I have heard Alienware is not what it was value wise years ago. Not sure what to tell you what to buy. Dell has always been good stuff. No doubt a Desktop Box is way cheaper than any Laptop that might edit 4K. I would just get up on the web and see if you can find some good comparisons. 3000 bucks ought to get the job done on a Box. The big money might be in buying a decent 4K, 5K monitor that can do HDR 2020. That is going to be the future, and it is here now. HDR is the future like it or not, a heck of a lot more than 8K is ever going to be for years to come.
Heck even a few Phones do true HDR now, and a lot of them can view it on the display. A lot of videos are going to look pretty weak not using HDR when it gets damn popular. My son and I were in Best Buy a few months ago and particularly Sony TV's that had HDR were a True standout compared to those that didn't have it. You could spot them half way across the store. They are that good.

The stills feature of the P4K is not intended for photography. It's intended as a quick way to capture the scence so that you can recreate the look for continuity when filming a production that stretches over several days. So characters will have the same hairstyles on day one of filming as they do on day two for example. 
This is why it captures in the same resolution as the video. You will be sadly disappointed should you believe this functionality means it is a hybrid camera.

That might be true, but I am still looking I think at buying a Canon C100. Just a lot less hassle battery, buttons, memory space, and even grading wise.

Relax dude not saying P4K is trash lol I just said I'm gonna wait til next year, aside from the problems posted, it's also out of stock  

Saw a discussion about this on Facebook in the EVA1 owners group, some are quite sad at how far the prices of EVA1 have fallen recently!

As a non-EVA1 owner this however is good news :-P 

I agree.  $2000+ for the camera, when you can actually (pre-)order it for $800 less?  Might as well get a Canon C100 or the Ursa and be done with it.  Like some others, not in no rush to get it.  Wait until all pre-orders are done for it to sell solid.  The camera itself is looking good so far.

Not gonna wait for a perfect cam, just gonna wait until next year to get a P4K. Dont want to pay shipping to ship back a defective one to Blackmagic then pay again to ship it back to me.
Samsung SSDs are really fast and been looking for a good 1TB deal for quite some time (already have the 250gb)

I mean if P4K owners say it's perfect then it's perfect, and that these problems are isolated cases. In my opinion I'm gonna wait it out.

There are still some kinks to iron out. So I'm gonna wait til next year for next production P4K. By then, there will be a ton of advice / workarounds for some of its problems. No rush to buy unless you really need that Blackmagic RAW.

Why not get one now and then put it on Ebay and make a quick profit!

I've got the Hoya ProNDs 1,3, and 6. I recently switched to the Firecrest 1,3 and 6. Still have the Hoyas though. I use Xumes for quick swapping

Man this camera is looking like you have to have about 20 extra things to make it work. Hmm, It is moving off my radar screen more and more every day. This is like going back to 1990 stuff. You had to buy a Van just to haul all the stuff you needed.

I'm also curious about this. I still have my G80 even though I use GH5, GH5s, A6500 in paid shoots. I really like it, it's small and so versatile. I also envy friends and family who bring their lightweight g80 to trips and can just store it anywhere lol

Vignette is another filmic/cinematic look which in addition to IR pollution is just making this camera more an more attractive!

Isn't the truth now that all modern cameras produce very good images and the differences between them are more a matter of taste and style than of one being markedly better than another. The flaws I see in footage these days seem to come more from operator error in either the capture or the post production stages.

I've got the Ninja V - it works well but has some issues with the zebra accuracy ( see my other post)

What's the point in comparing a non focal reducer adapter with a focal reducer adapter? The Viltrox doesn't have any flocking on the internal surfaces ( just like the early version Metabones non focal reducer adapters) but it's a pretty easy job to add some.

Well it has 14 five star reviews out of 14. Can't be too bad. ? The last 2 reviews of the 14 say they are using it on a Atomos recorder. So sounds like a winner.

Heard there's some problem with the Atomos and Fujifilm with using vlog and lut. I think there's a thread here and dvxuser about that. Can't confirm though but just a heads up
