  1. Oh and they also added crop marks to cover up the flickering lines so they're not distracting at all while shooting. So what you see on the LCD is what your the file records, but your file does have a little bit of extra height since you can't see the bottom 1/8th (or something) of your frame while shooting... Other than that, it's perfect.
  2. Sorry to quote you again, but there's a new test build with complete realtime preview, non-cropped for 5k modes now. I just shot 2 minutes of 16:9 12bit raw without any dropped frames. I could see my framing perfectly as though I was using a native camera mode... almost. There's currently some scattered lines at the bottom of the LCD screen. It's not distracting, and they're working on it. but seriously, I would advise you to use this build. I just used the 5k anamorphic 16:9 frtp preset and laughed at how good it was. https://bitbucket.org/Dannephoto/magic-lantern_jip_hop_git/downloads/crop_rec_4k_mlv_snd_raw_only_2020Sep21.EOSM202_frtp.zip
  3. That's what I thought about Blackmagic RAW stills. Then I remembered it only makes things harder to edit really. For example, at the moment stills on the pocket cameras are DNGs which you can open and edit in basically anything. That's not going to be the case with Braw stills. Also, I was kind of hoping we'd see a hack to exploit the DNG stills. Some kind of rapid fire 24fps stills function, essentially bringing back DNG video, but as a hack so BMD aren't liable to the patent BS... Maybe they also thought the same and want to put a stop to such a thing before it happens.
  4. Nobody even has this camera yet, and BMD have released a pretty amazing update for it. Also updated RS readout times:
  5. According to Fuji Rumors, this update also gives:
  6. I was the same when I got mine. I don't understand how people can enjoy using those modes... Maybe if you had an optical view finder it could be fun. Now though, I never shoot more than the 1080 Rewire option. It's non-crop (other than the aspect ratio) and realtime live view. If you shoot this way, it's basically the og BMPCC with a bigger sensor and much better audio / battery. If you run through MLV APP and convert each clips to DNG frames, there's barely even any extra steps in post. As far as my test of the new builds goes, the live view in the higher resolutions and crops is getting to realtime, but they're refining it. Give it a few weeks and come back to it.
  7. One more request / suggestion: Is there a way to implement the Window Sensor mode? Assuming the camera's already set to shoot ProRes 1080p, having the window mode at your fingertips would be really cool. It would make the 18-35mm lens even better for any run'n'gun situation.
  8. That is amazing news! Looking forward to the update and AFX pre-orders !
  9. Rawlite make them for Blackmagic cameras, so it is possible. But also camera specific, and who knows if they're developing it for any other systems. https://rawlite.com/
  10. 1600 in Holland, also with an adapter for Leica M lenses. https://link.marktplaats.nl/m1586586466?utm_source=ios_social&utm_medium=social&utm_campaign=socialbuttons&utm_content=app_ios the problem is, for an extra 100 or so you can get it brand new, with warranty if you’re in a position to get tax back.
  11. Well, that bottom frame alone is enough to make me want this setup. It's been on the wish list for a while, and has been bumped up a notch, that's for sure.
  12. More Bluetooth issues with BMD updates. I imagine this will also impact the AFX Focus Module?
  13. I think Doc Brown has already made an eND like this. Oh wait, no, it was @BTM_Pix If I recall correctly, many Canon L lenses have rear filter slots. I'm not sure if there's NDs built for them, but I would assume so. And there may be a few other lenses with a similar design.
  14. If anything you'll gain quality as there isn't any extra glass between the lens and the sensor.
  15. As for distribution and recouping any money - I'm not really thinking that far ahead. There's a big story to tell and it's going to take at least a year of filming with him every week to get all of the information. Then of course, there's editing it into a nice chunk with a story arc. Once the project is coming to the end, I'll worry about that. My day job is also camera / editing related, so this is just a project on the side for now.
