  1. WHOA!! That is only a hundred bucks more than I paid for my Atomos Samurai Blade (& that itself had just had a massive price drop! One of the key points that helped sway me towards a F3).
  2. Looks like that is not all their shotguns, just all with a 3.5mm connector.
  3. I don't bother really with 60fps, but I think hitting the S&Q button will help speed that up for you?
  4. Either that or even just the internal recording, such as yesterday when filming a conference all day long as the quality didn't matter that much.
  5. 10,000% agreed! & so we keep on waiting for an AF100 successor to complement the GH5....
  6. Secondhand has gone for as low as US1.5K ish: https://www.ebay.com/itm/JVC-GY-LS300U-Super-35-13-5MP-Progressive-4K-Solid-State-Camcorder/253079448296?hash=item3aecb5eae8:g:q1gAAOSwyYZZ3834
  7. How many 1st AC's were driven to tears?! :-/
  8. Pity it isn't the Pro version, as then I could swap the lens mount out to something else than PL!!
  9. Form factor, IBIS, and UI / usability. Because a "cube shape" means a poor man's RED?! :-P lol
  10. 1st AD?!?! Hmmm.... strange. AC perhaps?
  11. I haven't directly compared it personally, but the rough feeling I got from reading about it online is that the extra cost (& storage) isn't worth the few diminishing returns. (as the whole point of the F3 to me, is its amazing affordability!)
  12. Even though I almost always agree with you Kisaha, in this exception I would say an F4/F8/MixPre6 is *NOT* a "middle solution". As MixPre6/F4/F8 are very clearly low end options (even if they're at the top end of the low end, and have many features that only a few years ago you'd have only seen in the higher end ones). The middle range of option is Sound Devices 600 series (664/688/633), Zaxcom Maxx, Sonosax SX-R4+, etc High end is Aaton Cantar X3, Zaxcom Deva 24, etc I still feel the F4/F8/MixPre6 are *EXCELLENT* recorders which are amazing for their price, but it is good to keep some perspective here, out of the whole wide range of options out there they are certainly not some middle ground, but instead very much so sit on the cheap side of the price spectrum. http://ironfilm.co.nz/which-sound-recorder-to-buy-a-guide-to-various-indie-priced-sound-recorders-in-2017/ http://ironfilm.co.nz/aputure-is-shipping-their-new-microphone-aputure-deity-meant-to-be-a-competitor-to-the-sennheiser-416-like-the-rode-ntg3-is/ Seems you've just been unlucky? If anything, I'd say Tascam has perhaps a better reputation than Zoom? (up until the last couple of years, Zoom had zero "pro recorders", while Tascam at least had a presence in that market) But if you really want to avoid Tascam, then consider Marantz? https://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/1340332-REG/marantz_professional_pmd_706_6_channel_dslr_recorder_recording.html
  13. You could probably get two Panasonic G80 bodies for that secondhand? Gains better battery life, flip out screen, 4K, and IBIS And we're STILL waiting on an a5100 replacement?! It is tricky business crystal ball gazing
  14. Or half that apparently! Saw a guy asking a few days ago about if he should buy an AF100 that he got offered for 300 euros :-o Wow
  15. The Zoom F4 is $499 at https://www.amazon.com/Zoom-F4-Multitrack-Field-Recorder/dp/B01KZHQWY0 Damn, what a bargain! I spent more than that, but don't regret a single penny of it.
  16. I'd disagree, & say 90% of the time it is foolish for an indie director to borrow money to make a feature.
  17. Tangerine? The one shot with $30K ish worth of audio gear? Yes I wish every director shot with that as the minimum
  18. Was only for 24 hrs? Or they're sold out already
  19. Maybe because of the way YouTube pays now, longer it is, the more adverts that get squeezed in!
  20. A handful of these and you have a good start at a 360VR set up!
  21. What batteries is the EVA1 compatible if sourcing third party ones? DVX200 / AG-AC8 / AJ-PX270 / HC-X1000 ?
  22. There is a wide range of opinion as to what "DP" or "director" means, to some if you've shot a film then you can call yourself that, to others no less than winning an Oscar is sufficient justification! ha I do generally agree with you though, when a FS5/EVA1/etc are so affordable and so good, even very low budget shoots can do that instead of a DSLR. Heck, I'm doing an ultra low budget student project (everyone aside from myself, plus maybe an actor or two, are undergraduate students) this coming week, yet we're using an EVA1!! If they can, any one can! ha
