DJI RONIN S2 - Possible October 2020 Release
Marcio Kabke Pinheiro replied to herein2020's topic in Cameras
Ouch. If one of these crashes to the ground, at least one people will be dead. (owner of the insurance company, by heart attack) -
Maybe JIP (Olympus) might not be so bad for video shooters.
Marcio Kabke Pinheiro replied to John Matthews's topic in Cameras
The problem is that the common thinking now is: - "I need the full frame look - DOF so thin that only the eyelashes are in focus, will move to medium format" - "I need to shoot ISO 102500" - "Smaller sensors are garbage" -
Or maybe because a person would only buy one lens for the foresseable future, instead of buy a new one when they change systems? Love Sigma, but let's not forget that they are a business, and needs to sell products.

I'm offloading all the m4/3 equipment that I don't use constantly. Worst case, I will have a minimum kit to use for some years until the market consolidates.

Japanese translations are complicated. A lot of people are supposing that "video" and "business" means surveillance cameras. Worth read the full article, I thought that the tone was not so rosy. -
Panasonic S5 Entry Level Full Frame seems to be real...
Marcio Kabke Pinheiro replied to jgharding's topic in Cameras
Slightly out of thread, but since I'm looking at Fuji: how this works - or not - with the XT-3? How many steps are needed to switch "functions"? -
Bad news if true. https://www.43rumors.com/panasonic-might-change-their-mind-and-do-aps-c-l-mount-cameras-afterall/ But Panasonic still treats their "partners" as competitors as they did with Olympus? Like DFD only working with Panasonic lenses (I remember that in the start of the L mount there was a lot of incompatibilities)? If the attitude inside the L mount Alliance will be like inside the MFT world, the mount will not last.

Indeed. Great work from all the guys here, but for a professional shooting, I guess it still not acceptable to need to roll the camera until the first "overheating" warning to make the bypass procedure (and having files with +1 day in the metadata - it would be a media management caos with the files) to finally have a camera with (somewhat) safe record times. How would be if that first run is the acting of a lifetime from the actor that you are shooting and...fake overheating signal? Good workaraound for the people that bought the camera and could not return anymore the camera. But if I was a professional, would still finding it not acceptable. Canon still needs to proper address this.

Dunno if PetaPixel is banner here also, but they have an article for a infrared conversion company in New Jersey that tore down a R6 and found a real time chip controller that is attached to the internal battery (they credited EOSHD there). Not much new info, but an interesting investigation path. https://petapixel

Yep, I wish IBIS in their lower lines, but do not expect it soon (or at it all).

Yeah, Fuji could improve too. Gyro data looks really useful, but probably will crop the image somewhat in post, no? -

My doubt with Sony is: everyone have figured out good IBIS (not Olympus class, but good) except Sony. Could it be really as some say - the mount is limiting it? -
FX6 teased by Sony. Announcement coming?

Bring me a XT-40 with IBIS and more 4k record time (20 mins ok for me) and Fuji will gain a user.

Press release already leaked. looking good. https://www.l-rumors.com/press-text-panasonic-s5/ -
I just wish a X-E4 with IBIS. Never will happen, though.

Canon Cinema EOS C70 - Ah that explains it then!
Marcio Kabke Pinheiro replied to Andrew Reid's topic in Cameras
Of course it is clickbait. As I said, I suspect that the "future brand" was already chosen. And I understand the concerns for the general public being fooled. From my part, I just see videos from a lot of people, much of those not exactly trustworthy (but never see Toneh or Polin, they are just annoying), because sometimes in the reviews they show some point that others did not cover (even found one time or another useful info coming from the master of bullshit, Mr. Ken Rockwell). Buying decision making should NEVER be done with one opinion, and specially without knowing the faults of the desired product - because ALWAYS have more than one problem. (that's why I never bought anything on pre-order, or even in the first months - wait for the weaknesses and the inevitable price drop after some months) -

https://www.l-rumors.com/panasonic-s5-spec-sheet-leaked/ "・If you set 4K 60p/30p/24p 10bit, you can record a movie for about 30 minutes, and under the recommended environment, you can resume recording immediately. With 4K 30p/24p 8bit and FHD settings, you can record without time limit (with temperature limit) and support long-time uncut shooting." Here we go again... (albeit Panasonic is probably the best company regarding to thermals) -

Like Matt, but the skeptical in me is tingling saying that the choice was already probably made... (my guess: Canon). And the Camera Conspiracies's guy cameo in the video is fucking HILARIOUS. 🙂 -
Very good teardown of the GFX100 by Roger: https://www.lensrentals.com/blog/2020/08/the-fujifilm-gfx-100-vs-salt-water-teardown/ Bullet points for me: - The weather sealing is not so good - be careful with water; - The internal structure of the camera is tank-like (specially in the sensor area); - LOOK HOW IT IS DONE, CANON - you take the back plate of the camera off, HUGE heatsink attached to the back plate, processor with thermal pad in direct contact with the processor.
