Why can't you export in 2.7k? What software? Othervise what arellaTV said. I did a few tests on my own where I just upscaled 1080p footage to 4K and it looks way better on YT. Even if you watch it in 1080p and not 4k it looks better in that codec than it does in "regular" 1080p codec.

I guess it turns your camera into an open source based computer. In theory you can tell it to do whatever you want...load diferent codecs, output via usb instead of sd card slot....I'm by far no expert, but seeing what people do with linux based mini computers(rasbery pi)...plenty of options I guess.

It all started with canon dslr, they got their second chance with magic lantern, this might be the third chance for those cameras. Imagine a 550d recording in prores via usb

do nikon lenses have the opposite focus orientation than most others? standing behind the camera, rotating the focus ring to the right you get infinity?

Project ara might change some things...it would be easy for some company to make a physical plug in with hdmi in, headphone out etc...

you can wire it in with a signal spliter/small mix board, but it won`t be two separate tracks.

I don`t care about electronically controlled lenses...I never used them for video and even when I did I wished I haven`t.

Supposed to have 4K...imagine this: 1 series flange distance is 17mm I think, and m43 is 20mm...a m43 to nikon1 adapter and a whatever to m43 focal reducer/speed booster. since speed booster canot be used on a nx500 this could actually be a nice 4k pocker camera.

Yeah, I thought about 5500 for the touch screen then I found DSLRdashboard app, and I`ll just invest the spare 200 for a lens or two.

A friend has a d5300 and has sent me some raw footage, so I can see hoh it grades and sharpens up in post...DR is amazing and and it sharpens up nicely in davinci. The only thing that bugs me right now as I said is that I cant use the mir24 and helios44, two of my favorite lenses.

I like what nikon has to offer, I`ve been through the sample footage multiple times and the only reason I don`t own it yet is that I have a few m42 lenses, that I really love but can`t use them on the nikon because of the focus issues. The GH3 I can buy used tomorrow for 500€+100€ lens turbo and It seem to have the sharpest 1080p image, but I would really miss having no flat profile... I can wait until NAB, or for adobe to have h.265 support, but as others has said I could spend that time shooting instead of waiting for the perfect camera. I can rent atomos samurai for free when I need it...does GH3 do uncompressed hdmi out? G6 is nice, but the bitrate is not enough for my use. I often strap the camera to the hood of the car and follow skaters down the hill, and I think that the G6 would not fit. I like the lx100, but it has to be a camera I can swap lenses on so...

I`ve been shooting with black magic cameras for a while now, mostly production camera...I love the image it produces, but it has to many drawbacks for me. I need at least 60p( I shoot alot of skateboarding) and I also need a stills camera. I guess I could keep the t2i I have for that, but having both in one suits me far more. I regret not getting one when it was 500$ or so...oh well. I`ve seen some pretty impresive hacked GH2 footage as well, is there such a hack for gh3 as well?

So, something sub 1k... anything better that the gh3? I like the a6000, I have a long lasting hate for avchd, 5100- no evf...whats left? I love the nx1 colours and I would buy the nx500 just for the 1080p, but I really dislike the macroblocking that happens during conversion...if something comes up in the next few weeks that fixes the problem I will buy it. Any sugestion?

maybe it will get uncroped 2.5k from the original firmware that was floating around a while ago.

I don`t own one, the production I work for owns 2 of the Production ones, one 3 months old one 7 months old, black holes are still on both of them. I have shot a full seasson of a TV series and a full lenght movie on them and in many cases I would prefer a 550D. I don`t care what the manual says, when I`m the one grading the footage as well...asa800 is useless on a production camera, but It`s good on the pocket. As I said, in ideal conditions it`s takes pretty images, but it`s very impractical. If we wouldn`t have 1.3 zeiss lenses we would be in alot of trouble, and even now I magine how much fun I had pulling focus at 1.8-1.3. anyway, 1000-1500$ will not get him a body and a half decent lens to go with it, let alone a battery pack, SDD/enough cards to shoot anything full lenght.

How many of you, sugesting black magics have actually used them for a longer period of time? I would say that most dslrs would be a beter choice than black magic. For controled shots with pro lights yes, get a black magic, othervise just about anything else. 30 mins of battery life(external power is crucial), ssd drives, a cage is a must, anything above asa 400 is useless, black holes in spotlights...takes pretty pictures, that it does.

The nx30 has a hotshoe one, maybe it'll fit. But the theres no flash option which sucks...

Has anyone done some test with the a6000 going to an external recorder? The only drawback atm for me not to buy that camera is the codec...if 300$ for the ninja star solves that problem I would be happy.

Is sony a5100 in terms of video the same as a6000(focus peaking, zebra, flat profiles?)? I have to buy a new camera as well...I wold get the a6000 in a heartbeat if it had xavc codec. I do more video, but I pay more bill with stills so...I`ll just keep the 7D that has been good for me taking stills and just buy the a5100 just for video...
