There is a switchable preference for out of range detection in AF-C which is to hold at current position or move to your calibrated infinity point.

thinking way... outside the box but can you control two motors ?   Like if i had a taking lens and anamorphic lens would it be possible to calibrate both lenses then not have to worry about a single focus solution ?

    Yes it does.
So if you have the Nano wheel you can also use it to set focus points for the QuadLock system etc.
You can use one of these clamps like this and then that gives you the 1/4 20 thread so the ability to mount it on an arm etc etc

A two pack of them with ball head adapters are £17 on Amazon and will give you a lot of flexibility and are just generally useful bits of kit.

Purchased, and can't wait to receive it. The original PCB made my Pocket 4k experience so much better. 2 quick questions:
    1. Will this new module still link with the nano wheel, allowing you to pull focus with ef/native lenses in addition to the autofocus?
    2. are there any good solutions for mounting the handheld controller to a cage or rail system? I understand its need, but I also rarely have a free hand while operating the camera and would hate to be putting it in my pocket or something.

    Three days to go.
The RAW shooting Sigma fp with the Baveyes 645 medium format speed booster is a little powerhouse.
Particularly when you can now add ToF autofocus to that manual Mamiya 35mm lens.

Already hinted at (heavily !) in another thread but the AFX focus control functionality is now a lot more universal than just the Pocket 4K/6K cinema cameras.

For Pocket 4K/6K owners who want to use manual lenses as well as electronic ones there is a Hybrid mode to control the lens with the motor whilst still being able to control ISO,WB etc over BLE as usual.
Supports both Nucleus N and M motors so you can use it with small lenses and large cinema ones.
    Pre-orders start on 26th. October.
Price €199 for existing PBC owners and €275 otherwise.
Nucleus M motor requires a separate adapter, price TBA.

pryde reacted to Anaconda_ in Magic Lantern 3.3k 16:9 RAW now with real time preview
Sorry to quote you again, but there's a new test build with complete realtime preview, non-cropped for 5k modes now. I just shot 2 minutes of 16:9 12bit raw without any dropped frames. I could see my framing perfectly as though I was using a native camera mode... almost.
There's currently some scattered lines at the bottom of the LCD screen. It's not distracting, and they're working on it. but seriously, I would advise you to use this build. I just used the 5k anamorphic 16:9 frtp preset and laughed at how good it was.

pryde reacted to Henchman in The "Useless" Moller 32/2. Useless no more Mod
I recently bought a Moller 32/2, with some front lens issues for cheap.
I started looking for a donor front, and found one of the "Useless" telecine versions in immaculate shape.
The lens arrived, and I swapped out the front. Except the lense didn't line up properly from one barrel to the next. So I tried loosening the ring, to adjust the lense. I could not get it to budge. So I thought, great. Waste of money. I started to compare the lenses, and noticed that the only difference between the 2 was that the telecine version had the rear lense closer to the front lense.
I took it apart, removed the focusing guides, and started shifting the front lens forward, and suddenly it focused.
I had to modify the focusing guides. allowing for only one screw to be used to fasten it. But now it's razor sharp, and with a Single focus adapter, it can focus up to 16 inches.
The easiest thing would be to loosen the back retaining ring, remove the lense. Slip in some kind of spacer to get the rear lense all the way to the rear, nd scerw the retainer ring in.

Either way, that "Useless" version of Moller 32/2, is now completely useful.

    DEVELOPMENT UPDATE
AFX has five user selectable focus transition modes. When the transition mode is set to Off, no transition is applied and the AFX snaps immediately to the new focus point.
When the mode is set to 1,2 or 3 then an increasing preset length of transition is applied from the current focus point to the new focus point.
The final mode is called Natural and applies a transition that is based upon the distance between the current and new focus points meaning that the greater the distance the longer the transition.
Focus transition mode is available in both AF-S and AF-C modes.

That's actually not true, if you upload in 4K youtube uses a different compression method for 1080p as well (VP9 vs H264) making it look much better.

AFX is the long overdue focus control expansion option for our PBC system for BM Pocket4K/6K cameras.

With AFX and its included handheld remote you can control manual focus of MFT/EF lenses but also operate our newly created Single and Continuous AF modes for the camera.
These new AF-S/C modes are made possible by the AFX’s integral ToF sensor which constantly measures object distance from the camera.
As well as allowing you to control focus using the thumbstick and AF-S/C switching, the handheld remote also enables you to map any of the camera controls such as ISO/Aperture/WB etc to five of its hardware switches as well as being able to toggle Record Start/Stop from one of its two finger trigger buttons.
All communication between the AFX, the handheld controller, the PBC and the camera are performed wirelessly and, as with the PBC, the AFX runs from its own internal battery or USB.
The AFX will be priced at €199 (plus the cost of the PBC for new adopters) and pre-orders begin next month.
Here are some basic examples of the AFX in manual focus, Single and Continuous AF modes.
In AF-S mode, current focus is held until you press the trigger button so is equivalent to half shutter press/Back Focus Button on a regular (D)SLR or mirrorless.
More to follow as the pre-order date approaches.

Nope, it’s 30p only. But shoot 1/50th and drop it on a 24fps timeline and you won’t really be able to tell much of a difference. To me, the final product doesn’t look like 30p footage.

The answer is yes. With Vlog upgrade and a recent firmware. They added it at some point with a firmware update.

    Remember it ?
All the usual caveats of "absolutely not its final form" but thought I'd show a (very) rough glimpse of its (very) rough format.
Things have been quiet on it publicly because as I said in the very original thread that what was first shown was merely a jumping off point and it pivoted into what is now a very different product.
As you should now be able to guess from this image, it is doing something a little different and offers both AF-S and AF-C modes for, lets just say, more than one focus target
The purpose of this thread, aside from the update to prove its not slid into Sony A7S-III territory, is to provide little updates on what is happening as we edge towards release of the actual product particularly as the previous thread is a bit defunct in terms of what its final form will now be.
I'll put up some video samples soon, although @Andrew Reid has had some over the past month so should be able to vouch for it actually working
I won't be getting too much into the detail about whats going on under the hood until later on and I will be doing a blog post with Andrew to provide more insight nearer the time of pre-orders which should be in August.
FYI, the cables you can see are powering the PBC and not going to the camera so no camera mod is required !
So, for now, fire away if you have any questions if you have any interest in it but if you can please just keep it to general operational stuff.

@BTM_Pix That makes sense. I figured you had thought it all through. Like i said, it's not a big deal, i just have to hit 2 buttons when i turn the camera on.
Also, really looking forward to TOF.  Probably more excited about that than any potential camera releases coming up.
