  1. Don't take rumors as facts... My friend of an uncle said that you have a wart on your forehead is a rumor. You are a "human" that should know better than to believe in "stupid" rumors is a fact. Now all rumors are not stupid, and makes you want to believe.... But a rumor is a rumor, which means that it's made up. So do not take it as a fact.
  2. You could be right or you could be wrong. Most kids believe in Santa Claus, and every once in a while there is a Christmas miracle too... All I'm saying is... you could hope... but given past experience... it just doesn't seem likely.
  3. This is why I recommended the 40inch or larger 4K screen + macbook pro (earlier). Upgrading the iMac is hard, its not as hard as it is on a mac pro, but it eventually you will run out of options. Although, right now 64Gb, and 6 to 12 cores, and SSDs sounds more than adequate for the next 15 years or so.... but eventually.... you will have to upgrade from that. Its just easier to get rid of a macbook pro over an iMac or a mac pro... but you will always use that 40 incher.
  4. I would just like to add that even though the other companies are really feeding most of our cravings in terms of specs. Given the fact that we all have different tastes, we may buy it, try it and not like how it tastes... some spit it out and leave the restaurant (so to say and never come back), some stomach it, and there are others that like it. Rince and repeat.
  5. Speaking of which.... What the hell is this??? http://www.reduser.net/forum/showthread.php?144806-Fincher-Probst-Xenomorph-Mindhunter-Camera-Dept Looks like some Aliens (1979/1986) face fucked one of the weapons.
  6. Speaking of ML... have you been there lately? Nothing new is really happening (well... I'm exaggerating a little bit here), but... really... they aren't touching any of the newer models... Here is a quote from one of their hero members, "Dev team made it pretty clear that as long there are unmaintained or blindly maintained ML builds it would be unwise trying to support newer cams." Source: http://magiclantern.fm/forum/index.php?topic=14866.0 Kind of a bummer.
  7. No. No. No. Its mainly this, with some minor corrections: +1 I don't know when they started thinking this way. They added 1080p from 5D2 all the way to the rebel... They had 4K and the cinema line since 2012, since then... only the price of the 1DC just kept dropping, from what? $15000 to $7999? Now, instead of introducing a new DSLR altogether... lets add few features here, take away a few features there, call it a 1DX2 and price it at $5999, perfect! Now the 4K crowd can't complain. Might as well price the 1DC there and call it a day. EDITTED to add: do they even have a R&D or research analysis department? But lets see... who knows right???? NICE! Soon I will be right there too. Only different cams.
  8. They should add Mad Max: Fury Road to that list. Anyway, are you any good at birding and wildlife? How about general photography? In my opinion, a lot of the philosophies of photography are easily transferable to video. To answer your question, it's a good camera for film/video... But what you film, how you film and edit all comes to play in the overall scheme of things. The low down, it suffices for what most people would consider as good video aka 1080p. It gives you decent AF in video. It has some slow motion 1080/60p... You can get that through HDMI output too. I don't know what else to say. Any specific questions?
  9. Thats one epically strong table. And, where did that get an axe?
  10. I find this to be hilarious. I don't want to say I told you so... but so many of us... dazzled by the early days of affordable high quality DSLR video, bought into the Canon system. Many have moved on... I mean most have moved to Sony... others to Blackmagic... etc. But every once in a while, we always look back, right? Like our first love... In my strong opinion, just keep your Canon glass and adapt it to other systems... like so many other legacy glass thats out there. At this point, Canon doesn't deserve to be looked back on anymore... they will constantly disappoint in terms of the DSLR video department. Not worth it anymore. Even if you still think there is hope for the 5D mark 4, lets say... they are going to put DCI 4K in it... this is 2016. Sony and Panasonic will put out 6K and 8K in their next cams within the next 2 years, at which point you are complaining that Canon haven't caught up to this company or that company - and the cycle begins all over again. Another 8 to 10 years goes by and they finally introduce 8K in their DSLRs, and everyone is already talking and doing 16K. Fruitless to argue... I think Canon is giving up too... I mean they are investing in other companies like that security cam business and Toshiba's medical imaging stuff... Canon is a profitable company, I'm not going to argue there... but we won't be profiting from them.
  11. Any thought of buying something like a Apple cinema display? Or other brand and working off a macbook? Gives you portability, and when you are home, hook the 40 inch TV to your computer and dual screen it.
  12. I don't know, may be on-chip ADC may be new tech. for Canon. May be 20.2MP in full frame in DPAF is new from Canon. But really, how is it dramatically different from combining 1DC and 70D? The 1DX II is amazing, no doubt... but they had the 1DC since 2012 & 70D since 2013. In fact, even the 20.2MP FF was in the 6D since what year now? Adding DPAF to that can't be mind blistering hard, can it? I don't know... Add 4K @ 60p & 1080/120p, but subtract C-Log. The only thing I will admit is that even if it is 10 year old tech. Its tried, tested and true... it will work and that's what matters.
  13. You see, I have both Sony and Canon stuff at home (TVs, DVD/Blu Ray Players, Cameras, printers, etc.).. So I'm a fan of both... For what they are... Sony cameras are technically superior, but at the same time, artistically demented. But they are still pushing the boundaries... How long before they fill in that gap too? Gap meaning the demented part. Whereas Canon, they keep pushing the same tech. for the next 10 years... Yes... You can support one company over another... But I just want the most for the least. Consumers should be the winner in this... I don't care if it's only the first quarter, if Canon made a profit or not... Fact is... If you are the consumer... You are emptying your pocket to fill their pocket... Why not get the best for the least? And because Canon is peddling the same tech for 10 years.... I wouldn't be surprised if one day they start asking, "What are we doing wrong?"
  14. At what resolution can it do 120fps? Never mind found it buried in the text of the BMD site. Its 1080p.
  15. Out of curiosity, how long have you been with Canon? I was okay with Canon leaving out 4K in the 70D, I was iffy about Canon leaving out 4K in the 7D mark 2, and now I'm pissed that Canon left it out of the 80D. I understand that doing DCI 4K @ 60fps in the 1DX mark 2... and it was all in the right direction... But the 80D without 4K was in the wrong direction, in my opinion... especially if they were competing with Nikon and its releases of the D5 & D500. At this point, I highly doubt that the 5D mark 4 will get it. And, I wouldn't be surprised if it didn't.... you shouldn't either.
  16. Sounds interesting, but how do you press record or the shutter button?

