  1. I personally don’t get anything beyond 24mp. I could zoom in 400% on Pana s1 raw images and see great detail.
  2. Eventually yes, the bigger the better as they say. Size matters 😉
  3. Or just get a Panasonic s1 that does both along with amazing stills. You don’t have to pick and choose anymore.
  4. It may be unfair but it's just how it is for me. I am not going to keep a Fuji around when my Panasonic cameras can do unlimited recording. I wouldn't care but its been an annoying thing to have to deal with on several shoots, enough to where I'd not warrant keeping it over a Panasonic. For weddings I had an external recorder to bypass that, but micro HDMI is too fragile. Plus record limits are just a pointless gimp. The camera is perfectly capable of recording past that, especially in 2k. As to rolling shutter its not usually noticeable, but its nice to have low or global shutter for handheld.
  5. I guess its more about motion blur than framerate. I haven't shot much at 60p with 60 shutter.
  6. We've seen that the Canon R5 can actually handle 8k recording without overheating in most situations and its mainly a software limitation. I am not too worried about Sony pulling it off.
  7. Unlimited recording, full size HDMI, and Prores RAW would be a big start and both fairly easy implementations. Record limits are a big reason I sold my fuji along with micro HDMI. I just can't really take a camera seriously that has a 30 minute record limit, at least they could have gotten rid of it for 2k recording. Micro HDMI is unacceptable too IMHO. The only other ask for me would be improved rolling shutter. It would be nice if the rolling shutter performance on the A7S3 and Canon R5 could be the standard going forward. The first three things I mentioned would be enough for me to buy it though.
  8. Yeah but you may end up not being happy with the results and wasting your money. I'd definitely find ways to add weight to the rig. If you can get it to around 4-5 pounds you'll probably be in good shape. You might still have a hard time getting precise movements with it, especially as an inexperienced operator. Gimbals end up saving a lot of money as they essentially negate the need for a very experienced and very expensive steadicam operator. Of course a steadicam can do things a gimbal can't but for lower end stuff a gimbal is just the way to go.
  9. Andrew reviewed it here. https://www.eoshd.com/review/4k-is-here-blackmagic-production-camera-review/ As long as you understand what that you'll be shooting at iso 400 and no higher you'll be good. Keep in mind also that if you push it to iso 800 in post you'll start seeing fix pattern noise. So make sure you are exposing properly. Having some fast glass will help if you are shooting at night, as long as you have light sources. You'll definitely have to light dimly lit scenes. The plus side is 12 bit RAW will look and grade quite nice and of course the global shutter.
  10. 60p looks weird. People say it looks like real life but I don't agree. My eyes see motion blur if I wave my hand quickly. 30p does make panning smoother unless you pan really slow then 24p is fine. I'd be hard pressed to see a difference between 30p and 24p outside of panning.
  11. Steadicam copies often don't as many ways to adjust your balance, haven't been a big fan of any of the ones I've used. If I buy another "steadicam" it will be from Steadicam. Of course you pay a premium for it. The other issue is steadicam's are made to be used with a lot of weight. The more the better really. Something like an XT3 is extremely light. You'll have a much easier time with a gimbal.

    R5 vs R6

Yeah I’m sure new tech is coming soon. I am not an Apple guy but the specs were too good to pass for the relatively low price.

    R5 vs R6

Just get the Apple M1, H265 for days. If the R6 had the rolling shutter performance of the R5 I’d buy it.

    R5 vs R6

Bro I think you know that the R6 will be a great option for you. Think of what you’ve had to work with using canon in the past. You’re getting 4K 10 but super 35 with PDAF. Despite all the limitations I think that’s all you really need, realistically. If you have 2K laying around I’d definitely get the R5 but I don’t think it’s something you need or will really miss not having. My two cents.
  15. I definitely think with 24fps you have to be very precise when panning or you get that jitter effect.
  16. Yeah Nikon allows you to load custom profiles into the camera. It's actually a really cool feature. It's not like lowering contrast or saturation on existing profiles.
  17. The pocket has held steady. It’s price/capabilities haven’t been matched and may not be for a long time. No one wants to jump into the cheap RAW game.
  18. Yeah really depends how you are shooting. It does seem very camera dependent too. Definitely a difference between 8 and 10 bit on the Pana S1, when shooting in Log.
  19. There is a test floating about comparing R5 Raw to the Z Cam F6 and Panasonic S1H. The R5 seemed about the same as both cameras in the dynamic range department. They just need CLOG2 or 3 in the 10 bit modes to get the most out of the sensor.
  20. Yeah the URSA is not made for that kind of shooting. The Pockets are but they are certainly not the best for it. Rather have my Panasonic S1 for run and gun. Its certainly doable on the Pocket cameras. You just have to do a lot of battery swapping. We're all spoiled now.
  21. I think the Pocket's bodies would make more sense with a bigger internal battery and a tilt screen. I like the ursa bodies for the internal ND's and they are bigger enough where you can shoot handheld stably even on longer lenses (50mm). The Pocket 6k sensor in an URSA body would make a lot of sense to me. It'll be interesting to see what they do with the 12k sensor tech on lower end stuff if anything. Maybe an URSA ultra mini 8k 😅
  22. Yeah I mean if you are pushing those shadows I think it becomes more apparent, depending on your eye and the amount you push color around. But yeah 12 bit BRAW is incredible to being with. Would be sweet if BM used the Sony A7S3 sensor in a camera. You'd get that great dual gain ISO as well as low rolling shutter. No 6k though. The Zcam e2g is coming soon but at 6k you might as well get the komodo and get the redraw.
  23. The big difference is the REDRAW will just look richer with 16bit colordepth vs 12, especially when not exposing perfectly or pushing the files hard. Both are great codecs though. The P6K rolling shutter isn't great that is the big difference for me.
