    Fuji X-H2S

Changed my mind. I have been playing with this for a month. Wide tracking is a significant improvement for bird videos. While having to select the subject is still a bit of a PITA with an eye to the eyecup I have come to grips with it. I have turned off touch screen and keep the tracking box in the middle of the viewfinder. Select start tracking, hit record and then compose the shot. Works well. Would be terrific if the FujiFilm would allow me to map the start tracking to another button--say the red record button. Then, I could start tracking with the red record button, then move the same finger to the shutter release to start recording the video.

  4. The Panasonic S5 for me. Better internal video quality than the S5II and not as big as the S1 and S1H. Of course the S5II has better AF, but I can't stand the internal video engine of this camera. The GH6 when using 5,7K ProRes is a good alternative too.
  5. I can understand the reasons for not having an EVF, especially if there's a super-bright panel on it (there's not). I've had a fairly decent experience with the GX800 by putting a non-glare screen protector on it, but it's still not ideal. I will definitely be asking Sean of LUMIX USA the question if they are giving info to l-rumors.com or 43rumors.com. I know he's commented on those websites in the past, saying they had "wild and incorrect" information. My message: don't work with those website! Although I've never tried the GX8, there are so many people that simply love it, even after having the GX80/85, and the GX9 available with newer everything. One of these day, I'm going to have to pick one up. What exactly was the feature that you loved so much about it?
  6. I'd imagine that the ML folks would be pretty good at getting the RAW sensor readout, so the DR of each implementation should be the same as the RAW still images, so perhaps just look those up to compare?
  7. The leaked images look a bit ugly as well. Maybe the released camera is much prettier. No mechanical shutter? Yikes. That and no evf are very unappealing to me. GX8 has a great design. It should be big enough to house a full frame camera inside.
  8. S5 (2) without the hump and no evf? No, thank you. Clickbaiter getting infos from Panny before release of the camera? Please, no!
  9. Apparently, l-rumors.com/43rumors.com bans you if you question why, after his seeing and shooting the camera, he can't say any more information. To know any answers, you need to sign up for his BS newsletter, subscribe to his BS YouTube channel, watch his incessant ad-copy, self-promos, and BS clickbait several times a day. Those sites are clearly milking info for personal profit at all costs. I sure hope Panasonic isn't working with him as it will be a dealbreaker for me if I find out (and I'm fairly sure they are). I will no longer be going to any of that guy's websites ever again for any reason.
  10. Are there any good eos r or 7d2 magic lantern videos? I saw a 5diii magic lantern vs eos r magic lantern, but found that the 5diii had more DR over the eos r. Could be a bad test. Don't have any canons left, to test myself. Strange that there are no comparison video's online. Like eos r magic lantern vs pocket 6k, a7s iii, s5 and so on.

  12. Seagate exos x20 is 10 euro /TB they are very reliable and cost effective.
  13. We'll see what this lens is all about in a few days. The term "pancake" can represent many different ideas. I think the Panasonic 26mm is going to be a truly small, but it's MF and F8. Maybe it'll just come with the camera as I can't see how they could make into a real product.
  14. Nikon has a 26mm 2.8 pancake lens that seems to have gotten positive reviews for its price/performance. It's $400US, which isn't nothing and I'm sure could be sold for cheaper. I too am baffled. Typo or they want a FF starter lens for $100ish?
  15. For Sale Blackmagic 4k. Blackmagic 6k. Blackmagic Studio. Sony A7S3, AX53. Wanted GoPro 12
  16. The producer and actor, Micheal Douglas was at the origin of this film I believe. As per wikipedia: "He sits on the board of the Nuclear Threat Initiative, is an honorary board member of the anti-war grant-making foundation Ploughshares Fund and he was appointed as a United Nations Messenger of Peace in 1998."

  18. So, I guess the pancake is a 26mm f8 manual focus lens. What were they thinking? I guess I'll stick with my GX800 + 14mm f/2.5 as it's probably better in every way if the goal is "small".
  19. At least the real time LUTs are confirmed. https://x.com/photojoseph/status/1791337358216077501?s=46&t=5rTDhHeUafLdFmL78MFFYQ https://x.com/photojoseph/status/1791337382324900303?s=46&t=5rTDhHeUafLdFmL78MFFYQ
  20. I think the price will decide whether this is a success or not. Priced right with Panasonic's usual feature set, reliability and ease of use, this could well open up the L-Mount to the masses. If not it'll probably be a waste of time.
  21. Yes, that's right. No fan either. The hot shoe is actually a cold shoe. Also, it's much chunkier than previously though to believe IMO but still rather small. For video and for the price, I'd think the FX30 which is only marginally bigger would be a better choice as there are so many video features on it (4k 120fps, for one) that this camera will not have. It's really too bad they didn't go with the flip-up screen; invariably, there are as many or more people wanting the flip-out one. We'll see on the 22nd what this thing is really about.
  22. I will tell you a secret... https://phfx.com/tools/panSpeedCalc/
  23. if 7d2 magic lantern matures, probably it. can do 1080p 60p s35 no alias no moire. the major issue is just like 5d3ml, no realtime high res preview on its own lcd. crop mood is so good for this. I like eos m, 100d too, although ml is not as stable as 650d/700d, but smaller, especially m, with a pancake lens, not much larger than the GoPro 12.

    24p is outdated

Please provide a clear and objective definition for "not usable".
  25. This is a good video summary where they tested various aspects to see what mattered.. However, as someone who actually uses Resolve on a low-end machine where I hit the limitations of it all the time, the two biggest points were: Different parts of Resolve (Edit page, Colour page, Fusion) use different aspects of the computer (CPU, GPU, RAM) Once your machine can edit smoothly on the footage / codec / timeline settings you have, getting a better spec only improves render times but doesn't impact your experience of using it

    24p is outdated

c300 og with nano flash 280 mbps I frame 59.94i 1080p is good enough for slow panning. c300 og's stock 50 mbps 23.97p and 29.97p 1080p are not usable for slow panning. I use 59.94p timeline in davinci resolve, and get 60p footage, seems fine.
  27. The rumor site confirmed today that there is no mechanical shutter and the pancake prime is a very slow lens cap lens.
