    Iscorama 54

Very interesting Tony and congrats Bioskop for being an owner of such a great and unique piece! Seems yours is very different from mine: Usually the people want the lenses without MC... I also like my 54 very much. But I hate the weight. I absolutely do not agree that the small thing is a plastic toy. Mine feels very solid and well made. Everything is super precise, fluid and smooth. It feels much better than a new Panasonic plastic lens - even than the 35-100 I owned. Maybe I am not strong enough or maybe I love to be more flexible!
  2. Sorry for loosing your 666 post status but good for the forum you post again. Interestring that you were searching the perfect 8mm anamorphic. Perfection is hard to find. For sure many of us are addicted to anamorphics. Searching, collecting, selling. It is not so easy to be happy with what you have. You own or have owned many anamorphics I think (Iscorama, Lomos...) Great that you found the full package now!  :) I like the tiny Bolex Möller so much: Lightweight and very easy to use instead of double focussing. After one day of practice you can do some rack focussing as well.

    Iscorama 54

Hi Bioskop I am interested in you experience: Why do you think has the 54 more character? Does this depend only on video? When I compare two images from Iscorama (Exakta) and my old 54 (non MC) it is very hard to see a difference (with the same taking lense of course) Maybe the small Isco is very, very, very little bit sharper in the edges (did I say very?) Color is the same. Maybe 54 has very little bit less contrast or preserves is a little bit more light. I think I can use both side by side and you can see a difference.   But maybe this depends on pixelpeeping? I don't know so much about this...  :)
  4. Yes very beautiful (somewhat artificial) and works great with the music. Thank you for that!

    Iscorama 54

Two parts? Just one part! Except of caps, a step-ring to attach it (very popular is a 77-62mm ring) and other useful parts are a lensupport and rods...

