If I were Canon, Nikon, Sony, Fuji and Olympus, I would join up to destroy Panasonic for disrupting the entire prosumer market with 10bit video.

Now every other videographer, no matter their discipline or experience, believes they're getting ripped off if they don't get 10bit, even if they don't really need it.

Like now the Video AF have to be good because people can't focus themselves anymore all of sudden.

I'd say we are getting spoiled lol

  2. The current rumor is A7III will be announced near the end of this year and start shipping early next year (A7II was announced in Nov 14 and shipped in Dec 14) I bet A7RIII will probably come out around summer 18 and A7SIII in fall 18 (a year from now on)

Looks like they are turning A7 to 3 year cycle instead of 1 year compare to original A7

The real winner here is Sony, FS5 is starting to showing its age, and A7 series is getting old as well, and most players have shown their cards already (GH5/EVA-5DmkIV/C200)

2018 can be the decisive year for Sony, with a couple of right moves I can see a lot of people turn to Sony for a full kit (A7sIII/FS5III, hopefully an a7000).

This year is definitely the year of Panasonic for sure, will be interested to see what Sony do for next year.

I already give Sony a go (spend nearly $20,000 on Sony gears in the last 2 years) and wont be coming back, will be sticking to Panasonic and Canon in foreseeable future, I definitely prefer user ability and experience which Sony is really not there yet.

The follow focus will probably be no different from their current implementation of the zoom control which uses USB PTP instead of wifi. This won't be a relevant feature for the majority of Panasonic users as only the GH4/5 and GX8 support control over PTP.

On another note, besides releasing a new gimbal every few weeks, Zhiyun could easily release an SDK for their bluetooth gimbal controls, this could probably lead to more creative control for end users (like damped movement simulating a fluid head) and perhaps other uses Zhiyun themselves haven't thought of.

    wonder if G85/GX85 support it?

    Public opinion won't sway Canon.
Look at the massively popular Magic Lantern, did that spur changes to the Canon DSLRs? Nope.

The only thing ML did to Canon is change their firmware update policy to require the camera to be send authorized canon center to do the update... *cough* 5dmkiv

I was in two different local camera shops checking out the G85 and Olympus 12-40mm and 40-150mm Pro lenses.
In both stores one thing that I noticed and has put me off about the lenses was a slight play/movement between the lens and camera body.
Has anyone else that has one or both of those lenses on a G85 noticed this?

my 12-40 is tight on my gh5

no 400mbps yet, I have a feeling they might release it next month when v60 v90 are in stock

though it does have quite a lot of improvement and fix liked improved Video AF, tripod IS mode for static handheld shooting, new IS mode for anamorphic as currently after desqueeze it's a bit wonky, fix wb can randomly change even if it set to custom (I had that happened to me, my director was asking did the wb just changed?)

but then again it's from an unknown source so taken with salts for now

You guys made me laugh hard.
You are the same people who said years ago that FHD was completely enough and that 4K was useless, when we were telling you it is not about the people having 4K TV to watch your 4K movie, but about the cropping, stabilisation, noise, resampling, and so on that allows you also to have a lot nicer FHD image. Soon the same will be true for 8K to the 4K content we will deliver.

You are the same people that said the 12mpx of the D700 were absolutely plenty enough for photography, that more was absolutely useless unless you print on a wall, where I am using 24-42mpx sensors all the time and benefit all day from their cropping capabilities, better noise, better details even seen on my 15" laptop.

Anyway, just like 90% of the people on earth, you are reluctant to change and with people like you we would still be using nokia keyboard phones.

Thanks god the 10% do exist.
Can't wait for 8K 1000FPS 14 bit 400mbps x.268 to arrive in my hands! Stay with your 480p cameras!

:) No insult in my message, take it with humor

The prophet say it all! :glasses:

  9. Follow this thread as I am looking to ugprade from i7-4770K to Threadripper, Intel is like Canon, you have to pay to get the feature you want so I don't think they need to react to AMD which have less than 20% market share.

Sorry, the DR of the A7s ii is greater than that of the GH5. The A7s ii 120p crop gives you the same fov as the GH5, so that can't make it inferior to it! And the crop means no aliasing aftifacts. Vlog colors are awful. Sony colors have a lot of variants, but perhaps you couldn't figure out the menus to find the set you would like :).

crop in 2X is very bad, especially if you are switching to slowmo on the go as it totally changing the composition. Sony color is really hard to get right, that coming off as formal FS5, A7RII, A7S and A6300 owner, nowadays I use C100MKII for corporate and GH5 for everything else.

DR on Sony camera is very good, so as lowlight, but i dont really miss it (don't shoot at night nowadays), not one client asked is the video getting less DR lol, as long the composition and colour looks right that all they care.

It's getting a ton of coverage this week. That alone is enough traffic to drive sales. I don't think there's anything wrong with it, but if we are to believe what they said on RED's forum - that they can't keep up with manufacturing, I just wonder why they'd expand and create longer backorder times. Unless Apple is helping with manufacturing.

Maybe get Foxconn, they got million factory workers to help lol

  12. Dual IS2 is not great for panning, I think your best bet is to write to Panasonic about this, I already write to them that dual IS2 and panning is bad for video.  That why I got Olympus lens, dont really get those Dual IS2 problems especially panning, and ability to switch to full manual focus instead of fly by wire!

Sometimes I feel there is photo vs video division fighting each other inside the group. POIS is good for photo but not great for video compare to MOIS, same for Dual IS, great for photos but can be problematic for video.
