  1. Yeah really odd too considering the XT3 has a similar sensor yet way better 1080p. Plus they haven't improved it yet have released like 4 different A6 cameras with the same sensor ?
  2. I've been using the Pixel on set which is 220w, definitely has some fan noise but its not bad. I wonder how much worse it is on the Godox and neewer. I may just get one along with a 60w. I like throwing light in through windows so it could be used for that if nothing else
  3. Yeah the Godox looks nice but the 60ws aren't quite enough power for me. They do make their own 200w version but there are some complaints of fan noise. I heard some people have modified these types of lights with quieter fans.
  4. speaking of lighting I am eyeing this guy right now https://www.amazon.com/Neewer-Dimmable-Continuous-Photography-Interview/dp/B07RKSCXJ5 Seems to be the cheapest in its caliber
  5. His complaint about the footage not looking flat in RAW is stupid. However what do you make of the gradient issue? That does seem pretty horrid looking.
  6. IBIS is definitely helpful if you want to be able to just run around with a camera and no equipment. I was shooting on the S1H today in Super35 mode at 70mm and getting really stable footage. The question to upgrade or not would be if the new camera would solve problems for you. If you are doing fine with the G7 there's not a need to upgrade beside gear lust.
  7. Yep V30 cards work fine, on the XT3 as well. As others have said lighting and lenses are a big factor. If you are adapting glass and not using native lenses don't matter as much. If you don't light you stuff dynamic range goes a long way though.
  8. Yes but it can't do H264 in 10 bit unfortunately which is a bummer for me. It just means I have to transcode everything, which isn't the end of the world, just an inconvenience. The record limit on the XT3 is another bummer, though 30 minutes in 4k isn't terrible. Its only 15 minutes on the XT30 though. I've also had overheating on the XT30 shooting in 4k.
  9. The jump in IQ is definitely more noticeable with the XT3. The GH5 has the best 1080p though, virtually no moire/aliasing. The XT3 is definitely more prone to moire and aliasing but less so in 4k. The XT3 definitely is ahead in the 4k department having 10 bit in 4k 60p. Its 120p also beats the GH5's imho. The extra stop and a half of dynamic range is noticeable on the XT3 coming from the GH5, even more noticeable coming from a G7. If you have a slower PC the GH5's H254 10 bit is nice, especially in 1080p. 10 bit H264 200mbps All-I runs nicely in premiere. Fuji you are stuck with H265 which is a bitch, but if you have a better PC its no problem. If you can link up with some local video people and test out the cameras that's always the best way. You'd be surprised how many people would be willing to do that. I think you'd definitely appreciate either camera. The IBIS on the GH5 can be magical.
  10. The CFAST cards suck, an SSD would be way better. Still a pretty compelling camera.
  11. Its the time to be alive for Indie filmmakers. Cheap high quality audio equipment is also abound. The Zoom F6 has so much dynamic range its almost impossible to set the levels wrong all in something smaller than a loaf of bread. High powered high CRI LED's are also becoming affordable. The Pixel video light has a similar output to a 1500w fresnel and its only $450.
  12. Used XT30's are going for a crazy low price right now around $700 + a used 18-35 is only $250-$270. If you are willing to go used.
  13. Yeah thats what I meant. Fuji to canon, canon to fuji or whatever needs be
  14. Yeah the codec is a huge plus. I don't care much about RAW but the compressed RAW can be smaller file size wise than prores so thats a big plus. The mount is great. I wish it could record straight to SSD tho.
  15. Yeah I think 10 bit is really visible if you are looking closely at skin, the extra color information really helps for smoother gradients. If you are pushing the grade and skin as well as blue skies seem to show up the quickest with weaker codecs. You could always soften the C100 a bit though I guess it seems a bit counter productive. I think Film convert has some easy plugins for matching Canon to Fuji, last I heard they work pretty well. Comes down to which features you like best. The Fuji XT3 has by far the best image quality of the bunch you selected. The XT30 isn't far behind though I'd spring for an XT3 especially if you get one used.
  16. If the EVA1 had an MFT mount it would be on my radar, especially as prices continue to drop. That said in terms of the GH6, I am sure it will be here soon, probably mid 2020 I'd wager. After getting a GH5 again and realizing how much I like it all I'd need to get a GH6 would be the following. Clean 6400 iso (aka GH5S sensor) IBIS 10 bit 4k 60p icing on the cake would be prores, PDAF, 4K 120fps, RAW out via USB-C, full Vlog
  17. any rough estimate when it could be out, I won't quote you on it ?
  18. You have Gen 4 for the Fuji XT3?
  19. Dynamic range in stills is really good. I've never had a situation where I wasn't getting enough dynamic range, even in really harsh conditions. The difference you'll see is when shooting higher ISO's. It just doesn't keep up past 3200 iso. I never loved the 8 bit 4k 60p on the GH5 but its amazing on the XT3.
  20. Looks like RED is getting worried about all the cheap alternatives out now or maybe they just want to expand their reach. Either way if it has great AF it will be amazing. Just the name might get me to buy one at that price.
  21. It worked! Camera looks brand new infact. I forgot how nice Panasonic ergonomics are.
  22. Well its on my radar for price alone.
