I wonder it what possible universe being asked to reduce social contact and to take simple precautions like wearing a mask in enclosed spaces, during a pandemic that has so far killed half a million Americans (and many more the world over) can be characterised as 'slavery'. I mean, it's not like there's any shortage of examples of *actual* slavery available to see in the historical record of the good ol' USA.

Yeah I hope to shoot again in 2021, as 2020 has been a dud shooting wise. Allthough 2020 was not a bad year for me, got way more time for the family, got to work from home saved me a countless hours of travel/traffic/getting ready.

I do kinda agree with Tom Cruise though, I think you would be pissed off as well, if you are investing millions into a movie, changing heaven and hell to work around the virus and then some people neglect the safety rules, which could end up shutting down the movie, putting a lot of families in financial trouble. I get annoyed as hell from watching TV where the speakers are not respecting the covid rules. Sitting too close togheter, not wearing any masks etc. Its not that hard.. Dont do it for yourself, but do it for your family, your friends, the healthcare, your job. Each infection has the potential to create a new lockdown, its a vicious circle. If everybody just took necessary precautions we would already be out of this mess.

When in the future an even more super deadly virus breaks out, I will not wait on the goverment or anybody else to take action, as it turns out A LOT of people are unresponsible (including friends, family, coworkers, goverment,...). And the only option is to isolate yourself completely. I don't want to sound like a prepper nutjob. But I think everybody can take their own conclusion about human kind in general.

    It's been a weird year but I can't complain.
We once again how incompetent our governments were, and that it's "do as we say, do as we do" as we saw plenty of them break the rules, which would result in fines if they were just regular citizens. I'm no tinfoil hat person, but in many places (mostly speaking about Europe) the coronavirus is used to monger fear and some of the new regulations have nothing to do with Corona anymore, just a wacky power trip to take away our freedoms (can't film cops anymore in France) and getting as much money out of people's pockets.  All you see in the news is covid, covid, covid although in Belgium three times more people died from cancer and heart attacks. We don't see banners pop up every ten seconds about how bad smoking is, or one newspaper article out of 2 that obesity kills.  Our hospitals don't have the capacity because the same minister of health that is imposing drastic lockdowns and huge fines and other crazy stuff cut through health budget years ago, something he will never mention.  Also, old people die, that's how life has worked since ever.
The news feels rigged. Social Media is rigged. I got fact checked on facebook about a comedy sketch about Covid and blocked for 7 days. I don't share conspiracy bullshit, this was, pure comedy. Everywhere on social media there are banners about Covid, if you mention it in on facebook, there will be an extra warning in a window. If a video is about covid on youtube, it's surrounded by banners and also has a mention of "learn more about the WHO vaccine trials". Yup, I know it's there, no I don't wanna be sick, but I also don't wanna be spammed/attempted to be brainwashed 300 times a day. Where did the hot milfs in my area go? At least they sounded fun.

Youtube is an advertising platform with content, not the other way around.  But as influencers are afraid to speak up about shortcomings, we only get "awesome" "focus on the good things" results as they are part of the marketing ploy of the big companies. That's why on the release day of a camera, suddenly you will see 50 different tech reviewers review the same products, clickbait titles and filling the air with as many possible words to have their video as long as possible. Oh, and plenty of them don't know half what they're speaking about, are mediocre camera operators at best, and some are literally worse than dogshit.

This is all because of this cofake-1984 pandemic hoax... People be aware. They are destroying jobs, economy, everything, for the great reset. These draconian measures are being implemented by these technocrats globalists... There is no pandemic. No health problem, only a political one... Devide and conquer, this is their aim...
We have to fight their agenda... otherwise we will be all out of business soon. There is no cure for the hunger virus.

Yes, everything that goes against the official narrative, makes you mad, because you cannot live in a world other than the one thought world, you cannot live without believing that the system cares for you: The nazis used to say: it is for your own safety... so you use the same strategy communist use to avoid discussion, that is. labeling people: like tinfoil, saying that someone that question this covid fake pandemic believes in flat earth, is a conspiracy theorists.... well, I f I'm all of that, and if you believe that something created by Bill Gates's propaganda machine, that affects only 1% of the entire population can harm you, well, you are just a useful Idiot, as Lenin said... I know the forum right for you: its called OCD Forum, it deals with the virus fear paranoia, and it has no cure, unlike cofake LOL

I wish... Covid 19 is destroying business, as it was planned, by the great reset-the 4th revolution. It ruined my life, and many others... It is an important subject... it is an unavoidable subject right now, because it is the cause of all this economic crisis, not the virus of course, it never was about the virus, but the draconian measures taken... I fear for the camera industry... chinese smart phones will kill the business, now with the help of covid measures, and corrupt leaders... 😞

I'd like to welcome Kazuto Yamaki, CEO of Sigma and the product manager of the Sigma Fp and Cinema lenses, Takuma Wakamatsu to the pages of EOSHD for this long interview!
I have recently been shooting with anamorphic with my Sigma Fp - the video you can see above is shot with the Rapido Technologies FVD-16A focus module housing a tiny Bolex Moller 8/19 anamorphic. I have more on this soon, as well as how ProRes RAW performs on the Sigma Fp attached to Atomos Ninja V.
Ever since the Sigma embarked on the high quality ART lenses the company's factory has output higher and higher quality products, even industry leading lenses in fact. Now the Sigma Fp marks their entry into filmmaking cameras too with internal 4K RAW recording, external ProRes RAW and even BRAW - as well as being the smallest interchangeable lens full frame camera available on the market.

