GH3 and BMPCC. It's tough to keep steady handheld. I think it works best with tripod or shoulder rig.

I think over the course of many years, if Hollywood DP's shot on camcorders, and amateurs shot with film then everyone would be after the camcorder look.

What camera are you using it on may I ask? :) And is it difficult to balance that near 1kg worth of lens and adapter?

This is what happens when you have too much science in a technique not enough artistry. She's a lovely subject, the victim of hyper revealing grading. You're supposed to flatter her looks. You do realise that right?

Softer, less contrast, opposite of what's technically perfect.

No, not in DIY film making, that's for sure.  But I've mired myself in the tech for decades.  I do enjoy it and don't find it daunting.

It's just that, for me, digital imaging has finally gotten to the point where it's so technically democratized that I feel I absolutely have to focus on the more important aspects of the craft.  I've too often ignored the art to play with the newest buttons and switches.  I'm now feeling that such propensity is not going to serve me well in a DIY film making career moving forward.

Those switches and buttons are not as expensive and exclusive as they used to be.  Anyone can afford them.  I just saw a 5DII for sale on craigslist for $350.  Put that camera and a cheap 50mm prime lens in the hands of a talented artistic kid and there's no limit to what she/he could do.  And the gear is so good, even if it's not "the best", it will support and even improve their creativity...as you allude to.

Sorry. I'm hijacking the thread.  I know gear talk is the prevue of this forum and sensor stuff is the main part of it.  Have at it and I'll shut up.

I shot this music video for The Fold using the GH3, and a couple of car exterior shots with the Blackmagic Pocket Camera.

Lenses: Panasonic 12-35 2.8, Rokinon 35 & 85. Black Pro Mist 1/4 filter on most shots.

I used an Ice Light for a couple of shots where I had no access to power, and it totally screwed me. Check out the motel scene, and  you will notice rolling bands. I later figured out if the intesity of the light wasnt at 100 then it created the bands.
For the most part I was totally pleased with the GH3, especially with the 60p.

Don't buy a TV. The Dell UltraSharp series are great. Covers a huge range of color gamut. They're screen doesn't glare, and the viewing angles are superb.

You people crack me up. You finally get an affordable 4K Panasonic GH model that you've been begging years for, finally has ALL the video-specific features for audio, proper codec, MFT lens, portable ergonomics... and your first reaction?

Bmcc is just as easily a one man crew as a 5D. Pulling out a 5" ssd isnt any more work than pulling out a 2" CF card. You wouldnt be swapping out as often either.

I'm interested in this. I love the 35 and 85, but the 14 was really bad in my opinion. Plus I hated how it didn't have a filter thread.

Art doesn't necessarily need dialogue to "say" something. I think it's pretty abstract and one could take away many things from it.
