  1. Decided to try out some major upscaling to see if the image would fall apart if I upscaled 150% from a APC-C capture. There are two shots in here that are upscaled as such. I'd like to think it's impossible to spot these two. Very pleased with the A7s IQ. Everything handheld with a Canon 70-200mm IS with a Commlite adapter. Slog2 with a very dark ND-filter. http://vimeo.com/132065066
  2. Nice luts. I checked them out and found one that suits my recent shoot perfectly. Payed and downloading now. Keep it up! :-)
  3. *Bump* I'm willing to let it go for $600 + shipping.
  4. Did I upset you? I am quite educated thank you. My opinion on what is good or what is not is just as valid as anyone else's. Including yours. As for playstation, I'd rather stick to my Sony A7s rather than play games. As a matter of fact I find games just as boring as watching Alien. You really shouldn't try to educate anyone anymore, as you come out seeming quite, err, angry.
  5. I saw the original Alien 1979 when it came to the cinemas and to this day (I've seen a couple of time after that) I find this one of the most boring sci-fi movies. Only surpassed by 2001 as the most boring sci-fi ever. Camerons 1986 Aliens totally destroys it in every way. I'll admit though that it's two different type horror sci-fi movies. As for the 4K vs 1080 I stand by what I said. Have a nice day. :-)
  6. Is it flares you're looking for Zak? :-) I don't know how the earlier models flared but I'm pretty satisfied with the flares (flares start around 1:00) in this clip, my very first one with my Kowa:
  7. For the interested here's the serial number: 0177211. I have no clue what year this indicates.
  8. Selling a Kowa for Bell & Howell 2x anamorphic adapter in very good condition. Just some cosmetic marks on the housing. Glass appears to be near flawless considering its age. Have used this lens on my personal projects for about 4 years now and it's time for it to go as new things have caught my interest. Please see the original ad for pics. The original ad and the lens is in Norway but are willing to send worldwide. Link: http://www.finn.no/finn/torget/annonse?editAd=true&finnkode=60306496 The adapter/lens comes in a vintage leather box with step-rings mounted in front for ND's. Range from 52cm and upwards. There's no front or back cover/lid supplied. I do have a redstan lens-clamp especially made for this lens' back diameter and it will attach to a taking-lens with filter thread of 52 cm. The Redstan is not included but it can if we strike a deal. See the following link for a glimpse of its potential (shot by me with the actual lens-for-sale): http://vimeo.com/71725984 Several more videos shot with this Kowa on my Vimeo. Price: $750 PayPal only please. Additional shipping costs depending on buyers location. Thanks.
  9. This has to be the biggest bullshit so far this year,,, No-one will want to view material in 1080. Come on! As for Blu-Ray 4K...... I've bought Aliens on VHS, Laserdisc, DVD and Blu-Ray. I'll be damned if I'll let the greedy bastards trick me into buying it one more time.
  10. Thats really why I like it. Sometimes I find the less plot or story the better. (loved Sucker Punch for the same reason) I don't think Mad Max 2 had much of a story either. Loved it as well. Don't think the new one ruins the old ones at all.

