  1. I think it's only fair to let Zacuto do another of their famous Shootout Videos, where they compare cameras on almost all technical parameters. They could throw in a few mobile cameras too, especially those with the installed apps for improving bitrate. And, have a few blind audience tests ... Those were fun and controversial ...
  2. I guess you could pick up almost every literally work outside the copyright protection period, whether songs or poems, or anything else. This is a list which isn't too exhaustive: http://publicdomainday.org/node/44/
  3. What is ofs? Also how do you plan to use tbe poems?
  4. IF the GH5 is out sometime in the last quarter of 2016 (or later), I would wish for: 1. Digital Stabilization like that on the Moto X Play/ Style. Despite not having Optical Image Stabilization it does a much better job than mobile phones that do. So I am guessing, it is perfectly doable with video on DSLRs and DSLMs. I am guessing that internal stabilisation especially at 4k and on larger sensors may be an issue, with sensor shift technology, regarding heat. 2. Better low light and better dynamic range. Panasonic have handled heating issues extremely well, and I don't believe anyone has heard of their cameras overheating. But I guess a lot of people feels their lowlight and dynamic range, especially for video could get better. 3. I wonder if they can have a larger than M4/3rd sensor inside that body (APSC or Full Frame), while maintaining the mount size. Much like the Metabones trick, but the other way around. It may help with low light. 4. That YAGH thing needs some serious makeover. They should add a recorder, preamps, XLRs and a battery in that unit. And reduce the bulk and bad looks of that thing. Something not much larger than the JuicedLink units. I guess most other things are pretty neat about Panasonic.
  5. Maybe we should take a poll: 1. Is the VLog easy to nail regarding exposure? 2. Does it has noticeably more noise, and one that is not organic? 3. Should Panasonic have tested it before release? 4. What about all the Beta Testers who used it (CameraStoreTV, Driftwood, etc etc)? Were they Unaware of it, since Mat from NewsShooter actually said the highlights on the Panasonic DVX200 were pretty much clipped. Since they have similar Log Profiles I am guessing they have similar clipping issues. Though macro blocking seems more prominent on the gh4.
  6. I seem to be a little lost. Maybe it was the D5300 instead of the D5500, or I am unable to find the video. Anyway, please check this video first. I will try and find the D5500 video too: http://www.bing.com/videos/search?q=Nikon+D5300+extreme+low+light+video+test&view=detail&mid=9040F02122116092FAE19040F02122116092FAE1&FORM=VRRTAP
  7. I hope Panasonic tweaks the VLog some more to reduce the noise among other things.
  8. The Nikon D550 looks like a great camera, with a Flat profile for video and great low light too. But, for video it has a strange color shift between various ISOs. From a red to a yelow tint, vacillating between various ISO settings.
  9. I am glad to be of help. Also, I personally don't mind making a donation towards the VLog if I pick up a GH4. Do you also feel, that they should let the VLog trickle down to the other Panasonic Cameras (FZ1000, LX100, G7 and GX8) ?
  10. Thanks for posting this. The JVC has quite a lot of features. I am very curious to see how the new Log profile is in more videos. NewsShooter's Matt Allard seems to prefer it over Sony's and Panasonic's Log ("The J-Log1 gamma is quite flat, but it has more colour information in it than say S-Log or S-Log2. I have recently been testing out the Panasonic DVX-200 and V-Log L. Comparing the two, they both seem to offer similar levels of dynamic range, but I do prefer the way the JVC handles the highlights."). Would love to see some good image testing with the new Log Profile.
  11. Wow. I love the whole spirit on EOSHD. People are generally honest and sincere. And mostly very polite. A rarity in online forums nowadays. We are a Rare Species.
  12. hahaha. I don't know why people read something else into posts. I never said it is stealing, because the glitch is caused by Panasonic. I only said morally. Law and morality don't always go hand in hand. More than anything else, this news made me laugh like crazy. Panasonic took so long to come up with pricing and selling the GH4 Vlog, and then, a little glitch has made it all free. Maybe if they target selling another few thousand GH4s, they can easily recover the cost. Or even better, release it for Free on the FZ100, the LX100, the G7, and the GX8 too, and let people go out to buy all those cameras, with the new Vlog. IMHO it sounds like an interesting marketing idea.
  13. hahaha. Panasonic just lost about 1$ Million ($99 x 10000 GH4 Cameras approx). I think, they should be broad shouldered about it, and let it go. A few people were cribbing about the $99 price tag for VLog. Maybe someone heard their prayers. hehehe
  14. I am a lawyer (among other things). You discovered a glitch and did Not hack or break into the security. Having said that, since the VLog patch is a Paid patch, and you have gotten it for free, ideally atleast on moral grounds you should not discuss this any further. Please delete this thread.
