  1. Newton seemed to use just about every camera under the sun. From what I remember reading, one of the consistent factors as far as the tech stuff was he mostly used Tri X/5063 and the way he processed it, going for a "thick" negative (ETTR in today's terms) then printing down.

He was just getting into digital when he died. It would've been interesting to see.

Anyone used medium format lenses for video yet? I'm putting together a zeiss set and it's hard to find 80-100mm primes. But you can buy apentacon six with an 80mm 2.8 kit lens and it can be adapted to pretty much anything it seems.

Thought of doing it with  RZ67 lenses but the adaptor is pretty awkward and expensive since it has to emulate the bellows type focusing. They are a really cheap way to get some absolutely classic glass though. Sold my 180mm for under 100. ?

This site has a lot of tests and hardware recommendations for Resolve and Premiere Pro.

I used to have an i7 4790k and 960 graphics card PC as well as an A7riii but I use Premiere Pro so what I say may not apply to Resolve.

I first upgraded to a 1080 GPU but didnt find it made much difference - in fact I cant really seem to get my 1080 to run much higher than 50% load.

I then upgraded my processor to an 8 core 7820x and this added a lot of performance.

This matches my experience, too. I still don't think most software is written that well to take advantage of the video card. Pure CPU horsepower seems to help the most.

Everyone wanted the kodak CCD that did glorious global shutter colour but no one wanted to PAY for it. Hence they went out of business.

Do you know if BM ever considered a camera with that DB sensor at all? That would've been something...

Well that was a rabbit hole...

I went out and took a few frames (of flowers obviously as I don't have a cat) and importing them crashed Resolve.

I thought it was because I had an older version so I downloaded and installed the latest one.

    Still crashes it.

So that would be a no !

Lightroom, Afinity Photo, Aperture  etc opened it without issue.

How about bringing into LR, exporting as a DNG, then opening the LR DNG in Resolve?

I try not to subscribe to political movements or social media prescribed causes created by political operatives to use the masses’ need to be heard on their 15 minute soapbox.

Interesting you word it like this. I've often thought it's almost like they don't really care about the viewpoint as much as... just having a viewpoint to espouse. ?

  7. Does nothing for me either. A cynic might say it's just another way for cute but not quite model worthy girls to get attention online from nerds. ? Some of the videos are interesting from the perspective that society is at such a low now that they're basically packaging and 'selling' regular human interactions. (Too lazy to find the link but an example of one I saw was a suit fitter.)

To me, shooting stills with manual focus is a pretty good way to practice, and you're only editing stills afterwards instead of video.

X2 on this. You can even practise cinematic portraits with some old, battered Elinchrom or Bowens strobes that you got for 100 on ebay that output a similar amount of power (for a still) as a really expensive movie light. Obviously compared directly the quality of light of a big 10-20K fresnel/HMI will be a bit different to a small flash head but you can learn to work with light and get a decent idea of what you can accomplish in a small kit.

As tools of the trade go a C200 isn't expensive compared to the car or van you will drive around in. Relatively it's cheap. I bought a C300 in May 2012 for £12K which is almost double the price of a C200 today.

Saw one (C300) go for 1500 on ebay the other week. ?

I decided to test some 48fps with the regular 14bit ML build. I processed it as Alexa LogC 24fps through the MLV App.

As suspected... since it’s less than HD... it’s soft, but for short close ups... it could work in a pinch.

Any updates on the slow motion capabilities with the experimental 10/12 bit modes?

Definitely looks really filmic, re: that compliment you mentioned. ?

    Which shutter angle/speed?

As understand it, and I may be wrong, f4 on m43 is f8 on full frame in terms of light gathering, therefore if you had an m43 and full frame camera, both set to f4 with the same shutter speed, the full frame cam would be brighter, no?

No. Easiest way to explain it: If this were the case, in the film days they would've needed a different hand held light meter for 35mm, 120, 4x5, etc. ? F4 is the same light gathering in 8x10 or super 16 which have radically different FOV/DOF with the same lens measurement.
