ES declared what was it 10 days ago he would never contribute to this site again because he knew his credibility was tainted.. then yesterday i see him post all kinds of bogus advice in threads. And now today he's whining no one locked his account so he took that as a free pass to continue his BS activities. Kid even has nerve to say "it's your fault" "don't get a seizure about me helping people"..  I'm glad mods are finally taking a stance towards this punks behavior. I understand the are leaving his account open until situation gets resolved but really it should be restricted and his signature modified ASAP with a warning of his fraudulent activities. It's like giving a sex offender a slap on the wrist. You know it's a matter of time before dude commits crime again.. Seriously, the leniency given here is starting to give this site a bad look I'm afraid.. where is Andrew btw? he needs to step up & address this imo..

My thought would be you want something soft, so you'd be wanting something a lot bigger, but with a much lower output - maybe a larger panel on a very small output level, or something bounced - whether it's an actual light or just the sunlight. My preference is generally for something bouncy.
A small light is going to be a harder light by definition, so you're probably going to end up softening it hugely, in effect making it larger anyway

I have a couple of SmartLav+ for interview, they sounds okish, not bad for interviews, but not great for narrative...
I probably have to use some pencils indoor and ADR for outdoor, since I cannot afford to buy more things now, I've just bought a G7 + batteries etc...

Shotgun outside could be suicidal. Especially in crowded environments. Too many people watching, too much of ambient noise, a Very Attention grabbing piece of equipment, (maybe) not enough background noise isolation, and the whole thing sounds like a disaster just waiting to happen.

Lapel Mics with the Rode InvisiLav sounds like a great idea (within clothing, and little closer than you would usually place them). Do a sound test (technical recee)before you do the final shoot.

Yeah I guess. Andy has the most hands-on experience with the G7, under various lighting and shooting conditions. So, I guess, it's good for everyone to learn.

My saying that was merely like soliloquy. And, I agree with that bit about recording sound in the field instead of ADR (lapel mics on the talent's chest, inside clothing could be a great idea). You can still get reasonably good sound (though a little cleaning might be required to prevent it sounding like a documentary, due to some background noise the mic with pickup).

I wrote here, since it is something that could be helpful for 99.9% of the people here: "Dear Andy" is because I think he's the best one to talk about Panasonic cameras and all the users should be happy to read what he has to say about.
I work with those cameras and I have some great results, but I mostly shot music videos. He use them for features, where the look is less stilized then in a 3 minutes music video.

Maybe his experience and his answers are something everyone could benefit.

But of course, it is my opinion. And of course, everyone has other answers is more then welcome. No "private chat" here, just the right recognition of authority to the people that boost my way of working.

Remember that if it not was for him and Andrew I (and all the EOSHD users) would still shot videos with Canon 7D, complaining that Canon should give us a better codec, 4K, slow motion...

Don't ban Ebrahim Saadawi, but Mr. Saadawi, your password should be atleast 10 Digits of Alpha Numerical with upper and lower case, ans atleast 3 symbols.
Forget that for a moment. You Need to File a Police Case and a Cyber Crime Case in Egypt. This is an International Phishing Scam. And it has Affected Many people and your Reputation. And the Criminal is someone who is stealing from Your Home. Let him/ her be Handed Over to the Police.
I won't be Surprised if the Fake Sales run into Hundreds.
It is Your Duty to Ensure the Police takes this over. This is not some minor excusable infirmity.
And don't leave eoshd. Your comments and insights are very valuable.
Also, if you leave abruptly, it would caste a Suspicion on the fact that the Same Scammer is making this post this instead of you, and effectively closing the case, before it even opens. You would have to provide a daily update in the Case and the criminals involved. Everyone wants to know the truth.  As it Unfolds.

sanveer got a reaction from Timotheus in What do I do with my short film?
I have a huge collection of short films from big Film Festivals, and most of them are Absolute Rubbish. I am guessing, it's more of creating hype and propaganda, and getting an agent, or becoming one, that gets you through. For most things. Also, while some films have excellent cinematography, or other technical bits, their stories and direction are good for toddlers, at best.

Start systematically. Ensure the edit is good. Most often, faster cuts (and large angled camera shots, where faces aren't so visible for bad actors) can make an average film seem good. Also, ensure the sound is good. Check ADR as an option, and put in a good background score. Good coloring and grading are also necessary.
Also, good posters, and working stills (along with a good trailer) would be a great idea.

