Vitaliy Kiselev moving closer to GH1 live HDMI output?

    Andrew Reid (EOSHD)By Andrew Reid (EOSHD)July 26, 2010 News 1 Min Read

‘Tester13’ has identified the sensor modes and parameters related to the HDMI output of the GH1 with an aim to enable live output for monitoring simultaneously while recording, or even uncompressed HD signal for recording footage on an external device (such as Nanonflash, above).

In an update Vitaliy said that the goal is a complex one but that progress is continuing:

We know how all related parameters as set from menus, how they are adjusted according to each other (like HDMI mode if you select other standard) and many other things.

Tester13 is also working to disable AGC for better sound recording.

Could another break-through be around the corner?

Nothing is certain but this comes as a reminded that the firmware hack is still progressing and moving toward the right goals.

Please let Panasonic know that there is demand for live HDMI output for monitoring, a better codec out of the box and a few basic concessions to professional features like disabling AGC on our forum. With the GH1 continuing to evolve outside of Panasonic’s control the Panasonic GH2 must be a compelling buy for us, creatively, and not just for ‘rich businessmen’ upgrading from compacts.
