LOL Definitely, quote of this thread!
My vote is on Mavic. Purchase, as well :-)
GoPro is the most horrid camera even before the Lumière brothers did their presentation!
No Protune saves the grace or its absence in pallid colors all the same from one side of spectrum to the other extreme. No idea why people dare to shoot on it other than personal stuff and a few shots as inserts when the magical hour cheats all of us...

I am hopeful on this toy... seems guaranteed fun. Only compression artifacts can bring me some concern. Other than that seems interesting to my eyes. 4K is more than enough. I guess soft 4K won't hurt :-)

IQ is not only definition. I've fairly liked the Mavic outcome much more.
Actually, GoPro has always seemed to my eyes either too crispy or mushy because of compression, low color sampling and so on.

Expensive for so little. Phew... a7 and successive versions had not gotten my heart either. R and S did, though.

I know it is your perspective, Jon : ) But, I was expecting much more from them. Maybe it is also the vlogging style which irritates me, maybe yes, maybe not : D I fairly concur that spending time of viewers to see people to pick up someone else to the airport, it is not my beach at all. As much as all that calling out stuff, who pays this or that. Shouldn't Panasonic be the ones to promote it after all? Their silence or empty statement on a par with a Lumix Luminary who has no clue about 4K on a6500 puzzles me even further.
As already written, I didn't see multiple lens setup testing, fair alternatives to eventual limitations of the system, the whole range of settings to be tested in distinct setups. To me, the fact they spent dozens of precious time for that result, reminds me that famous expression... a Pyrrhus victory.
I can even recall the tests you've conducted on your YT channel. You have no need for marketing gimmicks to give to your viewers some truly accurate information. Pretty helpful BTW : ) That would be the standard I'd like to find from their meeting.

You and me, Ken, I think you all know it... : ) On his newest test, the same here. Where are the different lenses? External recording tests? The whole range of settings? What the hell Joseph was going to do there? To be focus subject to the Max's GH5?

LOL. I don't know who Ken Stone is either, but I guess he's a nice guy.
I scrubbed through the Max & Joe video quickly and lo & behold, Max came to the conclusion that leaving off the custom settings they got good results. Whod'a thunk.  Unfortunately the damage has already been done from Max's first video where nothing was in focus almost ever. It's very hard for a piece of equipment to overcome that kind of bad publicity. That's why I wasn't as kind toward Max as some of you guys, despite his good intentions. I found it very frustrating to watch that first test knowing he was wrong and knowing the damage it was doing.

No that is my Canon 16x19 photo printer. The Pro 100, they have the Pro 1000 out now to replace it. And no what I suggested was basically Last years most powerful, or close to it. A New Intel top of the line CPU, the i7 7700 cost around 350 Dollars. The top end MSI 1080 TI  8gb Video card is around, gulp 550 Dollars. There even is one that has 11gb on it. They cost 750 to 800 Dollars. Not sure that extra is really needed unless you make a living being a Colorist, Grader. The 1070, heck even the 1060 will probably be all you really need, if you don't make high end stuff all the time.
And like I said above, you really only need 16gb of memory for Video stuff. But the extra 16gb or more is really not that expensive in this day and age. But you will not see much gain with more like you would if you were gaming.

So 18 mm vignettes on the XL speed booster and Sigma 18-35 @ 18 mm and not on the Ultra speed booster, but it really makes no difference as the XL gives you a wider FOV anyway, so it seems on the XL you would simply zoom on the Sigma until you match the FOV you would get using the Ultra speed booster...

Will try it in an Easter shoot tomorrow. But even the EM1 has same thing. Main thing I need is the monitor. 4k focus hard! Usual workflow is press to AF then finetune manually. But really, all I care about is that vlog is just so special. I tried to work with it on the GH4 and it was hard work. The image wasn't quite robust for my needs and it never was quite right. This looks pretty in seconds. So love it! Will have to go back and rewatch Luke's grading tutorials now.

Man, you need to test it. Pretty useful. Who cares for full AF after then? A machine can't beat the man. That's the whole point.

