Davey got a reaction from mercer in IBIS with GX85 and G85, Is it the same? Problems when PANNING, Help appreciated!
Tried to explain this to somebody until I was blue in the face. He didn't listen and cannot understand why his pans are struggling. He blames the camera. Tried to explain how to walk with the camera, smoothing out jitters by walking as if you have crapped yourself - didn't listen, bobbing footage, blames the camera.
Actually, he blames me because he tried to copy my style and bought the same camera as me thinking that results would be the same even if he did the opposite to what I advised regarding movement.
I despair.

Also remember to use a strap, keep it taut with your elbows to your side and turn your waist not your arms. It's a good ab workout too.

Davey got a reaction from jonpais in The Canon C200 is here and its a bomb!
Yeah, but what's the autofocus like?

Davey reacted to BTM_Pix in Would You Perhaps Be Interested In A Different GX80/85 Colour Profile???
Yes, you just have to modify the html file so that when you hit 'Deploy' it takes you to B&H Website where you can then buy a GH5

Davey got a reaction from Ken Ross in Panasonic GH5 - all is revealed!
Isn't Master Pedestal the one thing that nobody really understood and roundly advised not to change when the GH4 came out?
What does it do?

I have some Nikkors and they are amazing. The 35mm 1.4 is an epic lens... I shot these with it the other night on the boardwalk in ML Raw...

Davey got a reaction from DBounce in Do not buy, use or even touch Lexar memory cards!
I prefer to buy batteries and memory cards from camera stores - Amazon is awash with inferior copies of small 'everyday' peripheral items.

Davey got a reaction from Kisaha in Do not buy, use or even touch Lexar memory cards!
Shot thousands of hours on Sandisk cards and the eldest ones (four years) are as good as new.

Davey got a reaction from jonpais in A "frugal" films thread perhaps?
True. I did one in my spare time with a Panasonic FZ200, £15 monopod, Hague MMC and a Zoom H1. I won't link to it because it has a tendency to trigger the politically correct. I travelled around the country going on demonstrations and compiling interviews and only carried a small flight bag at all times, often having one hand free to ward off missiles being thrown by opposition groups. As above, my only costs were travel related, but even that was discounted because I got to travel with the group on their coaches - so going to places like Essex from Birmingham was costing me £15 instead of £150.
Good thread suggestion, by the way - I am exhausted with gear coveting

Davey reacted to Axel in MACBOOK OR IMAC - WHO WINS?
Both will have no problem editing HD video with optimized media, no matter the source codec. For UHD, I would go for a 5k iMac. Why? You might want to monitor the video full size once in a while, without having to shift cmd f. If you connect an external 4k monitor, the GPU will have to struggle to feed both devices. With 5k, you can customize the workspaces for Organize (100% video, space left for two to three columns of browser thumbnails and a slim inspector, no timeline), Standard (=Editing, all windows, with scaled-down viewer) and Color & Effects (100% video, no browser, three small up/down-scrollable "tracks" of the timeline, slim inspector and a "two-up" of scopes).

Depends what you are editing. Both of those are going to choke and both will cut through footage like butter depending on what you are doing.

Davey reacted to Axel in YT standards...
Low quality standards for sure. Compare this to music videos you deem perfect. Wouldn't you agree that the differences are gradual? Better music? Definitely. In the end, it's mostly a matter of more refined taste - whatever that is supposed to be - and successful in not being too unashamedly embarrassing. Obviously placing a plastic Coke bottle on the table is a NoGo (label ripped off? What happened to it?). Are better music videos actually better? Everybody is just posing, and once you see through this, you can't see too many differences.

Davey got a reaction from BTM_Pix in NEW Pilotfly one-handed gimbal that lets you see the rear screen !
The battery life on my Beholder DS1 is 9000 hours switched off. I am impressed that the batteries have yet to leak and finish the pile of crap off for good. Wasn't there a myriad of problems with the original Pilot that did not come to light until after the initial showboating videos?

Davey got a reaction from Orangenz in GH5 focus excellence
140mm (280eq) on my GX80 is miles ahead stability wise than the 200mm f4 on my A7sii - different planet altogether.

Agree about the stealthiness. Tested it on my hip today, pointing to the side and pretending to film something else in front of me with an even less intrusive looking camera. There are times during street protests when it kicks off and looking away from the action whilst filming it is the way to go.
28mm FF equivalent at f11 with that small sensor is a decent angle of view and a huge amount of depth of field. Practically everything was in focus when I got my test home - with tripod quality stability.
I bought the GX80 almost exclusively to be used with the 14-140ii for street scenarios and even at 140mm it looks like a non threatening toy. Bloody love this camera.

Using an external recorder and being a paid Panasonic Lumix Luminary is also key
Only kidding. As long as folk spend a good few days training up muscle memory, then finding the right combination of autofocus settings for the job in hand will be no different to taking the lens cap off an a6500 and hitting record.
Sort of.

Davey reacted to noone in Sony A9 - No SLOG 2/3????
If you ask Sony, they would likely say that the A9 isn't designed for you and the A7sii is the current camera they would want you to upgrade to.
I am not sure there will ever be an A9s or if there is it will sell in much smaller numbers and therefore be even more expensive.
There MIGHT be an A9R (probably will be even though maybe not until the dust settles from the A9).
I would think there will be an A7siii before there is an A9R though when that arrives, who knows.