  12. This is a rehersal of the norwegian entry in Europe's biggest song competition (ESC) where every country once a year submit a contestant to represent their country. Last years winner host the following year. The show is seen live on tv throughout europe by approx 600 million people and is one of the biggest tv-shows here. Audience watching the show live in the hall is about 20 000 people. After every country's had their go, each country vote and submit their countrys points and its all added up to decleare the winner. In 1974 Abba won with Waterloo so this contest have rocketed some carriers. My country Norway has won a couple of times and in putting the show on takes a lot of combined efforts. Your observations regarding tv vs audience is true btw. Its all done for tv, however, being there is quite fin and spectacular. Especially for us interested in the technique and such. Its a massive machinery.
  13. Well... I saw John Wick yesterday and I'd say about 50% of that was in slow-mo in various frame rates. Very stylish.
  14. Yes, I agree. To clarify...in my case the adapter WAS aligned, I'm very careful about this. It was more of a small rotation inside the adapter as my Kowas glass are a little flimsy. As I was handhelding the rig there was little things "happening" with many of those shots thus the "repair" with the Corner Pin effect in After effects. As my short had little or no flares and mostly very deep focus I got away with it all and the short is used by my countrys leading tourist guide. If you can't see it, you can't see it. ;-)
  15. I've had to realign plenty og shots caused by handheld camera and adapter on a tourist-promo I did a couple of years ago. Due to heavy vibration on the ferry I had to abandon tripods and pick up the rig by hand. Had no stabilizer of any kind. I the pulled the footage into after effects and used the pin-corner effects to drag/squeeze the corners of the footage to sort-of realign what was mis-aligned. Worked quite well. Check out the footage from the ferry on this: https://vimeo.com/71725984
  16. I have shot several music videos and other short films on just about every location possible in my area. Some have been government owned properties and some public spaces among others. I have never obtained any permitions, but I have kept my crew small, including actors we've never been more than five at the most. Sometimes we have been asked to leave and we have done so quietly. Never had any trouble exept fot that so keep it simple and be prepared to leave and you should be fine. I live in Norway and regulations might be tighter elsewhere of course. Best of luck with your shoot AFKLenz3G. :-)
  17. Do you mean Le Dernier Combat? I've seen this and his major debut Subway. I saw Subway many times on VHS during the 80'ies and loved it. I love it still. Amazing atmosphere in it.
  18. Nothing he has done touches La Femme Nikita imo.
  19. Shot some summer moods with both cameras at the same time. Literally two cameras hand held at several shots. In the first minute there is three shots that are the GH4. Can you spot them?

    Grading

I have been shooting and grading the GH4 for quite some time now, but I shot and edited a little piece earlier this summer that utilized the ML Raw possibility of the 5d mk3 and I think the robustness of the raw files is outstanding. A treat to grade anyway I want. I ended up with this grade from one of my favourite places where I live. I enjoy the Canon colors every time I see them. More is in the description.
  21. Some moods testing the new photo mode in the 4:3 ratio with my 2X kowa anamorphic adapter. More in the description. Very nice feature to have now.
  22. Probably not if you use CC. I've just started using CC. I come from CS6 and I couldn't import Cdng's there. Although I sometimes use the VisionColor LUT as picture profile in Camera Raw before exporting.
  23. Neil: is it the size of your files you're out to decrease? I don't care about filesize as disk space is cheap and I delete ALL my data when I'm done with my projects anyway. For clients I calculate in storage space in the final bill. But come on, how often have you been asked to cut again after the project is truly done and the final export have found it's new home on TV or other type ads etc.? My workflow is as follows: - Copy raw files to HD - Lates Raw2cdng (beta version) with default settings as converter - Photoshop CC raw and ONLY adjust whitebalance and exposure, although I set my template to decrease sharpness a tad. All other settings at default. - Export every file sequence out as a PSD's, as photoshop sequences that is. Remember to sync every file before doing that and check the 16 bit box Now I have 16 bit file sequences that imports and PLAYS wonderfully in Premiere CC thats VERY gradeable of course. The whole process is fast and easy. I really don't get all those other elaborate workflows people choose to use. I find this is the ultimate workflow regarding image quality. The only downside like I said, is perhaps the filesize of your project. I don't care about that. This is why I won't give up my 5d mk 3 with ML raw.
  24. For what it's worth: I have both the GH4 and a 5d mk3 with ML and simply LOVE the colors and robust picture I get out of the 5d with ML Raw. Yes, the workflow is a little bit more elaborate with Raw, but for me and my personal projects it's a no-brainer. I do love the GH4 also for its easy going usefulness and of course 4K. I do enjoy all the different reviews and I have learned tons by watching both Andrews and Daves collections over the past years. I salute you both.