Ken...I think Panasonic will lose very few sales over this issue...as you know, in reality it's fixable for those needing AF...for those who hate this camera, you could put an Alexa sensor and processing at 4K in the GH5 body, and they'd still complain...because they made their minds up before the first image ever appeared online...I'm sure there are a few exceptions, but I think for the most part this already holds true...Jon...I can understand for your purpose that you may be on the fence...but then you already have the G85/80?...and the cameras are very close...but for anyone wanting to shoot anything, the IQ is a no-brainer...I can't keep thinking of the US election as a personal comparison to the GH5...to me with the election, the question that keeps coming up, WHAT PLANET DO YOU LIVE ON???...clearly not the same one I do!...anyway...it's the same with this camera...if someone hates this camera, I don't have either the verbal skill, nor the patience to persuade them...my only regret in this is that if Panasonic  sells many of these, more money to put into the next great GH camera from them a few years down the road...

You can always correct it on touchscreen going with tap-to-focus, once it seems to accurately work on both AF and MF. Without mention @post on editing... :-D

Seems the last GH5 testing entries on tap-to-focus are pretty positive to confirm Jon Pais' findings on the older GH5 sister (G85) BTW:
[Focus Pulling in both modes: Touchscreen & Focus Transition]
No idea on settings but lets us to infer those MY fastest settings were simply misleading. Reason why I never bought his tests as much reliable, likely to happen honest but biased IMO.

    Emanuel reacted to nahua in GH5 - 6K Photo Mode - 4K 60P and 30P - HD HFR 180FPS
I understand what you're saying.  It's not really 6K, just like UHD isn't really 4K either.  But sticking to aspect ratios, I guess you can say it's close enough.  Most of it is marketing anyway.  Red, Sony, etc all claim 5K, 6K or 8K and it's not really that size.
To answer your question about recording, on a 64GB card:
    8bit UHD 16:9 30P - 1hr 24min
    8bit Anamorphic 4:3 30P - 1hr 24min
    10bit UHD 16:9 30P - 54min
    8bit UHD 16:9 60P - 54min
    8bit Anamorphic 4:3 60P - 54min
    8bit 6K Photo Mode 4:3 30P - 41min
Continuous recording is possible with 6K Photo Mode.  Again it's just like 4K Photo Mode on the GH4 - full video and audio recording.  But it is HEVC H265, so transcoding is a must in order to edit.  I would show you some of the longer shots of 4-5min, but it would be HUGE, around 60-80GB.  Transcode, edit, and then the render time...  Rendering just the small clips are something in the order of 30min.  If I did 5 min it might be a couple of hours on my mac.  Definitely something to consider with these large files.
The GH5 really is an amazing camera.  At one time I was really considering getting a Sony FS5 or FS7 just for the 4K 60P and the slomo.  But I'm so glad that I waited.  To have Anamorphic 4:3 modes means I don't have to do crazy cropping with 16:9.  Plus with the added benefit of better codecs and larger anamorphic coming soon, it's almost like a mini RED or Alexa.  As for all those people returning theirs or complaining about AF - well this isn't the camera for them.  This camera really is for filmmakers.  It has a lot of the tools that filmmakers need.  The new Waveform tool, peaking is improved, etc etc.  There's just so much value for the money.

@nahua, indeed... But it doesn't make sense either to call it 6K photo or less than 5K video, that's what actually this camera and this mode both are too. I wonder on overheating not because I don't know both Sony and Panasonic.
Man, you're speaking with someone who is customer of both brands for longer than your age very likely ; ) if you were born in 90s : D
I wonder about, precisely, because they insist to these silly denominations such as 6K Photo or to present this camera only as 4K video capture device on film side. I thought this mode would only be available just for a few seconds. It seems you can have 3 hours out of it or until your battery or card will completely drain. Recording sound included. How come?
Hence my fair try to detect where the catch is.
People look like very crazy, very lately. Panasonic marketing doesn't escape to this remark. This camera is fully underrated. A shame.
