  1. Canon's Duel Pixel auto focus reliability FTW. Anything else is a risk. Also most "high end pros" do multiple takes on controlled shoots with multiply angle shots so I doubt they would care about auto focus too much unless it's follow focusing on a subject moving toward or away from the camera....even then I'd only rely on Canon's auto focus. But the high enders are shooting on film, red, or arri.
  2. I'm still a little bit skeptical and would need to test it myself. After seeing these test I'm definitely going to rent one and try it out.
  3. 5D RAW upscaled to 4K 5D RAW upscaled to 4K + a few XC10 4k shots and Blackmagic pocket cinema camera shots on the bus, and car dialogue scene.
  4. That latest 4-29-17 build broke my live view preview in modes above HD. No grey scale or anything.
  5. I think there is a clog export option in the footage app. I haven't tried it and won't be able to test it for a few hours.
  6. Indeed. The image quality has really spoiled me on what's currently out there now. The 4k at 12fps is spectacular....it is an absolute tragedy as to what these canon dslrs are capable of.
  7. What was your resolution setup...lol this motivated me to go out and test the 4k resolutions.
  8. Try the new Footage App developed by one of the magic lantern forum member martinhering. You can get the latest version here. https://rink.hockeyapp.net/apps/3ed6ecf60e684239a6aba3d407cf3935/app_versions/77 There isn't real time playback yet like MLRawViewer but you can quickly scrub the timeline and export the dng or mov files. Also, you may get more than 12 minutes by shooting in 14bit lossless raw.
  9. Was on a makeup shoot the yesterday and decided to test how well I could use the 3K Raw mode on a job. The primary camera was the C100MK2 and after I captured the main shots I broke out the 5DMK3 to experiment. I captured about an hour worth of footage in 3K. Resolutions higher than HD are not recommended on productions until the liveview is fixed. You can only effectively shoot static shots or shots that move but stay within a fixed depth of field range as the choppy grey/color liveview is nearly impossible to use to follow focus on moving subjects.
  10. I don't think it can. It should only limit you to 4GB clips.
  11. Finally got around to editing some clips together.
  12. No moiré patterns, better low light performance, more camera shooting agility than the Blackmagic cinema cameras, and the ability to record to CF cards with possibly smaller files with 14-bit lossless compression. Once they fix optimize the live preview for the 2k-3k resolution ranges and implement mlv audio, i'm probably going to make that my primary narrative capture format.
  13. Not at it's current level of development. All I need is a real time color preview while shooting and a continuous 3k or 2k recording format implemented like the 1080 HD MLV format and could take it from there.
  14. Here are a few more test screenshots. I use 10x zoom to carefully check focus. The images are spectacular. Im only getting about 38 frames @3072x1660 and about 250 @3072x1308. Crop Mode: 3K 1:1 RAW Video: 3072x1308 Aspect Ratio: 2.35:1 ISO: 1600 14-bit lossless ML Version: 1.1.3 Canon 70-200mm f/2.8 II Crop Mode: 3K 1:1 RAW Video: 3072x1660 Aspect Ratio: 1.85:1 ISO: 1600 14-bit lossless ML Version: 1.1.3 Canon 40mm f/2.8
  15. Thanks finally I can see what I've been recording an it is awesome. Here is a sample dng file below a screenshot: Crop Mode: 3K 1:1 Raw Video: 3072x1152 @2.67:1 14-bit lossless Screenshot of Sample DNG Sample DNG M02-1203_000000.dng
  16. I'm in 1.13 and getting pink colored fames using MIRaw Viewer....but it's only with the 14bit lossless setting enabled.
  17. If this isn't an April Fools joke I'll hold back on getting a GH5 for further review of the 5D4.
  18. They just confirmed that it's coming. They also say that Canon "has been looking at ways to “improve” the 4K video capture crop". http://www.canonrumors.com/c-log-coming-to-eos-5d-mark-iv-confirmed-cr3/
  19. I would also include: 1 spare Wasabi Power Batteries for C100 - $30 and your good to shoot all day long. 1 Z96 LED light(on camera light) - $70 2x NP-F970 Battery + DC01 Travel and Car Charger Adapter - $45 Total: $5037
  20. If the budget is only $5000 i'd recommend this kit. Canon C100 MK1 - $2499 Sigma 70 - 200mm f/2.8 - $1299 Sigma 18-35mm f/1.8 - $799 Rode Videomic Pro - $229 SanDisk 128 GB Extreme Pro - $66 Total: $4892
  21. When properly exposed it does look every bit as good...even wide dynamic range looks superb. The C100mk2 is $4000 and the 5D3 is under $3k so that's why I haven't really tried to mention it much. I don't have the C100mk1 but i hear it also has a great image just a different color cast. I still cannot rank it's image as higher than a raw image due to post flexibility of 8bit vs 14bit. Audio can be record while shooting in raw with the via MLV by enabling the MLV audio module. The locking up issues are often caused by having to many modules enabled, card filling up while recording, card speed dropage or a battery issue. With my configuration don't get any locking up issues. Usability wise the C100mk2 is comprehensively no question much better to use.....better than any dslr form camera I think if you don't need stills. It's my favorite video camera to shoot on and makes me want to by a C300mk2. I did have my c100mk2 lock up on me 2 days ago where I had to take the battery out and reinsert it to get it back functioning while shooting..it was a 3rd party battery.
  22. Was this originally shot in 4K or HD. I decided to upload some more footage from mine. I'm still happy with it's performance and I don't shot clog anymore with it.
  23. I own both cameras as well and definitely think the 5D3RAW image is more impressive looking. I think the C100mk2 looks sharper overall due to it not being a full frame camera and not having a filter on it like the 5D3 has which needs post sharpening. Below are some 5D Raw dng files with a graded versions.
  24. No...that was an oversight. I added the GH5 to the top of the list after I finished the post and reread the OP and saw the part about ignoring camera release date.
