Agree. Besides, it's not like those 6K Panasonic or 8K SHARP cameras can shoot RAW, although the resolution is quite attractive. They'll still have that "Digital" look. ML Raw is truly MAGIC. It will be developed even further in the near future.

Hence, why Magic Lantern on the M50 would work so well. You'd have DPAF, flip-screen, and the focal reducer option for your full-frame lenses, not to mention C Mount possibilities too.

I recently purchased the Original BMPCC and have only tested it gently using a Lumix 20mm f1.7. I'm waiting for a Metabones Speedbooster to arrive to officially test it with my awesome lens pile, but so far I can say the EOS M RAW is sharper and more detailed. People describe the BMPCC as having "cinematic" image due to its soft cinema look. it's like someone stuck an invisible 1/8 Black Pro-mist filter in front of the sensor. Until the other gears arrive for the BMPCC, I really do prefer the EOS M.

With ML Raw, you really need to expose to the right as much as possible. I don’t think a 1.2 lens at ISO 100 in a dimly lit room is enough light.
With the 5D3, which is better in lowlight than the eos-m, I’ll be at ISO 400 in a well lit room with a 1.4 lens. In a dimly lit room, I’d be at 800 or 1600 ISO.

I've used the Viltrox EF-EOSM2 Speedbooster with a 50 1.8 STM and even at F1.2 and ISO 100, there was a lot of noise in a dimly lit room. Some is fine, of course - it adds that film-like grain.
Your footage here looks great though:
Must re-try with at least one good source of light, perhaps also the dual-ISO option, and to bring down the shadows as you have in the clip above.

Thanks. I'll definitely try that dual ISO. 12-13 stops of DR is very appealing too.
I have wondered if there's something wrong with my copy of the EOS M because the noise is terrible indoors and without a lot of light. Hopefully it's user error.

Dual ISO 100/400 (I feel 100/800 is too aggressive) really helps heaps in tough situations and gets you 12.9-13 stops of DR. I haven't had any issues with Low light! Use a speed booster, keep ISO @100, and use a fast lens (at least f1.4 for the night). Cinema companies still use noise reduction software, so that can be included in the editing workflow if needed.

Perhaps a silly question from an about-to-be first time ML user: does the EOS M autofocus work with Magic Lantern?

If the EOS R RAW and C200 4:2:2 were coming at NAB, Canon would have announced them by now?

Surprisingly I find Digital IS pretty capable on the EOS R so far, with only a small extra crop but a LOT more steady compared to nothing... And competitive with IBIS... which is the most surprising thing. There aren't any artefacts from micro-jitter. It's pretty well locked down. Even pans work out well.
IBIS on the Z7 is superior, but yes the floaty look is there and not very cinematic. The lazy temptation is there to use it and leave your handheld camera skills and tripod at home
The Z7 IBIS seems in-between Sony and Panasonic for effectiveness, so it's an improvement on the A7 III but not as good as a GH5.
I'd put the EOS R DIS in between the two as well. So actually more locked down than an A7 III.
So far the EOS R is earning a bit of a niche for itself in my crowded camera bag. And that too is unexpected.
    It's a bit like a Canon GH5S.
That also has a 1.8x crop and no IBIS.
On the EOS R we have 480Mbit ALL-I or 120Mbit IPB codec so pretty similar to the GH5S as well. The 10bit vs 8bit issue is controversial and needs proper testing, because the Canon colours appear at first impressions to bridge the gap or even exceed how pleasing the 10bit files are on the GH5S.
Even the ergonomics feel similar between the two cameras. Both have very similar screen quality, same articulated design, similar EVF resolution and size.
The one area the GH5S is definitely superior is rolling shutter.
But the EOS R is FAR superior for video AF and tracking.
Also it is a 5D Mark IV standard full frame camera with your EF lenses for stills and 1080p, whereas the GH5S requires a Speed Booster to get close to that look and it is not 30MP.
Stay tuned for my EOS R review tomorrow, it may surprise.

RF to EF speedbooster adaptor would be interesting in 4K.
