7 Lakes reacted to markr041 in Panasonic GH5 starts shipping in 3 days. How's the 180fps slow-mo quality?
Really! I am seriously concerned with the posting of a purely subjective statement like this from someone who is a "PANASONIC AMBASSADOR" [caps from the guy's own avatar]. Other statements from this source are also of similar quality. This is pure PR, complete with hyperbole. I am not saying it is not true, but that this is the type of stuff that demeans this forum. I appreciate that the conflict of interest is at least visible. On the substance - no other camera available at around the GH5 price enables one to shoot "serious movies."? Alexa quality? In fact this statement led to look at his others, and there are post after post of "game changer" and other PR phrases. I am NOT suggesting any censoring, just an expression of distaste. We all can get enthusiastic, and revel in others' enthusiasm, but not from someone who is not receiving gifts from manufacturers.
I do appreciate that the GH5 has important features that put pressure on competitors, and so I welcome its introduction. But I think the small sensor (MFT) will ultimately doom this type of camera for "serious" moviemaking. That is subjective too, but not based on who is supplying me with equipment or paying my bills. It should be clear I am neither an ambassador, or a diplomat! :).

I sold my Nikon D5300, which I liked very much, and bought Lumix GX80, which I start to like too now  I like that 4K has a more detailed image in the result. But if there was a Nikon with no crop 4K and 5-axis stabilization, I would choose Nikon, since it also has nice flat profiles made by genius Lee Powell @LPowell

I made a test comparing iso 400 - 6400 on skin tones if anyone is interested:
It looks pretty good up to 1600 and I think, but it's still usable in from 3200 all the way to 6400 in some situations. Might need some noise reduction though...

Ok good to know especially as I just bought one :). Got a deal in Australia with 12-35 and 45-150 lenses and 25mm 1.7 thrown in for free. Expecting these lenses to be kit lens tastic, but may use when I need auto focus.

The criticism part was sarcasm. I thought he was being a bit harsh and not so much constructive in his criticism. Anyways, will there be a video you can post here when it's finished?

We've all seen this old footage. There is more to am image than the senor alone.  We need to see footage from the Terra, not the Kinemax 6k.

A lot of great footage in this thread. Thanks for sharing guys. Is it just me or does the gx85 handle highlights more gracefully than than the g7?

Really good work. The GX80/85 can do amazing things in the right hands. If this camera is any bit of a preview of the GH5, then that is going to be one epic camera.

Guys, no offense but could we get back to topic please which is the GX80?
we have bmmc topics, we have the "5 reasons why i will get the gh5" topic by andrew reid, etc.
it starts to get annoying that every thread here on the last couple of pages gets derailed into offtopic - which is a pitty, because the offtopic stuff is most often valuable enough to start dedicated posts (which i encourage you to create, so that others will participate!)
yet i would like to receive email notifications about ontopic related stuff

The BMMCC never got the global shutter. It was canned last minute. Like I said, I love the picture quality, it's beautiful. It made me realize I don't really need 4K, it's just the form factor that I dislike. The camera is literally the size of a Rubik's Cube, but when you add a 5" monitor and cables and a small rig, it's basically the size of a prosumer camcorder without the ergonomics of one. I haven't sold it yet, my XC10 is supposed to arrive today, so I am waiting to see how I get along with it before I get rid of the BMMCC. Since the XC10 has a fixed lens, I may pick up a D5500 or the GX85 so I can use my lenses... Probably the GX85 since it will give me more lens option plus IBIS.
