Most people don't seem to care, so it's ok I guess?I am also not impressed by the new Sony, but at least it will last longer than Canon, IBIS is really bad, didn't like skin tone but I need to see more footage, too early to make a conclusion, it is a strange year, still can't find a camera to put my money, and the price, $4K, I was expecting less, it is really expensive for what you get, thanks God my purchase was delayed to next year, still time to be surprised for something else.

VENICE / FX9 are not the size they are for no reason whatsoever.
FX9 isn't so old that tech has rapidly leaped forward to the extent the insides can be miniaturized into a little a7 body.
if it doesn't have Venice/FX9 color science then I am screwed, I can not work with a camera with zombie skin tone, I hope you are wrong, if not, Komodo will be my last hope.

Even if the Tilta contraption worked perfectly, I couldn't justify buying these cameras out of principal. Canon shouldn't be rewarded for this.
add to that the new price for a working R5 now will be around $4.6K, and you will still see a lot of canon fanboys flowing the web with so much love for the new toy.

What about the Tilta cooling option?
Seems to be viable. Kind of embarrassing you have to buy a second party product to have your camera function but it is what it is.Not sure if that is really going to work, plastic is no a good conductor of heat, if the Tilta fan was on a metal surface I would agree, but we will have to wait, probably will increase the running time, but how long is the question.

The cooling kit looks like a good solution. News about R5 and R6 overheating just gets worse and worse. Idiotic move on Canon's part. I've never heard of such bad overheating problems in any camera.
Probably soon canon will use their secret weapon and give us a final solution, they already have a patent for a fan that sits over the viewfinder.

There is also some of us already have C200/C100/C300s and R5 seem to be good companion for a more ninja operation.
that's true, C100/C200/C300 are so huge, you can not go in the streets unnoticed, that's really an issue some times, with a tiny camera opens so many new options, specially when you are doing run and gun.

It’s also interesting that DPReview says the rolling shutter on the R6 seems to be really well controlled while cinema 5d says its “horrendous”...
I put my money on 5d "horrendous" word choice!!!

I like you and your blog and I think you're funny. But even so, I don't like all this personal negativity. I dont see the value in giving as good as you get. Seems better to me to rise above. One thing I like about newsshooter is how neutral the tone stays. I like where you're going with the comic direction and some of your posts have been really very funny. But I dont need the negativity in my life, it's why I quit twitter.
That being said - i agree that behiri is not giving us a lot of information I would like to know and I think he was very rude to you. But he has a point - if it didnt work for him to shoot documentary style on a typical shoot, it might not work for a typical shoot for me either. In any case, I dont want to be stressing about the camera. This is clearly not a documentary camera.
PS I hope I'm not coming off too critical or annoying. I love your blog and your insight - keep up the good work
It could still be used as a doc camera for some occasions with an external recorded, the point is it is too expensive for what you get, right now for a similar price of the R5 + ninja V you could get a C200, but loose the FF, so that's the dilema, R6 if it is usable using external recording is a better choice in my opinion, but there is so many contradicting information now, that we are still in the blind area, certainly in the next weeks we will get better information, but my hopes are really down at this moment.

why they can not answer how many hours were they filming?, how long they wait in each stop?, I am usually doing that and I can give at least an estimated time, and when you are having problems you are watching the clock every minute, anyway, we will have to wait for more quality reviews, I hope soon we will see one with the R6 and external recording which give me some light, because of right now is a no no camera.
-
Looks like external recording could save this camera, but there is no reason to choose the R5 if you can not even get 4KHQ 60p, hope soon we will have a review for the R6 with external, I am not going to spend $4K in a camera so limited like the R5, well, probably is going to cost a lot less next year, there is no way filmmakers are going to jump on it as it is right now.

I regard myself as a pro shooter as that’s how I earn a living.
I’m almost always leading a very small crew, and shoot solo without focus pullers.
I’m currently on the EVA1 and GH5. I always use an external monitor. The Canons interest me because of the very lightweight DPAF on a gimbal up to 4k120fps, the creative possibilities that brings and other obvious benefits such as colour and full frame stills.
Using external could offer that peace of mind, if in fact what people are chattering about is true. However, I do have an issue with the issue existing, when I don’t have the problem now.
We’ll see.
External recording could offer some peace of mind, until the micro hdmi breaks!!!, we are going to need an armes to prevent that port to get loose, Canon really screwed up there.

Sony A7SIII definitely has 4K120 but it doesn't seem to be available in RAW nor in 10bit 422
my main concern is the skin tone, is there any information if it is going to be closer to Venice?

Asked for heatsink and cooling fan integrated into smallrig cage 🤣 However seeing the overheating test Tony did on Youtube, it looks like the (plastic) shell really isolates the inside heat from the outside. Not sure any fan or heatsink at the outside will even do any difference.
looks like is not going to work, the only solution most probably will be an external recording, so get ready for the crappy micro-hdmi nightmare.

Not sure if we are allowed to post this here:
But judging by this it is an unmitigated disaster of a camera...although that is not the impression you get from dpreview where there was no overheating at 24p. But summer in japan can get hot. Originally, I thought this would be a good camera, but if it is this bad, then I don't know how you could justify purchasing it.
This camera is useless, there is no way you can work with a tool like that, the only hope now is an external recorded, I know will be a bulky solution but at least you will not lose important moments during the shooting. Really bad canon!

And audio, and NDs, and a rig, and a monitor. 🙂
The main issue is the RS, and for the final price you can get something more suitable for you needs

Please read it again. And don't assume you'll get 29, 28, 27 or even 26 mins.
You'll only get 1 minute. Hopefully that's all you need. 😂
looks bad man, looks bad, but hopefully we will get a third party solution, and some DIY in youtube that could work at the end.

incredible, the camera has not been released and there is already an accessory needed to make it work.
certainly is going to be a very expensive accessory, probably with a powered cooler, I guess the DIY solutions will be all over the internet in the next few weeks.

We are certainly in a trouble period, no doubt on that, but human society has always faced this kind of periods, to understand what's next we just have to watch our past history, our society like many others before will inevitably fall, and a new society will emerge, this time will a be digital society most probably, which in time, will also fall and will be replaced by other.

I think it must have something to do with fame. Youtube promises easy fame with minimal work/talent.
For a young kid it is more appealing and easier to be Peter than an obscure filmmaker making films for a select few people.
There are so few people who appreciate good art that things will never change.
so true, you go it!!!

This stuff just writes itself . . .
No sure what is the intention of this video, promotion? , say it didn't overheat in a building with air conditioning, do they think we are idiots?, of course is not going to overheat, not even an A6300 will do it. The real tests will be in two more weeks, just wait a little bit more and we will finally see if there is a DIY solution.

He/She is angry that the 'RUMOURS' said that BMD would be releasing a camera with AF and IBIS, and this cinema camera doesn't have those features.
Despite this, he/she keeps coming back to a thread about something he/she has zero interest to keep he/she's anger boiling.
Makes a lot of sense right?
To add to the confusion, many users of EOSHD and the owner of the site himself says they have every right to be angry because this is a forum for users of small DSLR like cameras and Solo shooters so AF and IBIS should be mandatory .......but then the forum owner continues to post news articles of cameras that don't appeal to his user base and the circe of anger just continues to go round and round....
I love it, it's hilarious!
By the way, if you have to say something to the owner of the forum, please tell him to his face, don't be a little girl hiding behind the door, and include @Andrew Reid in the sentence.

great!, let us know the result as soon as you can, I will get the same combo if overheating is manageable.
