Julian reacted to Newtonian Films in Advice on eBay anamorphic lens listing (No advertising)
Firstly thanks to everyone providing great information on anamorphic adapters and lenses. Helped me choose the adapter that best suited my needs.
I had originally placed a bid on the rare Baby Hypergonar (not mine) listed below, but glad I got out in the end. Price is still very low for this pricey bit of glass with just over a day to go on the listing. Could turn out to be a bargain for someone who will actually use it instead of ending up with a collector

Another listing wants €2500 which is insane! Becoming a collectors item more than a functional lens at that price.

I get so confused when I read this post. It sounds kinda like your against sports but pro objectifying women. But then it becomes some sort of a Zen thing.
I think I might be drunk. I will read it again tomorrow

I actually very rarely click on subforums.  Really I should.  But putting your review in a sub forum maybe a sure fire way for it not to get seen.

    My GH4 profile is...
    Natural, 0 contrast, -2 saturation, -5 sharpness, -5 NR.
Recorded in 4K to an Odyssey 7Q+ in ProRes HQ.
Weight of the Rectilux with a Kowa Bell & Howell inside it is about the same as my Sigma 18-35mm. Roughly.

Wow, my bad. I see enough shitty footage on here that sometimes it's hard to tell who's doing it on purpose and who doesn't know any better. Now that I know you're in the former group, I'll be sure to leave you to your own devices from now on.

Nah, forget that cheapo Canon 50mm f/1.8 altogether if you're going M43. There's no aperture control possible for these Canon lenses with cheap adapters. If you can, get the G7, with a 100-ish costing lens turbo (Nikon -> M43), with the Sigma ART 18-35mm f/1.8 in Nikon mount. That's a super solid starting point. Then get some cheap Fotga adapters (like 15 USD each) for like M42, Pentax and Minolta (full manual lenses) and start gathering some vintage glass where you feel you're lacking range. Like a Pentax-M SMC Asahi 50mm f/1.4 for example. Maybe save up for a native MFT T0.95,f/0.95 lens from SLR Magic/Voigtländer.

Julian reacted to Mattias Burling in Selling Bmpcc, lenses and stuff.
I'm clearing out some gear to make room for new.
Selling a BMPCC with 7 batteries as well as three Zeiss Jena Primes.

    The 10mm f2.0 that's a little stiff but usable.
    The 16mm f1.8 that's instead a bit loose.
The 25mm f1.4 that has a dust spot inside that does not show up in footage.
All three is fitted with Tevidon to C-mount adapters for infinity focus on m4/3.
Also I have a Bmpcc which is in great shape apart from the common jumpy HDMI.
If gently pushed it delivers image to my EVF so one could probably lock it in a cage.
(I have a video showcasing if interested)
    Lenses: $550 + Shipping
    Camera: $500 + Shipping
The Lot: $1000 + Free Shipping
I also have a really nice Zacuto Top Handle with extra rod clamp, perfect for a mic. It also includes a Z-Rail for mounting it on pretty much any cage.  Price: $50

So you turn the IBIS of, simple.
And again, what camera in the world doesn't get jello in that example besides a non stabilized camera with global shutter? :)

I've used my friend's A7ii and the inbuilt IBIS seems awesome to me. As long as you aren't doing huge pans or anything it seems great. It's so liberating just being able to walk around with any lens attached and getting some stabilisation without a tripod or rig. I guess if it's a professional job then maybe it's a different story but I think it's wonderful that Sony are going down this path. They'll get better and better at it to with each camera.

That is an odd thing to say in a discussion forum, where we should be sharing views/opinions without fear of derision/ridicule. Remember, it is also just your opinion that "the makers of this production are several orders of magnitude above (his) current artistic skill level," not a consensus. Even if it were, if we're to critique someone/something only if everybody agrees we're better (and therefore qualified to critique), then nothing constructive would ever happen.

This is an unrelated discussion forum. I wouldn't have stated my opinion on their Vimeo page or anything like that. Every now and then, though, I just like to let off some steam by writing up my thoughts. After all, I lack peers – being a ghost and everything.
Apart from that, nothing to me on here (or anywhere else) is exact(ly), clear(ly) and I don't have projects, I'm just a lone geek running around with a camera once in a while. I'll wait with my first "project" until I have an idea I deem worth realizing. Finally, I'm not into advice that has not been asked for.

no, it's by SmallRig. I've had it for a couple years. fits perfect. I cut a piece of gaff tape and stuck it to the inside of the support curve to prevent any metal on metal scratching.

i have one and love it. I don't see a loss in sharpness and have shot with a 25mm SLR Magic taking lens wide open at T/.95. that creates razor-thin DOF, and have found that aiming for a T/2.8 to T/5.6 will be my goal. the optics are fantastic, it's super easy to assemble or swap out to a different scope. the ring that locks onto the taking lens is nice and snug. you'd have to try very, very hard to twist it out of alignment. in fact, while that has happened to me in the past with other setups, it has yet to happen with the Rectilux. And I'll be surprised if it will. Build quality is off the charts. And I just had a custom-made gear delivered from Helicopter Sean at followfocusgears.com.  My production company just wrapped a movie, so this week i plan to finally go out and shoot more substantial camera tests.  And if all goes well, i'll be using the Rectilux/Kowa B&H to shoot my third feature in August.

    That's great news !! Thanks.
It would be very tough here in HK to shoot at 3200 during the day even with a VND on top of more ND's
As someone who is into photography and interested in video, Sony has just made my ultimate camera. Bye Bye Nikon & NX1. Going to dive into this system. It will be kind of weird leaving Nikon after all these years, but they need to move with the times and get with the program. I'd rather spend my money with an innovative manufacturer who doesn't hold back. I do like the NX1, but for stills I find it very average coming from FF Nikon.
The Loxias look amazing as well.
