Wow, I'd love that. Though, I'm afraid I'll have to stick to ~55 / 58 mm, because most likely a speedboosted 50 mm will vignette when coupled with an anamorphic adapter in front. Great minds think alike. ? Who knows, maybe my copy wasn't that good? Not being able to focus it past 1 m was the crucial factor in letting it go. I will! My best bet right now is getting a Minolta MD 58/1.4 MC II and adapting it to EF, as @mercer suggested. I have a quite inventive engineer friend with a 3D printer, so it won't prove to be a big problem, I think. Thanks, everyone!

I've just linked this, haha! Thanks, much appreciated.

Didn't know that, big thanks! That's a shame. Regarding hitting the mirror, I really recommend this site: https://www.panoramaplanet.de/comp/ Quite difficult to get by in Poland, not sure why.

Thanks, kye! I'm not dead set on it, to be honest. What I'm looking for is a fast (f/1.4) prime with 50-60mm focal length, which after speedboosting (I've got Panasonic G85) will translate to a nice ~85mm eqv. I've already tried Auto Revuenon 55/1.4 (the one shown on the pictures) and it was quite bad. My Helios 44-4, which cost me 20$, ate it for breakfast. Pretty sharp, but contrast was really poor, it also gave a massive yellow tint (old thorium, I guess). What's more, I couldn't focus further than 1 m, since its rear lens element was so protruding that it hit my speedbooster's glass element. Fortunately, I could return it. From what I've read, almost all M42 mount 55/1.4 lenses (Revuenon, Rikenon, Chinon, Cosinon, Sears, Porst, Universar - you name it) are based on the same Tomioka's design, which doesn't really fit my combo. Minolta 58/1.4 seems nice, but I won't be able to adapt it to EF. What's left is all the Pentaxes and Takumars, right? And the holy grail - Contax Zeiss Planar 50/1.4

Does anyone know how could I adapt Mamiya Auto XTL lens to Canon EF mount? I searched all over the web and didn't find any clue, at all. EDIT:// Okay, after changing some keywords I managed to dig up this piece of information: "If you still have you Nex, the fujinon-SonyE adapter is reputed to work with ES lenses." Here is the source. This thread reveal some new info: "I'm sure an adapter could be made by an engineer, but I don't think there's a commercial option." This particular lad caught my attention: https://www.ebay.com/itm/RARE-Mamiya-Sekor-ES-55mm-F-1-4-Lens-on-Bayonet-Mount-PRIME-Lens-ONLY-1-on-eBay/292980345947?hash=item4436fd4c5b:g:~GkAAOSwYTtcDgmD
  7. That's why I wanted to participate in the first place! Just to see how other people tackle grading and how much simpler it can be. Like you said a couple of times, it's highly probable that masters of craft use only two/three tools to achieve the look and just smile when they see our sophisticated attempts to recreate that.
  8. Looks good! I had a similar goal, since I also prefer the organic, filmic feel to the image. Before: After: (My God, these stills weigh almost 24MB each..) And a quick look at my node tree: Almost all of the 'effects' are the result of ongoing discussions / experiences shared in other threads. It may seem like a time-consuming grade, but the whole node structure is saved as a still, which I just apply on every clip and then tweak a little depending on the footage. It doesn't take more than 5 minutes to grade each clip.
  9. Most likely you'll get a huge vignette if you speedboost your Helios and then add an anamorphic adapter on top. To get a vignette-free image with 2x scopes, you have to aim for at least 70/75mm 35mm eqv. Just drop the focal reducer and you're all set. I use ISCO Ultra Star and am reallly happy with it. Goes quite wide (meaning: allows me to mount a speedboosted 50mm on M4/3), does not influence sharpness and contrast and isn't that expensive. The only drawback is muted flares. If you have any more questions, ask away! Good luck!
  10. I don't want to soft-soap by any means, but it's been mostly you that have (/has?) been pointing out many useful tweaks / tricks lately, hahaha. I am most inspired by what you offer and from time to time try my best to help other people any way I can, too. It's a great thing to have you here, really. I'm not a long time member of this community, though I hope most people could agree with me. Can't really suggest any particular way to run these tests, but I'm sure the findings will prove to be a great, horizon-broadening read. Cheers!
  11. @kaylee, this is my attempt to translate those words into images:
  12. Thanks, kye, truly appreciate it. I'll get to it, then! ( :
  13. Damn, what I would give to learn how to grade.. It just makes almost anything look like a million dollars. I realize that lighting plays a huge role in creating a look.. Though, a few shots from the reel below were lit using only natural light and they are gorgeous. I hope that with Avery Peck coming back to YouTube we'll see how to tackle this.
  14. I guess it has something to do with STF - Smooth Trans Focus.
  15. I think that both a7iii and a7r iii are fully capable to handle this new AF system. Sony just want people to upgrade their bodies. When a7iii came out, many said that it was so good that they no longer see the point in buying a7s iii. Now they do. Just take a look at Fuji or Nikon Z firmware upgrades. Many, many features nobody even requested. What do Sony a7 users get? A timelapse app. Wow. Truth be told, I've already had it on my a6000 and a6300, but then Sony decided to remove all apps from Mark III bodies.
  16. I've been getting it for almost a month, haha. ?
  17. Um.. How is vimeo working on your desktops? I can't add a video to Watch Later list, nor can I like it - I get this error instead. On my Android app everything works flawlessly. Tried deleting cache, temp, logging out - didn't help at all.
  18. I'm fully aware of this. I just used this comparison to point out that in my experience 5D2, even though it's FF, performs worse than APS-C camera that can be bought for almost half the Canon's price.

Exactly. It's more laughing through tears, because I know this problem so damn well. It happens to me pretty often, too, but in my case it's movies, not music albums. I sometimes find that I can't stand watching something. And one year later - boom - I watch again and I find that there is more to this, some hidden beauty I wasn't able to perceive. It's just that our tastes develop throughout our lives. I guess this can be put down on all the things that we experience or that we are surrounded with. However, I just hate this taste changes when it comes to liking certain lens qualities, because it usually involves selling all the gear I collected last year only to replace it with another set..
  20. I'm not sure. If it works for you, then I guess it's okay. ( : I just read that some dev suggested doing a clean install to avoid conflicting files. edit: @kaylee, correct!
  21. Yup, you have to reinstall it completely. Like I said, format the card in camera and after it's done, copy the unzipped files onto the fresh and empty CF card you just took out of your 5D3. Good luck!
  22. You have to download crop_rec from here: https://builds.magiclantern.fm/experiments.html Then just unzip it and copy to your CF card. It's a different build, so format the CF card in camera (important! don't do this on your PC/Mac) beforehand.