  15. Wow, some serious weight throwing around here. Is that a French Bulldog or an Old English Mastiff? Also, apparently there appear to forum members who would prefer carrying an IMAX sized (and similar weight) camera for commercials and DNG work. Maybe they should make an Ununseptium version of Cameras for people who like to use the cameras as dumbells in between Shots.
  16. I had read that the Ursa Mini is a rather heavy and not very well balanced little camera. Does anyone know how much it weighs?
  17. On youtube, last evening, I stumbled upon the Magic Lantern hacks (actually the extra firmware, since it doesn't really mess with the original firmware), and was amazed by the features. There were some excellent ones, and the whole movement was really path-breaking in almost every way. But, I went through a lot of videos, and I realized, that Magic Lantern had way too many features. And, most users used about 10-20% of those in total, so most of these features were wasted. Most importantly, Magic Lantern had some serious money and time constraints, since all the excellent work was Pro Bono. If Magic Lantern had created a KickStarter kind of campaign (I wonder if Canon would have tried to block such an effort?), it could have gathered the necessary funding to be able to dedicate more time and money to such good work. After all, no matter how good an idea is, if it doesn't sell, it dies out.
  18. You're right. I meant in a drone. Maybe it's high time Panasonic introduced a RAW shooting DSLM.
  19. The Surface Pro needs a dedicated graphics card. Something high end for tablet/ laptop video edit. I don't know why they don't add that. Otherwise with its (upto) i7 lineup, it seems pretty neat. I think that and quick charging are something Microsoft should consider for its new Surface Pro.
  20. I don't know why (12.8 stops of dynamic range amd 2.3x crop), but this seems to have the GH4 sensor. I have this strange feeling that the GH4 was crippled by Panasonic (like almost all manufacturers do) to ensure that it doesn't entrench upon some other lineup. And that the GH4 CAN shoot Raw Video at 30p (maybe even higher frame rates). Btw, this aeral drone is officially the First Micro Fourth Third Sensor to shoot Raw video. Wow. I am also guessing that Panasonic will introduce RAW in its DVX200 via a firmware, since it is capable of shopting raw.
  21. I read Dan Chung's review. I realised it would release anytime during today. These are the issues I noticed: 1. "My 4K footage had a final output in 1080 HD and still looked a little soft in parts. In the future I imagine that 6K or 8K video will give a much better results." It crops like all software based stabilizing software. It probably needs to be tweaked so as not to crop this much. 2. "I opted for to switch between 1/250th and 1/500th speeds with the lens at about f4, using the ISO to control exposure. You can use lower shutter speeds but the results aren’t so impressive." The higher shutter speeds means lesser light (1/5th to 1/10th), which, quite frankly is fine in broad daylight. Though Indoors this may not be a very good idea. 3. "Because SteadXP uses both audio channels for its recordings you will lose any sound recorded unless you have a professional video camera with four channel recording." Inability to record sound on most cameras.
  22. hahaha. You're right. I Just noticed. And the frames are more than just one. Her hair is still not in the same movement. Hmmm ... I hope it doesn't ruin the codec. Just mild purple that can be corrected in post.
  23. Hehehe. In a Lot of NAB/ CES made videos for stabilisers the warp stabilizer imprint is clearly visible. People making gimbals exaggerate its effect. Some camera mobile manufacturer (was it Nokia?) Shot with a DSLR and claimed it shot with the mobile phone. I with these guys would state the amount of cropping it does. It's the same as other stabilizers, but it uses the gyro in the camera along with information on the gadget on top, which has all sorts of gyros a and all sorts of instruments inside, and then syncs the two, and uses the help of very high frame rate to fight the effecrs of things like the jello effect. What resolution videos have they uploaded? I am on a mobile device so I couldn't figure out. Just curious. Why do you feel thr colours may be affected?
  24. I couldn't agree more with you. But more than merelt the size of sensors and other things it may be the implementation. I think Sony should concentrate on making a PureView808 kind of Sensor which is atleast 40MP (or ideally 50MP) and produces a 20MP image at bitrates comparable with DSLRs. That would be seriously something. Also, high bitrate videos similar to Panasonic's midrange can produce some steller video as seen from various online videos. One cannot carry a professional camera 24x7. But a phone with a superb mobile phone camera can be carried around always. And it can be made to shoot some great videos too. But DSLRs are an Entire Industry. And people like to look more professional than they are. Sony's mobile phone sensor division has alreadybstarted stepping on their camera sensor division. They just don't know it yet.
