  1. I have those same legs and they weigh a freaking ton. And it's really not that easy to set it up either. Now once it is set up it is sturdy as hell, but...  And I don't think the 3063 Head is really even a real Fluid head. They are more of a industrial head, meant to take a beating. I have heard very few good reviews on it working well for heavy video use.

I mean sure for the money pretty hard to beat one though. But you are looking at 15 pounds of tripod and head here to move around. It will be a hump trust me. I have found with the legs to NEVER have the camera on them before you get it set up. The legs can spread out almost all the way to the ground, which is a good thing when you Want That to happen, but it can tip over too damn easy for my liking!! They are good legs and a accident waiting to happen all at the same time. :grimace:

But the center column is sturdy as hell even almost fully extended. It really is a Photo tripod, not video legs. Just be damn careful. and don't get in a hurry with them. No way you can kill the damn tripod, will it to your great, great grandchildren they are built that good. I mean it is a Hell of a tripod for nearly no money.

I can do even better than that, I will post test videos:

    Natural: http://files.hdrcolorgrading.com/2017-04-GH5-Tests/natural.MP4

    V-Log: http://files.hdrcolorgrading.com/2017-04-GH5-Tests/vlog.MP4

These are UHD 60fps, straight from the camera and untouched. The videos were taken seconds from one another. The only difference between them is the picture profile.

The natural profile has issues as well, but the V-Log problems are quite severe. I hope it's something really simple that I am missing.

I don't know the value of the ISO, I will try more detailed experiments tomorrow.

Yeah not good. I thought the Natural looked pretty good, but v-log, ehh, not so good.

  3. Both are closer than one would think, but there are so many good LuTs out there now, just about anything is possible. But I would think Raw on the Ursa would be, well, better.

But to the average person I doubt they would see it, or even care about it.  :frown:

  4. I know this is Way off the topic :grimace:  The new "Based on the award-winning Pascal architecture, the GeForce GTX 1080 Ti features massive gaming horsepower with 3584 NVIDIA® CUDA® cores and 12 billion transistors"

Jesus C. 3584 NVIDIA® CUDA® cores and 12 billion transistors. 12 Billion, yeah 12 Billion, and 3584 Cores on a video card! What the hell LoL. Man what a time we live in!  :astonished:

  5. Well since I am nearly 70, a week away, but hell who is counting! :grimace:,  I grew up with film, made my living a lot with film , even Video, Sony Beta SP video, was sort of like film using tape, I have it, that look embedded in my soul, my mind. I grew up when there was Only B&W TV's, I Love B&W movies from the 40's 50's. So I am biased as hell, no doubt.

I am looking for that look, sure am not going to go back to film, but I like that smooth, buttery look a film can have shot on film. Nothing like it.

But I am a dying breed. film today is reserved few a few highly respected producers, directors, and they too are a dying breed. Digital is here to stay, but like Pink Floyd, Stones, ACDC, Led Zeppelin, it ain't dead yet.  :glasses: And I still like to pursue it if I can.

But there is a whole new generation that can take advantage of all the wonderful Digital stuff, for really some cheap prices, and make it how They want to see it look. And that is a good thing for them to pursue also. Because by the time they get my age, it will be a , "damn this new stuff sucks ass compared to what I grew up on" thing.

Nostalgia is a wonderful thing. Even if it was right or wrong, it brings a smile to your face. A happy time indeed. It is a reward for a long life's journey.

Color science...such a tired overused phrase...as tiresome as filmic actually....My preference in a camera is actually color fidelity...I don't want the camera to decide the image for me...I want the camera to reproduce the colors my eyes see...I'll change it to the look I want for whatever the occasion/reason...which is why I prefer Panasonic cameras...to my eye it produces what I see...not some fairytale version of what's there...and of course the other part that's most important to me....they work when you need them to...excuses about where cameras are today and what they can't do is just tiring and ridiculous....get a fucking hobby if any one of these cameras can't work for you!...

Wow, I really don't know a lot about the GH5 color science. I have not paid much attention to it as I am not buying it, no matter. But from what I Have seen I think it looks like a pretty damn big improvement In Color Science, am I right??

But wow in love with Panasonic Color Science, gulp, yikes Fritz you are seeing something Way different than I see, but I am old and can't see too well anymore.   IF you would had said BMPCC, Canon C300, eh Canon 5D mkIII Raw ML, heck even my Panny AF100A, well, well I am running out.

