1. 75% of 'THE GIRL WITH THE DRAGON TATTOO' was shot with a RED ONE MX by Jeff Cronenweth for David Fincher. The film looks stunning , they only got and Epic for the last part of the filming. I think a RED ONE MX still has lot of life in it! People used Mitchell BNC cameras for 50 years without havng to upgrade to a new model. I would be quite happy to get a cheap used RED ONE MX Im sure it is would be good to use for many years to come!
2. rolling shutter - the evil artifact of all sensors!
3. 35mm Carl Zeiss Flektogon - very sharp lens I use this alot with my Isco anamorphic lenses
4. remember you can not delete files in camera on the Blackmagic!
5. looks good helios are great with anamorphics I use them lot as they flare very easily
6. looks good!! worth having in your kit bag!!
7. RED are selling a whole bunch of Scarlets cheap .......I think these may have got used on the new Total Recall movie to do a ' time slice/ bullet time' shot this is from Red User website: I can't tell you much about it.. but we just did a massive project with a need for a pretty special 3 second shot, so they rented a whole truckload of Scarlets from us ... more Scarlets than most people have seen in their lifetime. None of them had more than a minute of record time. We can't sell them as new.. and the rental was good.. so we are giving you guys a one time break on these as " Battle Tested " Scarlets. $7100 instead of the regular $11,900. Scarlet Brain, Side SSD and Canon Mount. And because I know someone will ask, you can't swap the mount to a Nikon or PL for this deal. They come with the standard Battle Tested 90 day warranty.. but we will open up RED ARMOR just on these since we were with them 100% of the time that they were out of the box and are as close to brand new as you can get. 15. I use an ARRI LMB-2 Matte box has 2 trays for 3" x 3" square filters and holds 4mm filters by Schneider and Tiffen Lee etc
16. Recently I found a class 10 SanDisk Extreme Pro 95MB/s card at a local store and snatched it up because it was really cheap. buy your card off Amazon - sounds like you have bought a fake card - there are lots around this card should cost $160 all day long ....there are no cheap cards. I use Driftwood Quantum 9B Update hack with San Disc Extreme Pro 64gb 95mb/s card absolutely no problems or issues Ive not had a freeze or lock up and it plays back in camera all ok It took me a while to find a hack that was stable this works for me ok
17. you have to buy an adaptor for each make of lens
18. also Cosina 20mm is good and cheap too pentax k mount
19. I would highly recomend the Canon FD L series lenses they are superb and very very sharp! even wide open at 3.5 20mm ...well keep looking on ebay they can go for $350
20. yes its good , FD lenses are very good on the GH2 and very cheap as they dont fit EOS Canons so ebay is full of great sharp lenses for the gh2........ cheap!!! Many Hollywood films used FD lenses with Eyemo cameras as crash cameras.... Check out the Canon FD 24-35 L series f3.5 simply stunningly sharp amazing lens....
21. I dont think this is a BAE Systems sensor like we have all been allegedly speculating.. BAE are a military contractor ......and must be used to the most rigorous testing standards.....
22. oops ! bad sensors! I hope they can get this sorted out I wonder who is making these sensors for them ? they still have not said who it is speculation is BAE Systems
23. You can add bump stops that screw into the ends of your rails to stop the matte box assembly falling off your rails by accident. I've been using this sliding matte box principle now for a few years now I use an Arri matte box and it slides nicely on my Tecnoir Cinema Rig .........Also I like using Fujinon B4 TV ENG lenses as they dont extend at all when you zoom or focus so your mattebox doesn't need to move back and forwards!
24. I use Schneiders alot and this is the best one you can get http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/230854348748?ssPageName=STRK:MESELX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1586.l2649 stunning super sharp glass (like Canon L series glass) Very smooth ' like butter' focusing ring...... very easy to use This lens is as good as any Panavision 35mm cine lens optically its is less than 3 years old and superb modern ultra sharp glass here is the Schneider on my Tecnoir Cinema Rig
