    panasonic g7

pretty much any camera nowadays has picture profiled, but the g7 also has the cine D, the same as GH4....I`m sold, just have to wait to get them to EU.

also it seem that only avchd is region restricted, MP4 is pal/ntsc switchable, from what they say.

looks nice, nothing spectacular, but I didn`t see any aliasing. I guess this is the next 550d I`ll buy it for sure.

I hope you can get it without kit lens as well.

    panasonic g7

it must have a mic in as well, as they`re recomending the dmw-ms2 with it. a nice price and it`t finally what the nx500 was supposed/should to be.
  7. I saw it yesterday...great DP work, but the movie itself is...dunno, just bad. no real story, no real plot, just very bland. Another great classic ruined.

since the g6 was so well received around here, this looks like the 4k version of it. I hope the higher resolution cures the moire/aliasing of g6. http://thenewcamera.com/panasonic-g7-full-specification-leaked/
  11. Choose h.264. It will just further compress it. I migh even have a preset of my own writen somewhere...I'll try to find it. But it does take a while to compress.
  12. Use handbrake. It`s a free software, I`ve used it many times before with good results. Export your video on high settings then feed it to handbrake, set the desired compression and away you go. 30% file sizes of the original with very little, to no visible loss in quality.
  13. nikon raw video is far from reality, the developer himself says so. Highly unlikely that it will record to SD card, HDMI most likely.
  14. Well, there is not much of a direfence in shots that there isn't alot of movement. I shoot alot of downhill skateboarding, with a camera straped to the hood of the car and YT compression turns the footage to a bunch of blocks...prores, dnxhd, h264, whatever. One thing that saved my footage was when I upscaled it to 4K, just for fun. It made a 100% diference to my eyes! Even 2.5k is leaps better. I guess the youtube high resolution coded is just better. You can clearly see it in this clip below. Edit: beat me to it :)
  15. thank you for the links, but I`m looking for ungraded raw footage that I can download and grade it myself. so if anybody here has this camera I will be very gratefull for a few seconds of footage.
  16. while they`re at it...give the nx500 it`s original 2.5k mode with a flat picture profile.
  17. could somebody please upload some a5100 xavc raw footage to to download please. I`m looking for some decent footage and everything looks like crap, so I don`t know, is it just a crappy camera or folk don`t know how to grade footage.
  18. this tehnique works great for removing CA, but moire not so much. Still it`s a great way to sharpen the footage without getting hallo effects, I have a preset in davinci that I apply to all my canon footage before I start doing anything to it.
  19. Honestly I think that the video looks great for what it is...I`m not sure why you would have to upgrade. But still, d5300 would be good for this kind of work, but you can`t use any of your canon lenses on it. you can use nikon lenses on a canon, but not the other way around. Nikon prime lenses are good and affordable.
  20. Yes, Nikon. But I would take the d5300 because it has better grain structure so it's more usable in low light. Along with a 50 and 35 1.8 and you have some left. or as someone said...lights. art instalations should be lit properly anyway so.
  21. it`s true...I just watched a clip where there was 4k, 1080 and 720p stuff mixed up and I barelly noticed. I did because I knew it, but for a random viewer it doesn`t make a diference. Regardless...there is no real replacement for the old cinema camera and it`s 2.5k mode. You have the micro cinema which I presume has the same sensor as the pocket and cinema camera, which is great. Then you have the micro production, which I presume has the shitty 4k sensor of the old production camera and it takes about 3k to get it to shoot 4k and then ursa... The micro cinema really needs to have 2.5k to be a nice middle ground othervise there is not much going for it compared to the 500€ pocket cinema except 60fps. Is that worth an extra grand over the pocket just for 60fps? throw in another 300 and get a gh4 and 96fps instead.
  22. It can't be much worse than Atomos...monitors on those suck big time. It's a nightmare to pull focus with those.
  23. Still more DR(if its usable) than the old 4K BM production camera.
  24. Every run and gun production I work for has a sony ex3 with whatever lens...4k will not be a production standard for a while, but I can easily see all those productions switching to this camera. theres a huge market for it. The company I work for the most has like 10 ex3s...once they are not viable to service any more they just might get 10 of these. Gh4 is fine for indie film makers, a m43 mount on this camera would sell as well I think, but not for productions. A 4000€ is not a consumer market as gh4. Production companies don't stress as much about lenses they just buy "kits". The ex3 that has been used for 6 years has a lens that would not be used on a new camera either because it's done its time.
