  1. Use your better judgement. I am sick of being led out to some clickbait SHIT or discussing ad-infinity yet another shitty YOUTUBE video. This forum needs to get back on track. It's a turn off. When did you guys stop CREATING stuff and posting that instead?!
  2. I think we have a serious problem with the truth. We have a problem with clickbait. And in some ways Webrunner5, you just contributed to the problem. If you want to discuss the Fran 8K on this thread, keep discussing it. NO more off-topic clickbait. OK? Or I'll have no choice but to have this forum clean up it's act and that will include dropping members who frequently link out to bad sources of info, or spread mis-information. There is enough bullshit and misinformation on YouTube and the internet, without creating more links to it here. Understood?
  3. Funny thing is, colour isn't even just a science
  4. One alternative could be... erm Vimeo. Set up a second *free* account with them, backup all your videos to this account but set them to private. If the main channel goes down due to DMCA you can instantly switch to that second free account. Simply make all videos public (apart from the ones DMCA'ed obviously) and upgrade to Plus or Pro. You would then only lose the comments and view stats - still not an ideal solution but better than losing everything and having to re-up in a hurry, re-title, and all that. At least by creating the backup ghost channel you can just cut & paste video titles and descriptions exactly as they were. You would still need all the original files but downloading them over a period of a week would be workable. It would take me forever and a day to go back through 8 years of shoots and re-up without a reference Vimeo account to go from.
  5. Thanks for the conclusion. You saved me 11 minutes and 42 valuable seconds of my life.
  6. I am not even going to watch this one. Did he reveal his settings this time? Did he even bother to say what lenses were used? Camera is only half the story when it comes to AF in video mode. I see from the YouTube poster frame he fixed the Z7 skin tones though. Maybe not so bad after all!?
  7. This full frame 3840 x 2160 4K clip is from my Nikon Z7 and I've included a standard JPEG to compare with. See how much it can bring out in the blacks https://www.eoshd.com/uploads/z-log/EOSHD-Z-LOG-Sample.zip The image quality from this camera is absolutely incredible. I am not sure if it is as good as the D850 - need to do a back to back. On DPReview's chart they had more aliasing on the Z7, but that could be down to the default in-camera processing having a more consumer friendly level of sharpening going on. With Z-LOG this is dialled down further than is possible with the default picture styles, even further down than the Flat profile. I find I am getting better colour in Z-LOG as well, vs Flat. Show us your grading skills!
  8. Yeah, might work. It depends if you want the look of Alexa 65 or the 8K / 12k resolution as well. If you just want the look, then the ground glass would work or even a medium format Speed Booster for Pentax 645 to Sony full frame E-mount.
  9. Wonderful video. I'll probably subscribe to his channel. How about this for a future trick - Project the medium format lens onto ground glass and behind that put two vertical GH5S in 4:3 side by side. One can capture the full height and half the width of the left side of the image and one can do the same but for the right side. Merge in post for 8K medium format!? Sliding the camera along like his rig was a great experiment in the lab and result was beautiful, but tricky to use for anything that moves. Oh and by the way - his vintage projector is a thing of beauty isn't it!?
  10. Yes it does work with an external recorder as well. But the quality internally is so good with it, I wouldn't bother with one. On the Z6 you already have N-LOG for HDMI. This is more for internal recording when you don't want to bother with the hassle and wobbly HDMI cable.
  11. You should try writing an email right now to a rumours site with anything at all in it. They'd probably publish it. Then I'd comment on it here like it's fact.
  12. Same manual WB on both these shots. Different colour science, sensor, processing and codec.
  13. https://***URL removed***/news/2936447826/cinemartin-launches-fran-cameras-with-8k-global-shutter-and-raw-support It shouldn't get the publicity. I have been burned before by a clickbait writer slapping something up on DPReview because it has a buzzword in the title. They publicised a Kickstarter campaign for a high speed camera which had WAY more credibility than this but it led to a £1000 loss for me.
  14. It doesn't. You just take the battery door off.
  15. Z-LOG is an in-camera LOG profile for video shooting on the Nikon Z7 and Z6 mirrorless cameras, and most Nikon DSLRs. Available now
  16. Yet again they gave it to someone else!!
  17. For me even the way the RAW files look on default Photoshop (ACR) settings is a factor in my decision to like that camera or find it a completely pain in the ass. Leica M9 for instance - bang. Perfect. Barely need to touch the RAWs in Adobe Camera Raw. Sony Raw - eh. Honestly most photographers do simple changes. Contrast, curve maybe, saturation, that's about it. They don't go fine tuning individual hues or luma / sat curves and mess with advanced colour channel settings or profiles. They just want it quick and easy. For me it is a complete mystery why the manufacturers cannot grasp this simple point! Sony's RAW files look so flat when you open them. It's another stupid default setting decision. Stephen is right above - that the colour science is now in the software and not the camera, apart from the fact you are seeing raw sensor data - so it's representative of the hardware in that sense. And he is definitely bang on the money to say Tony throwing video into his RAW colour science (actually just a white balance test) is total nonsense and misleading bullshit.
  18. I think you may have started a new meme @BTM_Pix
  19. Seen it before. Part of the problem with Sony is that their colour matches a chart but looks clinical on real-world subjects. We are talking about video by the way, not RAW where the colour processing is in post. In warm sunlight, the Sony too often looks dead. Canon 1D X JPEG: Sony A7S II JPEG: On some screens this will vary. The Canon might look like it has too much magenta and red in the skin tones. That's the display that's at fault or the browser, not the camera file. The Sony looks dead no matter what you view it on
