  1. So prolost flat it is till C-log.
  2. I know what you are talking about... the cinematic look... its like its already post-processed straight out of the camera, just the way you want it without need of anymore post-intervention. In my opinion, it has a lot to do with lighting. More MP or resolution has nothing to do with it, sensor size isn't it either (Well sorta). Its about lighting (ultimately, its always about lighting - the aperture, ISO, shutter speed all affects it, right?) The pictures with the dog that you posted in the OP, notice that its indoor vs. outdoor, but I know you're going to say that if you did them side by side, you will still prefer the a7sii over the D750. I'm sure, you can replicate it with the right lighting condition. I have experienced this cinematic look.... phenomena with my 7D. I was shooting as a second for a wedding, I took over a 1000 pictures... and I will tell you... some of them were bad (lighting was off, I think it was the flicker of the tube lights that F-ed it up), some just ordinary and others extraordinary (amazing like the way you describe it). And, I have to say that some of the pictures were redundant (same scene, same moment, same lens, aperture, ISO - just different lighting by the microsecond) so you can see them side by side (crap vs. ordinary vs. extraordinary) - I will post them up when I get home.
  3. I saw the Hobbit in 48fps in theatres, and I didn't like it at all. I rewatched it in theatres at 24p, and I knew why. I dont' mind the sharp sharp images, but if its getting into people's faces and you can see the make up and prosthetic stuff... all fake props like the axes looked plasticky... How can anyone like that????
  4. I never worked with Motion JPEG, and strictly speaking from using H.264 on FCP7 on a Mac Pro 2.1 (2006) upgraded to a 2009 hack... I have to say that I transcoded H.264 to Pro Res... Everytime... Easier to scrub through, etc. So transcoding will never be a big issue for me... Space may be problem...

    Sony a6300 4k

Doesn't the current iteration of the iphone have a 12MP Sony Exmor sensor inside it? There is none, they applied some secret sauce with the previous firmware update (remember the one for a7s/a7r ii) that totally removed that over heating issue, no?
  6. So asking rhetorical questions is trolling? What do you call someone that calls someone else a "Troll"? Or someone that says "Trolls launch personal attacks like you just did; and they make comments that makes no sense (read your own posts for example)" and "Your arguments might be more convincing with better grammar." (which was said to hmcindie). By the way, I did not know that we were being graded in English 101, for our posts on a Forum. If I insulted you, by asking you "How old are you dude?" I sincerely apologize. Also, please refrain from reading any of my 'Yo momma jokes.' Cause that will definitely hurt your feelings.
  7. How old are you dude? Old dogs can learn new tricks, you know? Who programmed the thought that throwing something on your shoulder makes for best video camera ergonomics??? Who programmed into you that you need something right against your eye to be able to see what you are recording??? Try closing one eye and walk around for a while, see how much your cheeks hurt after awhile.
  8. Blank check right??? Small Chorus of Men: "Medium Format... Medium Format... Medium Format!!!" Or even better... "Red Dragon... Red Dragon... Red Dragon!!!" })
  9. You know what though... Chances are, it won't work with MF, FD or other legacy lenses. So I guess focus peaking is a miss...
  10. See, as confident as you think you are in using focus peaking, that's how confident that I am that PDAF nails focus. The beauty of it is that its all touch screen. You want something in focus, you touch it and its in focus no matter the thickness of DOF. If PDAF isn't nailing focus, send it back in for repair.
  11. I have used the focus peaking feature on an external monitor. And, to be honest, on a run and gun situation.... I would use it over the old method of magnifying and checking focus, but the new PDAF.... It's just simple... I would definitely use it over peaking any day. If you haven't used it... Trust me... You are missing out. Borrow, Rent a 70D... Also, get yourself a 50/1.2. Play around with the touch screen for day... And it will definitely change your opinion of peaking versus PDAF.
  12. Long time reader, first time poster. I don't know about the site owner, Andrew Reid's opinion about the 1DX mark 2, but I think this is great. Sure, no C-Log, but if you've never used it..... Like I have.... You're not missing anything. On top of that.... If you're coming from Canon.... Waiting for the past 2 years for a proper 4K camera from Canon without costing over $6000.... I mean... Remember when the 1DC was announced at $12999??? Anyway, I'm one of those canon guys... And although I didn't care much for 4K, I sorely wanted a high frame rate camera and I wasn't blind to the fact that in the future, whether I like it or not.... 4K was part of it. I wanted high frame rate, cause I like slow-mo and I use twixtor. For the longest time I wanted a 1DC, especially since Andrew was raving about a used one... Better than most in terms of IQ and color science up till the end of 2015. But only difference between it and the 7D mark ii and the 1DC is 4K, not worth the more than 2 times the price. Up until now, I was going to invest in an a7s ii, especially after hearing that it does 120fps, but was afraid of the convoluted menu system, it's weird color and heating issues. Motion Jpeg and Cfast, both space intensive and costly, but I'm looking at something that will last over 5 to 10 years especially if I'm investing $6000 in it. So, Cfast will get cheaper over that time, and I'm going to upgrade computers, increasing drive space and so on to accommodate the 4K stuff too. Sure, there are other cameras... I'm a creature of habit and comfort.... I don't want to invest in something that requires more learning... Still learning how to color grade and add FX.
