    Sony a6300 4k

so it`s my monitor? at 47sec on the garage door...there is no moire on a 4k monitor?

I`m seeing quite a bit of aliasing and moire in just about every a6300 video. I thought that was over with since the a7s and onward.

Exactly. But bigger productions can have red on set, and micro ones can't. Thats why we have gh4, nx1, a7sii...specs are there, but the rest not so much. But it gets you the gig instead of the guy that films with a 5d3...sad but true.

Not entierly all true. I worked on a coUple of comerials. The requirements from the client were: blond women, blue sky, 4K. Not a single mention of DR, I'm pretty sure they have no idea what it is. The DP was pissed, because now he had to use a Red instead of his prefered alexa. And small clients, who want the latest and greatest videos made for 500€...well they've read online that 4k is really importat right now. They will never knlw the difference if I just send them upscaled 1080p footage, but I will loose clients if they find out.

Yup...I has hoping on a m43 sensor to be speedboosted to s35.

I was hoping that the new pocket would be that 2k alexa. Close, but not right there in terms of versatility. For indie shorts and such it seems perfect but to be used on comerials and so on it looks too filmic actually.

looks like it will be slog-2 for exteriors and slog-3 for interiors/skin color.
  8. Well, I did not do any grading of that footage, but when I saw the doc I was like...I shot that?!?!? It is that good! Weight was a plus for me. I will shoot a well balanced camera the whole day if needed. Shooting with a BMC production cam or any dslr style camera on a shoulder rig, where most of the weight falls on your arms...that 5kg setup will give you far more back problems than a properly balanced 10kg one. I just don't see why the f3 would neot be a very revelant film camera for years to come. The image it produces has so much detail...no sub 5k dslr will not touch it anytime soon, if ever.
  9. My least favorite thing was that I don`t own one My favorite indie movie camera...image vise, athough diferent for me is on par with the alexa. Too bad I shoot clips where I need slow motion, othervise I would have own one. I did a documentary on it and it was flawless, the 1080p out of it is as clean as red 4k+, at least I can`t really tell a diference.
  10. 80% zebras are for skin colors, for white people at least. That is used by default in the ENG world. Zebras at 80% and you let just a hint of them on the forehead/cheek. That is a television standard, at least around here. ENG cameras ussualy have very limited DR and very poor highlight rolloff, so this is a way to avoid a messy shot. On higher DR cameras(dslr an above) I always set zebras to 100% so I know exactly what is getting blown out.

    Nikon DL

http://thenewcamera.com/nikon-dl-camera-leaked-first-image/ If only the would be a body only as well.
  12. But you can't tell focus, or am I missing something?
  13. Every new canon that comes out interests me only in a "can we get continous raw with it" kind of way.
  14. Why would one want to pay 300€ for an optical VF instead of an EVF?

Interesting. That+raspbery pi+ML and you have an open source recorder.
  16. thats exactly what I had in mind. offseting two layers of the same image. In theory it should double the pixels, but not in a "shapnen" effect, just add pixels to the image. I was playing around in davinci the other day, stacking two of the same tracks at 50% opacity and offset by a pixel. Didn`t export it or do comparisons. I don`t know... I see guys in post that make a shitty image look great and "meaty" but it`s probaly a long proces and something one would really share.
  17. I`m no expert either most of the tracks I did double with a different amp, but this was a solo...I never play them the same twice :D Anyway, back to image. We know, that some movies with the most breathtaking images also used some very mediocre cameras, but the final product looks amazing. I can`t be just a good colorist, there has to be more to it. lets look at this...it is not just a sharpen filter
  18. I think 3d takes a bit more work
  19. So... The other day I was at a sound tech, where he was mixing one of our songs. He stacked my guitar track one on top of the other, and made a minor offset on one, to get a deeper richer sound. It got me thinking...would something like that be usable/benefitial on video as well?
  20. Hahahha around here they will be selling used ones at 15% off the old prices :D
  21. They have droped the price of shogun and assasin by 500 each. Assasin-999, shogun 1500.

unfortunatly yes. it just pisses me of, because I will have to buy the camera, the specs are just to goo for a pocket camera, but I know I will be pulling my hair out grading it. If I didn`t do color a well I would be thrilled

sony keeps making perfect specd consumer cameras that somehow don`t work that well. I hate a7s footage as it breaks just before I get the colors right. 10bit via hdmi to a prores recorder and it would be a dream and yes, I know I am nitpicking here as in what do you expect for a 1k camera...well, I expect a usefull codec to grade that slog, otherwise just leave it out.
  24. This is a stills camera just as a d5 is. 4k is an added value for photographers here , but as a cinematographer I think it would a bit silly to get one. 6.5k€ gets so some really great great video cameras that will stomp over this one.
  25. I have to pick out a new camera for my company. We already own a shogun, so I was thinking about the fs700. What would I be loosing/gaining with the f5?
