bigfoot reacted to mercer in The Canon C200 is here and its a bomb!
I’ve been watching some C200 videos on Vimeo now that the camera has been out in the wild for a little while. So I figured I’d link to a few that look pretty good. Actually every one I’ve seen looks pretty good. Wish I had an extra 6 grand lying around.
Here’s another with some lowlight footage...

Thanks, it was around -28C at it's peak during the time I was filming there. I went through 4 Sony a7s batteries in an hour. So pretty cold. Surprisingly the gimbal didn't run out of batteries and performed flawlessly.

bigfoot got a reaction from ttbek in Opinion - DXOMark's camera scoring makes ZERO sense!
Dxo marks always been like that.
It's not THE reference ..it's only a reference for those who actually know how to read the graphs and analyse some of the results. Overall score means as much as saying that the sky is blue.

bigfoot got a reaction from noone in A Camera for 3 Specific Uses
Charlie said: not fast moving subject...
Even my a7s with metabones and canon 16-35mm f4 IS was fine in AF with the center point for those subjects.
otherwise, nikon have great option also
F-mount is quite adaptable too... just focusing backward, mehhh whatever.

bigfoot reacted to aldolega in GH5 Prototype
Photo consumers are moved by things they don't understand/really need all the time, haha. Kinda reminds me a little of this:
I see no real reason for the GH5 to be a larger form factor if it can be fit into a photo-cam shape/size/weight. If Panasonic made a larger cam I would hope that it would be closer to the Varicams in ability. Like a super FS7.

Philip bloom is also a very cynical OP with depression and a very big self-esteem. Rub a lot of people the wrong way...
Kaiman Wong went easily over Philip in the "first month" (off DRTV) being on youtube, is always very sarcastic but at least he's funny and understand a bit more the youtube market.
You have to understand who is the major viewer on youtube; young geeks. Look at Pewdiepie market.... 50 millions sub

bigfoot got a reaction from noone in A Camera for 3 Specific Uses
I could send plenty of landscape example shot over the last 2 years with it... but I don't feel the need to prove anything here, just saying... the PHOTO mode is awesome too (coming off a canon 7d, canon 6d, nikon d90, nikon d70s, fuji x-pro1 past user)

You have no idea what you are talking about....?
a7s is a great camera. Raw files are amazing, pretty much any lens will be sharp with it. DR is great overall at low iso (13 stop) and really good at high iso (10 stop / 6400iso). 12mp is more than enough for anything out there ...more than that you are a pixel peeper or cropping the shit out of your photos...! Low light is out of this world. 1080p60 s35 is amazing, 4k output too.
1.1x / 1.2x / 1.3x / 1.4x / 1.5x crop without significant loss of quality
Slog2 can be tricky but isn't that hard to master and PPoff with 16-235 re map work good for colors straight off the bat.
You can adapt any kind of lens on it.
Wifi is fine and great for remote shooting.
E-shutter for timelapse - buffer is quick enough with a good card to shoot 1 fps continous for smooth sunset / sunrise
Peaking/ zebra and all that fun stuff
2.8k aps-c is upscale to 4k on the hdmi out too...
No overheating or what so ever on long recording ... i've done often 4h-6h of prores combine with the atomos shogun
Autofocus, I have not a single idea... i've never cared.
Don't hesitate to buy it... highly recommended. A great tool overall

bigfoot reacted to mercer in Canon sponsored content on DPReview
I understand why a lot of people may be upset about websites and sponsored content... I don't really care because it is listed as such.
The next argument seems to be about a filmmaker's ethics for using the 80D and overly selling the camera. Maybe he just really likes it? And the truth of the matter is this... if you can't make a good movie with the 80D, then you really can't make a good movie. People have made features with iPhones.
With that being said, obviously this short promo movie is geared towards young filmmakers and the parents who will buy them their first camera. It is geared towards vloggers who need an acceptable image with good in camera features. I mean, Casey Neistat still, proudly, uses a 70D.
But... if Canon really wanted to show the world what can be done with a Canon camera, they should have hired Kendy Ty. In fact, if Canon gave Kendy Ty an 80D and a 35mm f2 lens, I bet this thread would have evolved differently.

i love that video - hahah great to see both personalities out there and the littles dogs too! (For me a bigfoot is only the inner fear, never let it outgrow your love)
Keep on shinning guys !

I love to see her in a more natural state. I would maybe go slower in the breathing technique but ... that's just me, I like a good pause ! I have a bit of a hiccup with the green screen thingy, we don't breath stardust... go play outside guys ! :D
I love the intro on this video, I think we can see her personality shine a lot more that way.
The outro seems a lot more relax too ! It's working

bigfoot reacted to dbp in How Not To Work With A Client
I think as well, like relationships, expecting things to change is a lost cause. It's key to accept that a cheap and difficult client will always be a cheap and difficult client. Time spent trying to shape them otherwise is time *much* better spent by finding better clients. I'm definitely guilty of this trap.

Keep working out your craft - invest in yourself, in projects that matter to you, build up your portfolio. That's it
Getting better gear is only one step further of making up excuses...
What kind of video would you see youself doing ultimatly?
When I was going in school for tv production, we would create all kind of video just to find our style, our way. And we would also participate to every contest possible... Overall me and my roomate got over 5000$ in various prizes in thoses 3 years. It's great to pay back a bit of gear too and a great motivator. I don't even need to talk about the learning aspect of it !
