Really? Back on topic... an example. What would you take, a 5d as it comes out of the factory with 4k or a 5d with everything a C100 has? Or they just drop the C100 prices to 1k and I'm happy for a few years.

not that it doesn`t matter...it maters a whole lot, it just doesn`t matter so much if its 4k or not, at least not at the moment.

4k 4k 4k Why is everybody so obsessed with this??? You think it will make you or your videos better?? All it will do is make you spend 4k€ on a computer that will make everything work smooth. 4k is a consumer thing for now...I will take a clean, flat moire and aliasing free prores footage with actual usable 10 stops of DR for the next 2 years at least over any kind of 4k.

Well I sure do hope for them and their familylies sake that they're alive and well. But I don't know. I've been using the same build of ml on my camera for about 3 years now and it's the only reasson I don't get rid of that camera and a reasson why I will probably always own a canon camera. Unles ml or a similar software is doable on another brand in the future.

Many solid points here. I agree, that cameras largly deliver what you need. But still...lets say that sony a6000 had live histogram, false color, 100mbs...those are simple things that were enabled on "antient" cameras. I'm sure that everybody who films with that camera would have bought an "app" like that. I know that most external recorders or external screen will give you that, but those are a 1000€ add ons on a 500€ camera. Also that add on makes it a rig instead of a pocket camera. When I first started out filming with DSLRs it wa a very exciting time, magic lantern changed so much, gh1-gh2s amazing details with bitrate hacks...it was a very exciting time, where we weren`t waiting on a new camera, but a new camera hack. what happened to this "movement"? have cameras been pushed to the end, are they hack protected that well or have manufacturers just give us everything we wanted in budget dslr/slr? Magic lanter seems to be at a standstill, no hacks for the GH series since the gh3. there seems to be alot of effort put in hacking the nikon cameras, but is taking very long due to a small team. So, what do you think? With cameras being more and more app based, why aren`t there any apps? we have them for phones, tablest, but not cameras...

You seem like a talented fellow and doing great work. Have you maybe thought about making an app for real cameras? I think I read somewhere that someone reverse engeneered apps for sony cameras. It seem that camera hacking is almost gone...

Ok, thank you. How much cache space is ussualy enough? Why would an ssd for clips work faster? I have no problems wit realtime until I have more than my gpu can handle. sorry for all the questions, but I'm a bit new with resolve.

Ok, so my computer at the moment is i7, 8GB, gtx 460, 1TB samsung HDD drive. I would like to move away from adobe and use just davinci. I just started on a small clip in davinci, but I`m not getting real time playback when I have plugins on the nodes(filmconvert), othervise it`s fine with 5-10 nodes. the only thing I miss is the render on timeline from ram that adobe has. I read that davinci has cache preview, but when I enable it, it only becomes worse even less fps. So something must be wrong here. Tomorow I will buy a 128SSD for OS and programs and another 8GB of ram. I don`t have enough money to buy a GPU that would be a significant upgrade. I need some advice on how to configure the discs...what disk do I use for cache preview?

as I said, maybe it`s my screen, but there are green casts in the skin. this is something that I graded...it was shot with a7s, rx mk3, 550d and a gopro. I think that the 550d shots turned out the best.

nx500 just has way too much crop for me in 4k to be usefull, and no speedbooster can be mounted on it. But yes, there just isn`t any proper G7 footage out there to see. Waiting on the review from Andrew to see what it can do with a speedbooster.

next week is a new camera time so...the price diference is just like a 100€, and I can`t decide. a6000: +fullframe with a speedbooster +plenty of wide angle vintage glass with a speedbooster +a really flat image -aliasing g7: +nicer iso noise/low light +very little aliasing +mic input -bigger crop So, I`m not a huge fan of either, but they both fit money vise. I have a tokina at-x 28-80 that is my favorite lens to date and the idea of a speedboosted one on an aspc seems very appealing to me. I don`t care about 4k that much, but 4k downscaled to 1080p seems very atractive to have a clean image I can work on and it`s maybe a bit more future proof. So with the G7 gain a nicer image compared to the 550d that I use now, but with the A6000 I get to use it as a full frame and use more lenses.

I guess it`s the "canon has best colors" week on eosHD I did do some grading of the a6000 footage and I could get everything just the way I wanted, except for the green of the grass...very minor, could have fixed it if I tried a bit harder but it wasn`t paid enought and some of the footage was heavily overexposed. that brings me to another point: I could recover alot of over and underexposed footage, that I could not with a canon. My budget setup next month will be this camera, a speedbooster and a tokina at-x 28-80.

I am in the exact same situation and I will be getting the a6000 for the following reasons: -LENSES... you can mount just about any lens on. I earn about 30% of everything by being a focus puller. Nikon lenses focus in the opposite direction. -speedbooster...again, a lens thing. -peaking -EVF I also prefer the look of nikon image and the complete lack of alliasing, but I love diferent lenses and the look they give. Being restricted to mostly nikon lenses is a huge turn off for me.

well, digital has it strong point and weaknesses as does film. dynamic range and detail is where films usually wins...and resolution is not to be mistaken with detail. digital can be extremly clean, which is good, but shows moire, aliasing, too much contrast. If I get a flat aliasing free with lots of detail and 12 stops of DR image out of a digital camera I could not care less if it`s 240p or 4k. Film did that to some extent, and thats why it`s still used...these filmmakers that can shoot a movie on film probably have an 8k red at their dispoasal as well.

I used to love to be here and read about new stuff, but this canon vs xxxx is getting old. Canon makes some great video cameras we all know that, or else there would not be any of these discusion. The thing that gets people mad is that then want you to pay the price for great picture...retarded isn`t it?!?!? if lets say the canon cinema line along with the 1dc would cost as much as the a7s, gh4, nx1...who would own one? just about everybody here I`m sure and there would be nothing but praises about it. but it`s doesnt cost that so... so, you want a mercedes slr amg but don`t want to pay that much? well, you can still have a mercedes for a fraction of the cost but it will not do what the amg does. so what do you do? well, you can buy a subaru impreza wrx, it will get you round the track faster, but It`s not an SLR... you pay for such things.