I guess in the see what you see, hmm I guess you are right, but I don't like the see what you see look, and I don't think too many on here do, well maybe not, damn maybe they do, Hell.

I Don't like a digital look, I Like a filmic look, It has its uses in advertising, I guess even Weddings, Maybe, but,  but I sure don't try to get razor sharp, perfect contrasty from hell output from my cameras. Quite the opposite. :glasses:

But that is why we are NOT all created equal, and I sure as hell respect your opinion, I really do. They are popular as hell for a reason. I guess some of us are in the minority here for sure.  Like, maybe me :astonished:

Heck I even put a shiity 50 dollar B4 lens I have, on my Panny G7, to cut down the digital look on it in 4k. That is what I sort of think about Panasonic  "Color Science"! Now taking still photos, I want it so sharp it cuts my eyeballs when I look at it!!!

I predict that an A7SIII will be announced next month with GH5 like specs (probably not 10bit though?) with monstruous AF, dual SD, and lots of improvements.

rumors have been going in this way for a long time.

    Worth waiting IMO.

GH5 with speed booster and shit AF is a no go for me in 2017. Even though I am buying it for my patagonia trip (the best camera is the one available now.....) I might get rid of it asap.

That sort of is the main problem with the GH5, and GH4, etc, if you use a Speedbooster, which most people use with a EF mount, autofocus with them on average sucks ass.

Sure they work a treat like they say with native glass, but when you try to up the sensor size by using a Metabones you loose any dependable AF.  That is the big advantage the Sony A7r mkII has. And I guess even the A6500 has. They sort of do work with EF glass. Hell the A7r mkII maybe damn near as good as a Canon on AF. The old "No Perfect Camera" stuff again.

Rinad Amir, you are just a troll, most probably a teen troll who has still not learn how to be polite with others, but let`s focus in the positive, you are still young and probably you will learn during your life time what your parents couldn`t teach you in your early years, really, stop been so pedantic and learn how to behabe from more experience members in this forum…..

    Well spoken. Nuff said.

  9. Yeah other than no OIS, I think it has a better output, color wise, than my iPhone 6s Plus. Trouble with iPhone I was pretty much forced to by a model with the 128gb memory to use with 4k. Paid damn near 1000 bucks for it!

On the Note 4 it has a micro SD card you can use.  Damn Apple and their whore making money schemes. It really gets old. But I use it mostly for the Facetime feature which IS a great thing to have when you have children, grandchildren all around the country like I do.

    Not any more it isn't.

The (original) A7s will still do me but the Red Helium 8k s35 is now the low light king.

    https://www.dxomark.com/Cameras/Compare/Side-by-side/Red-Helium-8K-S35-versus-Sony-A7S-II-versus-Sony-A7S___1110_1047_949

I just watched an episode of  Planet Earth ii last night and it is interesting that the BBC used an A7s for that series in part as well as a modified Red camera.       My guess is they will still use a small low light camera for forthcoming shows but for other low light, why wouldn't you use the latest greatest (budget permitting).

Wow that Red is almost off the chart on all their stats! They will have to make a bigger, longer chart LoL. Jesus crazy good, but for like nearly 50k or more I guess it ought too. That ought to help Red with getting back into favor with the big boy movie shooters. Most have just gone to the Arri Alexa XL.

Red was just giving DoP's new Reds to shoot with, so hell yes you will use them. But now I think they are even paying for the Arri's to use because they are hands down the most Filmic looking. Arri has their stuff together on that.

But Wow 8k, they will be able to do a lot of VFX on the new Red. Arri has some catching up to do I guess now.. They are just barely producing 4k.

Hard to believe that a tiny company like Red can come out with so much crazy ass good stuff. I had a original Red One on order years ago, deposit and all,  they were like 5 grand if you made early down payment, and I just gave up on it. They shit around for nearly 2 years before they did have one shipping. The project I had set up for it faded into the sunset. My daughter and I have it all planed script and all. She was in California and had access to all we needed. She has a degree in creative writing. She still lives there. But that was a long time ago. You just have to move along. She still has a lot of my old Sony ENG cameras, tripods, recorders from what I had back in the day. I used to own a ton of stuff years ago.