    Movie music?

Come on man... its easy... Start by entering "free instrumental music" in a google search. Look for "library of free music"; "royalty free scores" and various variations of that... Do you have a favorite movie? show? Okay, let me give you an example... I'm sure most of us love Nolan flicks... Dark Knight, Inception, etc. Well, if you imdb his movies, he reuses one composer... Hans Zimmer Go to youtube and type in Hans Zimmer and pow... Similarly, you can type in something like Godzilla soundtrack and get a load of stuff.

    Movie music?

Depends. Even if you bought it through itunes. First and foremost, you might want to look into royalty free music and scores first. Then, after that... if you have already set your mind to a specific song that isn't part of the royalty free music/score set, then you have to talk to the author and get permission. If you are not going to make money from your video, and just want to do it for fun and post it on youtube... edit and throw it in your video anyway. And, when its time to post it on the tube, put a disclaimer in the description saying that "you do not own the music, name original author and that you are not making money from the video." Worse case scenario, they will take the video off your channel... you won't get sued... end of story. I've done this a few times, and the worse thats happened to me is that they took it off for a couple of days, I didn't complain and after that they figured out that I wasn't making money off of it, and they put it back up.
  19. Question re: Tiffen DFx You see, I'm interested in a color correction app as well and this provides that.... I really want an all-in-one solution. How is this compared to Resolve? Anyone use Red Giant Looks? How does it compare to Looks? (Cause I've been using Looks).
  20. Yeah, don't worry about Canon. I know, I'm not... I was going to say a lot of shit about them. But not worth it.
  21. Calm down buddy. Its the internet... If you can't handle criticism, I suggest you keep quiet and never interact with anyone online. In fact, you were pretty critical with a smile, "I playfully and humoursly and accuratly shot down your Idea." I've fired people with a smile... does it make the blow easier for the person getting fired? If I sounded defensive, I'm sorry... I'm sorry if I didn't sound jovial, add emoticons or add words like "ha ha" But, in my defense (oh no, I used that word) I did have "lol" in my last post... not enough? I'm sorry if you thought that I was belittling you... you aren't dumb... Again, I wasn't clear enough... I said "VR in general, not specifically 360 degree ...is about emmersing yourself in the experience." But I also said, "Suppose it is a bedroom, and you have a multiple partner fantasy... Suppose you're a girl using VR porn... Use your imagination..." May be I should have left a big space to say its a contradicting statement and possibly include the following statement, [Then again, there is a place for 360VR porn such as] Ok fine, my fault.... but to be honest though.... (No emotion here, totally stoic) I don't agree, that "360 degree vr porn would be useless." My reason: From a business point of view... porn isn't just for heterosexual men anymore. Well, there is obviously a whole faction of gay porn. Not to mention... what... 60% of the population are women... and some of them are lonely and/or horny women that watch porn. If I was in the business of making porn, VR porn or 360 VR Porn... I would make something that will make the most money, hence make 1 video that is beneficial in terms satisfying everyone's fantasy. Now for light hearted humor: Here is something with a smile, I'm humorously and jovially saying "fuck off!" Wait for it.... Hahahahahahaha! Not enough? LOL and LMAO... over and out.

    Feedback on Work

Yeah, I usually start with my wife, and she can be really rough with the so called "constructive" criticism... move to sister and other family, then eventually friends. You can privatize your youtube videos and disable comments, if that will make a difference.

    Feedback on Work

Working for a client, I think that going through the idea building and script stage to be the hardest. I mean, at first they will smile and nod at the ideas you are passing to them, then you get an okay to write a script, but after some thought, and you have written the short... they hate it. I've been through a couple of them, where not only did I write up a script... some of those scripts are still stored away to be used later. During the filming and editing stage, normally the client is more than happy with how the vision is playing out. Usually I get anyone involved to participate in my filming and editing phase... so they are happy with the end result. Normally, from product development point of view... any project.... not just video, but software, home renovation, prototype creation, etc. If you get the client deeply involved from the start, they will love the end result no matter what.... because they have invested so much time and effort in it.... its their baby. The only problem with personal projects, and in the end, many projects end up being personal projects.... is that you take a lot longer to complete it, because you have no deadline... So, unlimited feedback, until you get annoyed??? lol.
  24. I guess, you missed this bit or I wasn't being clear enough when I said, "Suppose it is a bedroom, and you have a multiple partner fantasy... Suppose you're a girl using VR porn... Use your imagination..." If that wasn't clear enough... since we are knee deep in it already... I guess I don't need to be coy about it. lol... suppose, you are a girl and you are put in doggy style, now which way are you looking?

    One Lens?

If I got that Red 18-85, yes... it would be my workhorse... meaning it will be used 70% of the time. To be honest, even if I only had just the 50mm... I can work with that... yes, you are running around a lot, but you get creative with it.
