    Lenses

hello, in the next months I will be buying a new system altogether, sony a7000 hopefully...but an E mount for sure. I want a few sets of lenses to go with it... I have a tokina 80-200 f4 and looks vise it`s my favorite lens. I was thinking about just getting an At-x version of it along with the 28-70 with a speedbooster. I have a helios 50 that I think works with it very nicely. I would like to have a fast 35mm prime to go along with those....what would you suggest? We also share a cine set of samyangs with a friend, for the more comercial look. And I would also like to have a set of c-mount lenses for the more extreme vintage look, but I don`t know much about those.
  2. will there be a full review of this camera?
  3. the DOP here keeps saying that if he could use Alexas instead they would save money, because we would need half the lights and half the time preparing the scene...I think he is right. but othervise they get the job done for the price.
  4. BMCC is great for the price, but it`s flaws become very disturbing very fast if thats is an only camera you have. We are shooting a TV series with those and not being able to go over iso800 is very disapointing. We`re using zeiss 1.3 glass and it often happens we could use more light...pulling focus is also very interesting at 1.3 :)
  5. Hello, we were wondering with friends what would we need gearwise if we wanted to livestream a skateboard event, MTB event etc... there`s not much coverage of this kind of events. Just gear to transmit to a youtube account...
  6. I think it looks pretty good. I would love to see how the codec holds up in fast motion, othervise think it will replace my 550d.
  7. tamron 17-50/2.8 If you`re looking for a manual lens it`ll be alot less to choose from.
  8. ok, last test...DNxHD uploaded directly to vimeo, just a short most afected part of it. https://vimeo.com/90159359 password: zrez this 50sec file was about 1GB. I see no diference between this and then DNxHD that was precompresed with handbrake. For this kind of fast moving footage a bit of grain seems to work best, other than that the H.264 shared here by JCS which works great as well. I have yet to try bluring of the edges a bit, but at least now I see that this kind of shots will get hevily compressed no matter what. How much diference would I higher bitrate camera make I don`t know. cheers
  9. https://vimeo.com/89776956 I used your preset for this...davinci resolve for basic grade and sharpen->DNxHD->premiere-> your preset. I think it looks pretty good, very good actually! thank you very much! Maybe slightly less detail than the original video, but also half the size than that one after handbrake. password:preset
  10. OK, I got DNxHD to work...just had to download it from avid :D Works great, looks great. This 2min and a bit clips renders out to be 3GB, which is managable...I can just use ma laptop tu run 24h/day to upload it. But for future clips that will exceed 5GB I guess I will have to figure out the mpeg streamclip and the best way to compress it. Thank you for all the help, I learned alot!! Edit: yes, most of the time I can stop far before a cyclist can and in most cases faster than an awarage car at the same speed...don`t worry I`m 100% in control :) And yes, I`m looking to upgrade to panasonic g6, GH3 is out of the price range ATM. But for the time being I have to get the most of what I have.
  11. ok, I think I`m a bit over my head in this. I thought I knew more about video and now more that I read less I understand. I have no prores in my davinci(because I use windows?), If I export graded footage in DNxHD then It looks diferent and premiere won`t open it(missing codec), in premiere I can`t export in DNxHD...I still don`t really get how x.264 works, I think that the codec is on my computer now, I just don`t seem to know how to use it, or understand completly what it actually is and does. I think I have some serious studying to do on my own and then ask questions if theres still something I don`t understand. Thank you very much for all the help!
  12. I would gladly do such things, but my internet here is not very fast...500mb takes a few hours to upload, and I`m limited to 5GB per week as a vimeo plus user. and...in any of the programs I have I can`t find anything x264...do I have to download the codec first?
  13. thank you, this is some good advice! I knew that the problem is fast motion and that most of the ugly blocks happen on the sides of the shot. In order to preserve detail I actually shortened the time to 1/100 or so, but doing it the other way around seem like a very logical step.
  14. it sure is Slovenia :) Ok, I reuploaded the video. What I did was export out of premiere same as sequence settings and ended up with a 10GB file. The max limit I have on vimeo is 5GB a week. I then sent the video through handbrake and the result was a cca. 500MB video with no noticable loss in quality...at least I couldn`t notice it. I added a bit of grain with magic bullet before exporting. Video that is now online is noticably cleaner then the past one, but still quite worse than the original. If anyone would take the time to download the original clip and give me some more pointers I would really appreciate it. Cheers
  15. the guy skating in the video is actually me :) ok, so I should just up the bitrate to about 30mbs when exporting. I don`t understand the 4k fine grain, sorry I`m not that good at editing yet. Does this mean to upres the footage to 4k and add grain to it? Would upressing footage do any good? Thanx for all the advices so far. Cheers
  16. Hello, I mostly film skateboarding and i just can`t get the footage to look as good as I would want it to look on vimeo. It looks good on my PC but the vimeo compression kills it. The workflow I use is: 550d, superflat profile->davinci resolve for grading, export to RGB 10bit->adobe premiere for edit, export h264 custom preset. As I said, it looks good on my pc, then all of the detail is gone. this is a quick clip I did for testing the other day. The second part of the clip is ok-ish, but the first is alot worse then it should be. advice needed. cheers
  17. ok, I think I will go with the G6. Is the 14-140 kit lens worth buying or should I just go for the body? I got lenses that would cover most of the range of that lens, but is it worth getting for autofocus and such?
  18. Footage looks really nice! How about lenses? I have a bunch of m42 primes, I guess being a smaller sensor I can use those on it as well right? I got used to shoot with really flat picture style on the 550d...is this something that I can achieve on G6 as well, and is it even neccesary?
  19. Hello, I`ve read a few pages here, leaving them more confused as I was when I started :) I`ve been using the 550d for the past 2 years with various builds of magic lantern. I`ve been somewhat pleased with what I could get out of the camera. I have been seeing all the great raw and all kinds of footage lately from all sort of cameras and it has got me wondering if maybe it`s time to upgrade. I like the look of raw videos, but going on 2 week skate trips to film would leave me with 5TB of raw footage and I really don`t want that. Since there is no inbetween option on Canon that h.264 and raw I started looking at other cameras, but really don`t know that would be appropriate for me. I`ve been eyeballing the black magic pocket camera, GHXXXX series...anything sub 1000$ basically. I need as much dynamic range as I can get and an angle of 16+-mm on a full frame. I`ve been using 8mm fisheye on the 550d, but I could get away with a little narover angle.