  16. It's not really a wildlife doc. With no spoilers - There's a person I've met, who under quite strange circumstances, was given some wasteland / fly tipping hotspot in the 1970s for free from the government. It's now worth many millions of euros to developers wanting to build housing, but he's refusing to sell, even creating plans after his death to stop any form of development on the property. Since he's had it, he's cleaned it up the land and wildlife in the area has surged. I was hoping I could film the foxes and badgers that have returned. He knows every inch of the land with his eyes closed, so could help me rig up a camera at a badger's den for example.
  17. It has 2 'Inputs' and 1 'Mic' cover - potentially 2 XLRs? From the size, I can only imagine its the micro XLR like the Pockets or 1/4inch jacks. Doesn't look like there's room for an EVF either, but who knows.
  18. @BTM_Pix Thanks for very quick and effective responses, and I'm sure many people were grateful got your email about this issue, but I think you may need to send another as BMD have released a new update expected to fix the Bluetooth. I'm going to test it out this evening, and will happily report back if you'd like. https://www.blackmagicdesign.com/support/readme/a801de7e49a744b7aad008a438f27d35
  19. Thanks man. I’m sure it’s great quality! Little over what I was hoping to spend though. But thanks for the tip.
  20. Hey guys, I'm just starting to shoot a fully self funded documentary, and after filming a preliminary interview with my subject, it's clear that I'm going to need to film some late night wildlife - badgers and foxes etc. Therefore, I'm looking for a reasonably inexpensive wildlife camera - preferably with a PIR to detect movement and only film when there's something to see. Does anyone know of something suitable. From my own, limited research, I think this seems pretty good, but before committing, I figured some other opinions would be nice. https://nedis.com/en-us/product/photo-video/cameras/action-cameras/550707449/hd-wildlife-camera-16-mp-5-mp-cmos
  21. I power my BMPCC4k and 5inch Video Assist with the same V-mount battery and haven't had any issues. I use this mount on my rig: I I run a dummy battery from the 7.2v output into the camera. I've heard of people having issues using dummy batteries that deliver too much power, so this limits to 7.2v, which, if memory serves, is about the same as a half charged LPE6. Then I use a D-Tap to power the monitor. It's a neat solution because no cables connect direct to the battery, which makes swapping extremely quick and easy. The downside is, I don't have the backup of a real LPE6 in the camera. If I did, I could hotswap V-mounts and never have to turn the camera off. The plus side, is my rig is neat and tidy, hardly any visible wires and I can put it away in a bag without snagging cables that are hanging out of the ports.
  22. Ah dang, that's annoying! But at least there's an answer. What's weird, is if for example, I change the ISO on the camera, the PCB display reflects the new values. If I adjust the ISO on the PCB, the values on the PCB change, but the camera stays the same. So there is communication, but I guess it's only one way for now.
  23. @BTM_Pix - Have you heard anyone saying the REC trigger doesn't set the camera off? I was just shooting and pressed REC on the PBC, the LCD went red, but the camera wasn't recording anything. I then pressed REC on the camera and it started just fine. The PCB also couldn't stop it, although the LCD did turn back to my chosen non-red colour. If it helps, my camera is on 6.9.5. --- EDIT: I notice the ISO and Iris options also have no effect on my camera today. I tried clearing bonds on the camera and the PCB, and then reconnecting, but still no joy it getting anything to work... strange as it was working the other day.
  24. I've done this a few times, it works well and I've not noticed any quality difference between the channels. That's not to say they're equal, but any differences there are, aren't an issue. I seem to remember the XLR being slightly louder than the 3.5mm even when both mics were the same make a model and the input level was set the same. This could be to do with placement or the levels at which the talent were speaking, but thought it'd be worth noting. On option I've started to consider is to use this to run both channels through the 3.5mm. https://www.saramonicusa.com/products/sr-ax100 - it doesn't need any power, and is kind of small. The only real advantage though, is hardware knobs - I'm not a fan of touchscreen stuff.
  25. If you can bang that sledgehammer 24 times a second, then you'll essentially bring cDNG back to the camera. That really would be nuts!
