before i saw this video i was still of the opinion that karma still have certain advantage like using the GoPro cam itself on and off the drone/stabiliser.....then i saw this ...i truly worry for them....
two things hit em the hardest, A) the drone is all over the place, B) i didnt realise the karma drone is so heavy.

Oh my goodness, you will not build a narrative only with it, will you?

If there is only a marginal image difference between the two then due to the size differences it might well come down to that old adage that the best camera in any situation is the one you've got with you.
The Mavic is very seductive to me because of that form factor. Even a 'small' drone like the Phantom ends up only being taken out when you specifically know you're going to do aerial stuff - and often only aerial stuff - as its not something you can pop in your bag on the off chance. Completely different proposition with the Mavic.
The Karma might long term prove to be the better platform as you can change the camera but the Mavic looks the better product today to me.

Not bad. Nevertheless, I like Mavic better than gopro.

So, after seeing that video it's an easy decision for me...The "camera IQ pixel peeping" thing has no point when "one" of the compared devices doesn't work as advertised. GoPro will probably adress some of these bugs through firmware updates but you can't turn a potato into a strawberry with software quirks... The bad thing though, that makes me kinda sad, is that there is still no company that can compete with DJI. Monopoly is never a "good" thing. When software updates will get messy in many ways (as it happened many many times before with Phantoms), which company will give us an alternative?

In Italy? Si, certo : ) But, to whom wants better IQ, why Phantom or Karma...? C'mon :-)

BTW, that Roman temple seen on DJI video presentation is also a Portuguese location [ LINK ]

Sure. No one will build up a film narrative 100% based on a 400mm focal length, as for instance... ; )
Your concern is fair enough, though :-)

As already said, I don't see it in that way. I've never interested myself for any of these toys based in so small size sensors. Always refused to sign GoPro or Phantom-like signature. Actually, I've always planned to use something from 4/3" format to begin with, when not S35 as much as possible.
This is the first cinematic outcome I've seen from such tiny category of drones.
Really promising to my eyes. Able to shoot wherever a bigger bird won't fly.
Without such ridiculous oversharpened lines to scream the use of cheap gear every time you go with aerial shots in your material.

Let's recall the usual aerial shots to begin or end the typical Hollywood product and we won't be too far from the description too... ; ) As written, it is just a matter to balance the elements; and try to keep the originality as much as possible up ;-)
    Time for Bloom's entry:

Interesting ISO comparative and RS resistance, after all, from tripod versus normal rotation speed modes:

I stand everything previously said so far.
First off, the fact to prefer the smooth(er) outcome from/by Mavic doesn't mean I or anyone may actually infer anything else is inferior.
Difference doesn't necessarily require a hierarchy. This applies for both down and up.
Secondly, I guess to follow three full academic years to graduate myself in Editing/Post Production (amongst some other two film departments too) completed more than a decade ago can only put me very conveyed to see nothing against "cooked" pictures, as someone here has already pointed out before. So, does straight out of the box mean anything 'better'? Oh, poor Logs... LOL ; )
Whether be made by GoPro whether to come from a superior manual focus, almost 1-stop faster lensed by Mavic.
Either way, never said small sensor size is somehow worthwhile in terms of IQ. And this stands for each one of these toys as same as convenience does.
On the other hand, other than Mavic, those nasty artificial edges (see the power lines in that sample) still make to notice in some oversharpened inorganic forms tend to not be cinematic overall.
To me, much sharpness can result overrated if not well balanced.
Both will notoriously revert as advantage on Mavic Pro.
I'm sorry but I see nothing new from that example.
    :-)

I enjoyed the guys delivery and attitude! As nice as the piece and idea is, the title's a bit misleading in a way. It isn't a comparison of 8-bit and 10-bit abstractly, it's just a comparison of two Sonys.
Take some 10-bit ProRes out of an Arri Amira for example, I've run that up against 16-bit Red Raw from an MX sensor and the Arri is better and grades far more nicely in real-world situation (IE not purposefully smashing it to get banding).
Or indeed 8-bit AVCHD from a C100 vs 8-bit anything else! The C100 has an amazing compression pipeline. But dip-depth is just one piece of the puzzle. There's bitrate and chroma subsampling too. Plus the sensor, AD conversion, gain stages, colour response and profiles, gamuts.... blah blah...
I like that he talks about not transcoding 8-bit stuff. I've been saying it a lot, people waste masses of hard disk, thinking that transcoding 8-bit stuff to huge files is worth it.
For my two cents, I also I grade things non stop as part of my living, and I hate most Slog and Sony cam colour with a passion. I wish I didn't though, as the cameras are cheap and high-spec.

Everything must be balanced. For example, people are crazy with slow motion. Put this effect everywhere. It is the same crap.

Again from my native country, where DJI has invited a few reps of the 'Internet press' to the European presentation in the sunny Portuguese soil. Here's another sample of the Mavic Pro look. But, that plastic cover shouldn't be there to cover the camera lens when the bird is flying for sure...

Take a look on this cinematic outcome... To whom comes from film realm, such called 'softness' (when not missing focus) is a bless :-)

    PS:
Thanks for the compliments on 'I Cento Passi' (dal cuore : ) Speaking of missing links... our memory is, though, full of team work worries, past today. Such as two weeks of shooting to be repeated only because of a DAT tape lost and recording sound irremediably missing, respectively; missing parts to still be credited; €300 to remain as credit card limit in the main method of payment for (shooting) expenses such as mere flight tickets (main cast); the female lead character to be completely erased from the script made with so much love fulfilled by many only a few months before in order to cut off the budget and tighten up efforts or there wouldn't be feature film to show up in the end + the whole participation of a co-production team and checks to sign at one time and follow accordingly, go figure...
Finally, all this became multiple awarded in Venice since a decade and a half ago, oh well, crazy craft this industry is *Phew*