Make a list of Film Festivals like this:
    1. Ones closest to your house. Like within a radius you can travel to (like 100-500 kms) with your parents or friends.
    2. The ones that are Free. Or have very low entry fees. Sundance charges $40 for early bird entries for their Short Films. SOTC (short of the week) charges $29. The $11 isn't exactly huge, by any standard. And, many famous film festivals charges almost nothing, many even less than Sundance. Do your research. There must be atleast 30-50 like these.
    3. The ones, whose owners, producers you can meet and discuss, and get some mileage out of, for showing in their festivals.
    4. Film Festivals where you can meet and intereact with people for showcasing of your film, and taking their feedback. Sundance seems like a great place for meeting people, learning from them, and maybe even collaborating with them.
    5. Do a round of as many film festivals as you can. Give yourself a budget. Of like "$100-whatever" to do a round of all possible film festivals. Don't spend more than 50% of that cost for the big ones, because they may or may not take a film (read my first para above). There is no criteria for them selecting a film.
    6. Rejection means nothing. I am quite dismissive of many famous people. One should never discover how they made it big (as opposed to their version of the truth). Also, most people in the films festival circuit didn't either think much of Paranormal Activity or hadn't even heard of it. As a matter of fact, Sundance rejected it outright. So, like I said, rejection means nothing.
    7. Show the world your film. You job is not to sit in judgment of it. Let the others do that. Just push it down everyone's throat. Whether they want to, or not. That's your job.

I hope this helps with the timelines, and the Fee/ No Fee option :

Yeah, in the context of what's happening in France this is all peanuts...so so sad for all those people just having a good time :-(
Thanks Ebrahim Senior for replying (at least, if that's really you...). If what you're saying is true, I feel for you.
However, please consider, and if possible, clarify the following:
WU money transfer pick ups require an ID. I provided the name Ebrahim Ebrahim Saadawi. Collection of the money was confirmed. The conversation @IshootbeforeItalk had on facebook was with someone using your grandsons personal account, that's where that chat is coming from. So if hacking was involved, it is rather extensive... I emailed you wednesday July 13th on the emailadress you mentioned above (so before this forum post). You did not reply.
Man, this thing is getting super weird. Fake identities, possible hacking. Like a Philip K. DIck novel..."A Scammer Darkly"

I love this place as I find inspiration and positive energy here, so I don't like posting something negative, but I feel you need to be warned.
A month ago I paid @Ebrahim Saadawi for a SLR Magic Rangefinder he offered for sale both on this site and on dvxuser. He had previously done an extensive review of the Rangefinder, also posted on the EosHD forum. I assumed he was selling this unit; he told me he had no use for it and no interested buyers in Egypt. As he claimed there were no other payment options in Egypt than Western Union money transfer and knowing his excellent track record on the forum, I decided to give it a go. Yeah, really stupid me I guess.
He went totally silent after my payment confirmation on June 17th. I sent four update requests since then through the forum's message service, which he all read (the site shows you this). Also messages through Instagram and email. Still no reply. Being certain (and baffled) that I was scammed I was considering what to do. Then I read @Tito Ferradans cautionary tale in Facebook's anamorphic shooters group of a LOMO scam he barely escaped (he also posted that on this site). On Facebook, another group member, Tomas, mentioned he also bought a Rangefinder from Egypt. Same seller, same story.
So we have the second highest rated EosHD account ever (second only to Andrew himself) through which at least two people have been scammed. Now here is the catch: the account of Ebrahim is used by two people. Ebrahim senior, and his grandson Ebrahim junior (the profile signature also mentions this). The other buyer did get in contact with the seller, which turned out to be Ebrahim junior.
It looks like Senior has build quite the reputation with posts I myself have also greatly enjoyed and learnt from. Junior pisses all over it now with this crap. We'll see if this post helps him reconsider, at any rate, other forum members may be prevented of becoming 'fools' (as Junior so sympathetically described me).

Concerning white balance and other settings, I've been using Sunny (A3G3) and Tungsten(A3G3), depending on the project. I'm of the school of thought to maintain consistency and just stick with it, letting colors fall where they may. @Inazuma came up with A3G3. The reason for my using it was due to the blue channel dipping into the 0%-5%. Panasonic's implementation of the 8-bit codec is excellent, but there just isn't much information in that range because it (correctly) put most of the information in the 5%-95% range. The same thing happens at the 95%-100%. @jase is using a Tiffen filter to lower the contrast even further... resulting in a nice effect too. Finally, I think it's almost a toss-up between Standard or Natural, as long as everything is set at -5, the channels will be clean. I gave Natural a slight edge though.