    I tried to download it.
It lets you download 8K of it but then you have to wait an hour.
Or you can continue to download 4K at a time every 10 minutes for two hours.
If you are downloading to an external drive though you can carry on downloading as much of it as you want.

Geoff_L reacted to Andrew Reid in Canon EOS R5 / R6 overheating discussion all in one place
R6 is only 20 megapixel, no excuses really.
What is it doing differently to a 20 megapixel GH5 in 10bit 4K? to create so much extra "heat"? And that camera is 3 years older. Full frame sensor doesn't create a lot of extra heat.
What's it doing differently to an S1?!
Another example of the new-for-2020 style cripple hammer.

Yes, I don’t get all these color purists.
    We aren’t shooting 8-bit h264 anymore.
Once you go above 8-bit color codec, excluding doing crazy color changes, you can pretty much match any camera you want with any other camera within a certain margin of error.
Lets not forget of course that our eyes perceive color totally differently! Even further, individuals color “pleasing-ness” is such a deep rabbit hole as to make it impossible to say any camera has “the best color.”
That leaves DR, highlight roll of, compression artifacts, and the mystical motion cadence as the biggest differentiators. You can tweak the highlight roll off a tiny bit, but not much. That is mostly down to how good the sensor is, ie 16-bit linear off an ARRI versus 12-bit or 14-bit log off of something like this A7Siii.
And finally, if it’s not your job to get the best image you can on a multi-tens of millions of dollars movie and you are focusing so much on the colors out of your camera...you are optimizing the wrong thing my friend.

    No it doesn't.
It reads the temperature status from the API.
This is an entirely different thing to the temperature as a value, which is being read from the EXIF in the exposed image.
The temperature status is the camera's own interpretation of its internal temperature with relation to what restrictions it will apply to camera operations.
When this is "normal" everything is, well, "normal" and the camera is reporting that there is no cause for alarm or any restrictions.
It then goes through an escalation process of different inhibitors including, amongst other things, restricting fps, reducing image quality and prohibiting recording.
There is no interpretation other than by Canon of that status as it is being reported through the API.
The temperature in the exif is being used as a comparative indicator of what the actual internal temperature (or one of them) is and provides a visual reference (as it is pointed at the screen of the app) to cross reference which inhibitors are activated and deactivated as time progresses.
The rate at which the camera is commanded to take an image is variable so I'd probably stay tuned for a few more tests at different rates.

EOSHD testing finds Canon EOS R5 overheating to be fake, with artificial timers deployed to lock out video mode. In this test, we will probe my Canon EOS R5’s actual internal temperature in Celsius, as reported by the firmware.
This week CDA-TEK and I are developing an Android app for the Canon EOS R5, which connects to the camera via the Canon API...

So, shouldn't money be raised and gave to magiclantern, in order to reform the past team and hack this to give us something usable 😄 ?
Concerning the "it is not a professional video camera" argument (or excuse), something is worth mentioning : at forums, especially dpreview, everybody was complaining that canon gave the camera to videographers/ youtubers to review, thus the first infos we had were almost only on the video side of the camera. They were desperate to find a proper photography oriented review. In France, one of the biggest video youtubers came back to canon, from sony, and was given the r5 to make videos, review, long lives etc.
So yeah, "not a professional video camera", but, as Andrew said, a heavily marketed "video camera", gave to videographers by canon to review.

Geoff_L reacted to Andrew Reid in I bought a Canon EOS R5 - potential overheating solutions
So going back to the actual internal design of the EOS R5...
The questions Canon need to answer are:
    1. Why is a circuit board sitting between the main CPU and back casing, blocking the heat from spreading away into the chassis
    2. Of course, why is there no thermal conductive material on the CPU?
    3. And why does the RAM thermal pad overlap onto the CPU, but not entirely cover it? (It seems to spread the heat from the RAM onto the CPU which is never a good idea).
    4. Why does ice not cool the camera and speed up recovery time? The firmware recovery countdown timer is so slow to go back up and always the same.
And indeed they will be asked via my contact at Canon UK.
And I won't let up until they answer.
If they don't answer, they have something to hide obviously.
