    So, what is the final price?…..GH5+LOG+METABONES = 1,999+100+649 = US$2,748.00

really?, mmm!!!, not going to pay that for a m4/3 camera, G85 is a much better option to my eyes….

Cheaper focal reducers will do the job for 150USD ;)

Hi all, a quick question about region locking on Panasonic cameras...

In B&H website, both NTSC and PAL framerates are listed for GH4 and GH5 but if I recall correctly, GH4 is region locked and is not switchable, right?

for other newer models, the actual model numbers are different.

So do you guys think that GH5 will be the same as GH4? and is there a code serial or model number that clearly distinguish the two regions? I mean the region is probably mentioned on the box, but is there a way to know which region a camera is from the name/code/serial that websites list?

I got my GH4 from amazon.co.uk and it can switch without problems I don't think that pana will block this in GH5.

I really hope Panasonic can do a de-squeeze in camera... and remember to crop the edges from 2.66:1 to 2.39:1 with the 2x glass ;)

They say it's still under consideration. I really don't understand, they give us a camera with a dedicated anamorphic mode, comparing it to ARRI, yet one of the basic function is still under consideration, dafuq?!

    Thank you verymuch sir

and yes 5 warranty is bonus ?

They give you 5 years everywhere.

The bad thing is, that I ordered from CVP for 1700 GBP (2000euros), Camera center is offering the GH5 for 1900 euros, guess I have to cancel my preorder to save some dosh.

  5. Let's bring up a topic that nobody talked about, are the third party accessories like the Speedbooster, Lens Turbo, Lens Regain work without problem with the GH5? I know, the mount and the foundations did not change, but suspiciously there was nothing about this on the internet. Pre-users, please give us some mind!

I order a lot from them and they have very good customerservice but it seems that it takes longer to get new Panasonic camera's in stock, I ordered my g80 in October last year and they still have no stock of that camera. Not sure if they will have the same problems getting stock quickly from the GH5.

Damn. I just placed my order. I truly hope that they learned from that experience...

That's not what he said. He said that in order for Dual IS to work, you need to use Lumix lenses. IBIS will still work with everything else. It's like my GX80, it won't do Dual IS with an Olympus 12-100 but i'm sure getting really stable footage with my Olympus 25.

Too much wine for tonight, thanks! :D

  8. @Neumann Films God bless you, thanks for the footages, looks freaking awesome.

Can you check the VFR bitrates for us please? Also, is there an anamorphic liveview/stretch on the LCD?

So how should we upgrade our PCs? I have i7 4core, 16gb ram, 3GB graph card and my computer had hard time to play the footages even on 1/8th of the original quality.

Kind wish their audio would allow 4 channels... stereo through the 3.5mm jack + 2x XLR inputs over the hotshoe.

Would be handy indeed for sit down interviews with multiple people, and other scenarios.

Yep, that would give sense. A TASCAM DR40 mounted to my camera already gives me that, so why should I/we "upgrade"?

    So, 400mbit/s will be .h264

No clue, it isn't an option in our menus.  Wonder if it would just be AVCHD and it's updated?  Not listed as anything different in menu.  MP4 is the wrapper for all 10bit.

I'm just guessing, so they kept the .h264 for 10bit, right?

For more advanced users, multiple picture styles are available to provide a more gradable image, such as CINELIKE V and CINELIKE D, as well as an in-camera LUT to make monitoring easier. Also, users will have access to overcranking and undercranking settings which provide speeds up to 2.5x slower in 4K (60 fps) and 7.5x slower in Full HD (180 fps). Also, a 4K Anamorphic mode is available, which will let you record in a proper 4:3 ratio for adjustment in post-production.

So we now have the option of LUT previews, for Cinelike D? :D LOL

  12. I think that they are trying to make GH4R somehow attractive. 100bucks will not kill me, neither you. Remember how much charged SONY in the past for an upgrade like this?

Also, having a professional 10bit 4:2:2 image in a consumer PP like Cinelike D, and not having LOG, does not really give me too much sense. Anyway, previous commenters are right that this business concept is disturbing and I hope that'll cause a riot on CES :D

  13. Reviewed.com published an article 12h ago, they took it down, but it's accessable from the cash. So did they just wrote an article from the info that everyone knows or not?

    Some noticeable stuff:

A lot of the new video abilities stem from a faster (1.7x, according to Panasonic) sensor readout which should reduce rolling shutter substantially. The faster sensor also lets the GH5 get away with shooting 4K without a sensor crop, so Micro Four Thirds lenses retain their effective focal length no matter if you're rolling 1080p or 4K.

Even more advanced video features include an in-camera waveform monitor and vector scope, which was a big surprise. While it's not uncommon for pros to use this feature in an external monitor setup, having it in-camera, assuming it's a decent implementation, means one less bit of equipment to lug to your shoot. Color profiles on offer include both a CinelikeD and CinelikeV. Like the GH4, GH5 also has an anamorphic mode with a wide variety of shooting resolutions, bit rates, and frame rates to choose from.

Apparently $2,000 isn't enough to get users the super-flat color profile for grading that the pros are gonna want. The GH5 might be able to record in global video formats, and it might have a great waveform monitor feature built-in, but Vlog L? Forget it...just like with the cheaper GH4, you're looking at least a $100 to unlock this capability. So, if you're dissatisfied with the Cinelike profiles that are included with the GH5, you better start busking on the street corner.

No mention of the codec :(
