  1. Coming from the C100 which I can use up to 8000 iso without too much noise I have found the GX85 to struggle in lowlight even with a fast 1.7 lens. 1600 is ok but 3200 is borderline and 6400 quite horrid. I've been looking for a smaller lighter camera to use when filming weddings and lower budget run and gun projects as the C100 can get quite heavy when using it all day. I had been thinking about the possibility of a lightweight GX85 and GH5 (if it turns out as everyone hopes) combo for weddings along with fast lenses (I have the panny 25 1.7 and 42.5 1.7 as well as SLR magic 12 T1.6) but even with these lenses the cameras seem to struggle with noise. I know the Sony a7s would be a good choice but it would be too expensive to jump to sony at the moment as I always take 2 cameras to live events. It's a tough choice!
  2. Is there any benefit of using the metabones XL over native fast lenses like the SLR magic and Voitlanders?
  3. Very nice video. I have been experimenting with the GX85 for weddings. I usually use a canon C100 which is fantastic but heavy! My problem with the Panasonic is that it falls apart quickly after 1600 ( I have Panasonic 1.7 lenses) and it is sometimes hard to maintain exposure and colours from shot to shot. I saw that you low light stuff looked pretty good with the G7 but did you use extra lighting in the dance and when they cut the cake?
  4. This is where Canon could find a real winner. A simple but ergonomic form factor like the XC10 but with interchangeable lenses, built in NDs, IBIS and the Canon look and ease of use.
  5. A low light test of the xc10 vs the gx85 would be very interesting! The gx85 is poor above 1600 imho Did Andrew Reid ever publish his updated review of the XC10 after his trip to Italy?
  6. I'm interested to know this as well. It's what worries me about the camera.
  7. Has anyone tried the new firmware? Has it improved the XC10?
  8. Has anyone used the C mount cctv lenses on the GX85? Are there any issues with the stabiliser?
  9. Does the G80 have 422 8 bit internal recording? There seems to be a bit of confusion over this.
  10. If you are in a Pal zone you can buy the camera from Hong Kong with no recording limit in 4k (mp4) and 1080 (avchd). Cost me 50€ more including shipping than buying the camera here in Spain.
  11. Not sure but battery time will vary depending on how you are shooting. IBIS, 4k etc will use more power I'd imagine.
  12. http://www.duracelldirect.es/camara-digital/panasonic/oem-pno/dmw-blg10.html The price has gone up. I was buying them for 11€ before. Bought a charger as well.
  13. I filmed over an hour of 4k without it turning off. I bought Duracell batteries at 10€ a battery. Work fine.
  14. Thanks again Mercer! How do the cameras compare in lowlight? I have several fast lenses for the GX85 but I don't really like the images when I go over 1600iso and they don't seem to enjoy being corrected to much. I was wondering if the XC10 works better in lowlight (when wide open at 2.8) at 3200iso or more. Maybe the files give you more scope for correcting the images?
  15. I think the are quite different. I have a GX85 and I used to have a 7D and a 700D(T5i). The colours and the look of the Canons is something I like a lot. They tend to look good without having to mess around in the edit suite. The GX85 doesn't have that look but it does have 4k which looks pretty good on a 1080 timeline. The 1080 has 50p which is great for have a bit of flexibility with slomo. The stabiliser is fantastic but the sound is awful. The m4/3 lenses are so lightweight! Canon lenses seem so heavy now! I think you would need a fast lens with the GX85. The Gx85 is also tiny which can be good and bad. I couldn't imagine rigging one up like people do to the Canons!
  16. Thanks Mercer! Do you have the GX85 and the XC10? So are the low light and AF the same as or better than the XC10 with the latest firmware? Those are the big questions for me at least.
  17. So in theory it has the same AF as the XC10? I see in the Danish video the XC15 has face tracking. Does the XC10 have it too? So it's a good upgrade if you really need the sound but if you don't....probably not worth it?
  18. Are the only differences the waveform monitor and the XLR module?
  19. Canon (C100, 7D and 5dmk2 experience) Likes: Colours, menus and ease of use. On the C100 I love the ergonomics, especially the hand grip and joystick. The quality of image on those little files is amazing. Dislikes: Doing stupid things like the crap viewfinder and LCD on the C100. PSF nonsense, 50i. Mts boredom.

    Canon XC15

Mattias, has the latest firmware improved the lowlight as it was supposed to? Thanks

    Canon XC15

Even better with a lens like that! Does the XC10 really need an SDI?
