  1. The second two videos mention the focusing on darker skinned people issue. Looks like you already saw the Brandon Washington video though. I guess with auto focus I just want something reliable. Sony seems to have gotten there as well as certain Canon cameras. Its too bad the C70 doesn't have the same AF abilities as the 1DXMK3.
  2. I am sorry if that was insenstive. I am not joking about it not focusing well on darker skinned people though. It's pretty well documented in reviews. Could just be underexposure I guess but the 1DXMK3 and R5 don't have that issue. I can pull up the reviews if you like.
  3. Yes I've used them on every non full frame camera I have owned. I thought you were trying to say two cameras one being a S35 speedboosted and the other full frame with the same lens and F stop would not have the same amount of bokeh.
  4. Yes exactly. Many have pointed out its not as good as the R5 or the 1DX MK3. The biggest issue is it doesn't focus well on darker skinned people. Racist focusing system lol. But yeah it seems to be behind for some reason.
  5. I only have experience with the Fuji 23mm f2, 50mm f2, and the 18-55 2.8. The 18-55 is pretty reliable but the other two would randomly lose focus in simple interview type situations. There was also focus pulsing which isn't that noticeable but once you see it you can't unsee it. Didn't really discover these things until using it quite a bit though.
  6. I’m talking about with a speedbooster. A S35 camera with a speed booster and a 35mm lens will look the same as a full frame camera with a 35mm lens. There is often a slight difference as most speedboosters reduce the crop slightly less than 1:1.
  7. What? Speedboosters effect DOF as well. A full frame camera and a S35 camera speedboosted with the same lens will look the same. Yeah this is only true with 6k sensors. Yeah the Sony really takes the lead for me. If Canon hadn't of gimped the C70's auto focus is might be a different story. RAW recording on the Sony is also a big advantage. Combine those two things with E-ND and its no contest for me. The C70 also takes a hit in dynamic range at 4k 120p, not a big deal but just another thing.
  8. I mean its a $500 difference as the XT4 can be had new for $1500.
  9. If you want good auto focus I'd get Canon or Sony. I've tried Fuji and it's just not reliable enough, I end up going back to manual focus and at that point why I am I paying for auto focus glass. It's an expensive feature.
  10. Panasonic is behind Fuji but for me Fuji wasn't good enough to be relied on so going back to Panasonic wasn't an issue as I was opting to manual focus with the Fuji. It might not be a coincidence that the only two companies with excellent AF also make their own sensors.

    Redundancy

It's definitely daunting but the world is smaller than we think. While there is more content than ever there are more niches than ever. Old content is also replaced by new. It's probably more about marketing than the content itself.
  12. Yeah Nikon is really lackluster for not having a cine line to protect. Whats the deal with that? Do they just not think its worth it to put any money into mirrorless these days?
  13. I wonder if shooting RAW makes a difference with motion. Definitely a puzzling figure. I don't think rolling shutter has much to do with it as a lot of cameras Blackmagic or RED don't have great performance in that regard but seem to have fine motion cadence. Could be sharpening though BM has artificial sharpening, at least on the Pockets. The S1/S1H seem to be pretty organic looking with sharpness though. Who knows...
  14. I think it's more about processing than sensor. Dynamic range is nice but newer Sony sensors have that taken care of. The GH5 is a little outdated in that department. The Pocket 6k, Fuji XT3, and Sony A6300 line all have similar sensors but all look quite different to me. Color depth is more what I lust over now. After owning a RED for a short period of time I've realized how much less color information is in a 10 bit file, at least of the Panasonic variety. I have yet to compare it to a Blackmagic camera to see how the 12bit BRAW holds up. I do quite like the old Pocket camera, just hate it ergonomically and the crop is also a pain.
  15. Panasonic announced the S1 will get internal 10 bit 4k 60p as well as RAW out. Better deal as it has full hdmi. I always found Fuji to have pulsing issues as well as just moments of randomly losing focus. It works great sometimes just not reliable like Sony and Canon's best implementations.
  16. It's the best hybrid at its price point imo. A7S3 is awesome but it just won't cut it for stills for many or most. If Panasonic or Fuji's auto focus was up to par it would be a different story. Who would have thought Canon was offering the best specs at the lowest price point. If they allow clog2 or 3 in a firmware update it would really be great.
  17. 20ms really is perfectly fine at least for most things. For a camera at this price point with these features I'd not complain too much. 30ms in full frame UHD is definitely a bummer though. But again for most scenarios where I'd be using a hybrid it's manageable.
  18. A used Panasonic S1 is a great deal and the IBIS is lovely. I never found Fuji AF reliable enough to rely on it so switching to Panasonic was no loss for me. You'll find the S1/S5 to be one of the best low light performers on the market. It also has some of the best dynamic range and IQ of any camera at its price range. It definitely punches above its weight. I like to think of it as a poor man's FX9. Fuji's 120fps beats Panasonic though. Fuji color is also nicer though not as much if you are shooting log. The XT3 is very capable but if you really need IBIS there is no better option than a Panasonic S1 IMO, at least in the 2k price range.
  19. I think it just depends what you look for in an image. The XT3 codec is much thinner than 12 bit BRAW and just doesn't have the same amount of color information. Won't always be noticeable of course and if you like the Fuji color science that's a huge advantage.
  20. You think the P4K outperforms the A7S3/FX3 in terms of dynamic range?
  21. I wouldn’t call the Sony’s weak but the s1/s1h/s5 is definitely better.
  22. True although Panasonic is great in crop mode and 4K 60p. The latest Sony 4K 12mp sensor is obviously better but you have to pay for it and of course you lose 6k stills. You can always get the $6000 Sony A1.
  23. The S1 is better for some reason. 24ms in 5.9k 29p and 21ms at 4k 29p. Pretty much average for the sensor it uses. Obviously behind compared to Sony's latest stuff although its likely better than the Canon r6.
  24. Fuji XT3 is awesome for around $800 used. The 10 bit H265 codec sucks if you don't have the right computer. Though you can record in 2k or HD to ease that. Of course there is the option for H264 8 bit. The GH5 is great especially with a speed booster. Can't beat its HD and of course the 4k is great.
  25. I don't know the A7S3 sold fine. I just think it's a lame release. Could be of interest if they don't have the nasty NR that the a7s3 has but it looks like its still there. Still hoping they'll disable it on a firmware update for the S3. Having features like TC in would make sense and I don't think people looking at a FX6 would go down to the FX3 just for timecode. But what do I know.
