I'd never actually watched Reverie & having just done so, it looks like a slick 80s cosmetic product ad - nothing wrong with that & kinda makes sense when you consider LF is a photographer. And after all its all about personal taste, which is different for each of us.
The whole PB vs LF debate is just funny cause i'd never heard of them before researching DSLRs & quite frankly i'm still not impressed. The dark horse that no one mentions is the one person i had heard of, Shane Hurlbut, & it was his info, posts & advice that showed me the way (still the most interesting/informative blog out there, by a proper jobbing DP).
So, what really convinced me to get a DSLR was this little offering & it really shows off what you can really do with this type of camera when you take a little time, effort & know how:

Personally, i'm getting a pocket & think it will be a great little cheap camera & way better than any DSLR in its price range.

Holy crap.. I think I might stretch my budget for a BMCC and get the BMPCC down the track a bit. ALSO a firmware update coming for BMCC too - Details at end of post.

I don't think you have any idea BMD works.. They aren't looking to be bought out and they definitely won't go belly up. The BMD cameras are only a small part of their business and have been a respected company for a long long time for other products they make at also highly competative prices.. How do this? By buying other businesses with tech they want and then bribging a highly polished product to market at insanely low prices compared to the competition.

They aren't going anywhere an it's funny how several prople question their business strategy when it's been highly effective for so long.

As for all the whingers about the price drop, while it could be slightly annoying GET OVER IT all rlectronic products devalue.. Maybe not in 1/3 chunks however the 5D2 dropped about $1,000 a year in small increments for 2 years running when I had one. I paid $4000 AUD when it was released 12 months later it was right aroud $3000 and a year after that $2000.

I paid like what $1300 for a GH3 and within only a few months its like $1000. I can only feel for the folks who paid the $3000 and only have just received it within te last few months, that would annoy me too but that's just how it is with ALL electronics whether it hurts your feelings or not.

The G6 is a global cam (NTSC/PAL switchable) and the GH3 is not????
 

Just avoid any setting that has "i" next to it lel (interlaced sucks).
 
That leaves you with a 50p and 25p settings, both are great.. Use the 50p for slow motion and 25p for everything else.

Canon put video in the 5D2 because Nikon put 720P video in their Nikon D90.. The video feature in the D90 was 720P and aimed at consumers (the D90 is a consumer camera) when Canon put the video feature in the 5D2 it was extremely basic and wasn't even aimed at the filmmaker but the photojournalist, Canon admitted this years ago. It was only after filmmakers started buying it and using it that it evolved into what it is today.
 
I don't think the video in Canon or Nikon DSLRs had anything to do with RED whatsoever......

Ok for 18k I can buy four 4K BlackMagic cameras and still I can save $2,000 for alcohol and slutz..... 

Just hoping someone could help me out with a good "picture profile" for color grading on the GH3, be it the best preset one or the best choices for the custom one. I am only just beginning to get into color grading my footage so I'm not sure how far to drop the settings (Sharpness, Contrast etc) in the custom profile..