  7. This is causing a stir for the AG LA 7200/Century/Optex - lovers and probably for good reason.   The only thing I really don't understand is the compression... 1.33  Even 1.5 is just half the way (still perfect for single 8 and super 8). We are talking about anamorphics and not flare attachments! Maybe I have a different point of view as I am not so much into video/dslr   But cmon Tony don't compare Moller with SLR Magic ( http://www.moeller-wedel.com/company/history.html ) That is just not fair  :) Anyway... I don't buy untested things at all btw.
  8. Also super cheap (€15,-): Vintage Super Albinar 28mm f2.8 (could not test it so far as it is for my filmcamera with Minolta MD adapter)
  9. Julian, I thought they are offered high but not sold for those prices but maybe I am wrong... I think €600-700 (realistic price) is not bad for such a brilliant adapter?
  10. @Rcorrell: thanks for the info. Your Cine-Iscorama is looking very good! :) The advantage of the plastic toy is still its ability being used without support... That is what I don't like about my 54
  11. Nice collection! And I agree about the Moller - this is a miracle. Absolute sweet and also very easy to handle if you get use to it. I always hated the double focussing comrades but with this one you can do some kind of rack focussing after a short time. I would like to know if there is a big difference between 8/19 and 16/32.   PS The Mollers appear on ebay quite often right now and are rather cheap :)
  12. I am pretty sure the Isco will vignette at 25mm - at least with the Voigt 25mm.  Check out Andrew's review of the Oly OM-D (smaller sensor as the GH2 - doesn't vignette): http://www.eoshd.com/content/8565/olympus-om-d-e-m5-review Regarding the aesthetics - I went through the same "problem". Tried this and that. Spent a lot on lenses and sold them again. Now I have a set of CanonFDn and the above mentioned "Russians". The Pentacon 29mm cost me €12,- and plays quite nice with them. I also tried Zeiss-Contax and I think Canon FD are better - color and sharpness. The Zeiss for Rollei (made in W.Germany is signifcantly better then the Contax lenses). Anyway sold them all. Haven't tried Nikon so far as I am more into film now (the CineNikkor for the R10 is said to be great!). When I have some spare time. I'll try to make some examples an upload.
  13. Will the Nikon 28mm fit regarding aesthetics? I think that is - besides quality - the question. I have a range of Canon FD as I read they tend to have warmer color and are easy to declick. But I don't like to mix them with the russian lenses. The Mir 10a looks also interesting.
  14. The sensor of the GH2 is larger and therefore 25mm will vignette. The Voigtländer 25mm for example does not work :(
  15. I have a couple of russian primes as well and added for wider shots a very (very!) cheap Pentacon 29mm f2.8 (Meyer-Goerlitz) Of course this is not 25mm but the widest that comes to my mind and fits with its character: Soft wide open. Nice color and low contrast.  Downside for the flare-addict: I think they are always multi-coated.  Regarding russian primes this is a quite interesting read: http://taunusreiter.de/Cameras/Zeiss_Fakes.html   I am curious for other suggestions :)
  16. Tony, these are great clamps. I have 5 of your clamps.   But unfortunately I have no step-down ring from 52-39 (with .075 instead of the usual 0.5 thread) I think this sort of larger 0.75 thread is common with C-mount lenses? Isco made them for filmcameras.    If you meant this one (as shown in your picture) - I would be very pleased to buy it and send you a nice gift  ;)   thanks in advance for your help!   PS Annoyingly I cannot upload a sample image larger than a stamp
  17. Somehow or other that was a very nice comparison. Much more entertaining to see a sympathique smiling face :)
  18. Today I had a nice chat with a kind lady at ISK-Optik former ISCO-Göttingen. I was asking for the original adapter ring (39/0.75-49 for my Leitz cinegon).  She told me she was sorry: they dumped everything of the "old" stuff. "Yes, sir we dumped the old stock, as we needed the space for new developments" Well, I was... speechless. I told her in brief about the "Iscorama-hype" and prices. I even told her about SLR-Magic and the price tag of $1500,- I could "hear her smiling". It is unbelievable the ISK-Management has obviously no idea what is happening.    Or could it be that the production of a new Iscorama with similar quality is just  too expensive?   An aquintance who has a friend (a scientist who has even received an Oscar together with some others) at ISK-Optik told me they are more into developments for the industry.   In my opinion it is more of a missed chance Reminds my very vague of the magnetic monorail - now in China  :P   [attachment=663:IscoramaB.jpg]
  19. Five stars Mr. Bannister and a big bookmark! Thank you very much
  20. Andrew: There is no need to feel sorry that you ripped of the guy at that store. ;)  Chances are high me idiot sold a lovely like new old Leica kit with 3 lenses for under €1.500,- about 8 -9 years ago to the same guy    I started with Super-8 30 years ago but was always more into making music. But as times go by I ended up working mostly as a cutter for corporate and documentary and doing some 3d stuff and rarely music (all very low budget).    If SLR-Magic are able to make a good product they deserve financial success. Good luck guys!   And sometimes I have to remind myself that gear is often overrated: "Rudolf stop thinking about the right lens, just go out and pull the trigger!
  21. Actually they are just doing market research. SLR don't want to do anybody a favour - they are only interested in selling their stuff like Zacuto and all the others too! And for the price of one SLR-Adapter I bought two tiny Möllers and my NonMC Isco 54 which I bought just two or three months ago wasn't more expensive either. And it goes on and on: There are a couple  of Bolex Möllers around right now for less. I saw a 36 for € 250 (Paypal - no SCAM!). (I know of the disadvantages of the Möllers)   Not long ago many people here on the forum were discussing character or the lack of it especially on the Isco 36. Now the new kids on the block are hyped and everything is about flare and bokeh... but where has the demand for character gone? As usual Andrew did a great job but to my eyes it could have also been cropped. There is nothing special about the image. But I am not an expert or pro - just a way to waste time and money but I know a couple of pros and they even don't know Iscoramas.
  22. Very interesting and impressive attempt. Hope you get it done! This could result in a better image than SLR Magics product...  Looking forward for your updates  :)
  23.   As I mentioned above: This is already turning into a "trading/searching" thread...
  24. HaHa... Yeah! Would really impress me if SLR Magic can pull out something similar  :D
