This discussion is an example of how complicated a simple thing.
The speed booster increases the amount of image that is acquired by the sensor, consequently the sensor receive more light, increasing the brightness of the image of about a stop.
Everything else is relative to the type of camera you use, make a technical discourse is useless, for each shot you have to set the elements in order to get the best. A light increase is positive and always helps, rather a worsening of light is always negative.
In practice, if with your samsung nx you use a lens that has a maximum f1.4 aperture, you can use it at f2.0, getting the same light you had without the speed booster, but with better picture quality (in addition to other known benefits).
Please if you want to continue this debate (already thoroughly discussed in the Internet), open another topic, please.

@sandro I created a small tool that shows a button with black background and white text at given position and size that enables one to have on screen "button" for REC or SHUTTER or whatever.
You could use it as it is as a "black screen" (just set the text to " " and position to 0 0 and size to 720 480) and to start the time lapse. I do it often to preserve the battery (AMOLED uses almost nothing for black screen). To remove it from screen just press and hold it for 5+ seconds. I also made a separate tool for time lapse that can have black screen as well as black screen with small red frame counter (useful). It can also make short videos instead of photos (let's say 10s video every 2 minutes, etc).

    Thanks Ikslim,
you're right, in your experience, but technically the "SpeedBooster" is a focal reducer.
I have always worked with full aperture lens, my tests are done all at f1.4 and maximum 2.8. it does not add distortion or loss of detail to the edges.
(From f4 forward, any bottle bottom works!).
I am a detail maniac and that's what the NX1 does best.
I have no intention of filters or iris in the adapter NXL, this is a stupid thing to do, also no one has figured large working miracles with Canon EF mount.
There is no space between the sensor and lenses, is all filled to the tenth of a millimeter from glasses!
My hope is that this adapter, can turn on a headlamp on Samsung NX camera system and resume production, so if sales go well, I'll invest my time and my money to create a smart adapter NX / EF.
    Best

PS: I'm against to have ANY variable ND filter inside because:
    1. We need a WideOpen aperture in a LowLight conditions first.
    2. All variable ND filters (and also Non variable grey filters)  i purchased (some were very expensive) ALL WEAKEN the final image. At least you are about to loose Great Colours and WB from NX1. This lesson i've learned after spent a lot of money on usless glass of this kind.

Come on people, give the guy a brake! Let him finish his personal project, and then we can propose improvements or be critical in ergonomics and IQ.
In any way, Luca invests his personal time and money, and it is truly admirable what he has achieved so far (something that even metabones didn't touch). I believe that AFTER the product is finished there are a lot of experimenting and testing to check the real possibilities and improvements of the adapter. I hope someone will take it from there and add electronics, even if it takes a while arduino board on a box somewhere!

Looking forward to buy this baby so much, belive me I wanted this damn thing since I ever looked at the NX1 I almost did not even buy it because Metabones did not have any adapters for it but the specs pushed me.
I honestly never seen a camera system receive so much community support as the NX1 imao.
Those greedy peckers at Samsung ought to see how much people love their cameras and stop making their damn Galaxy S-infinitiv and make more Smart cameras, Samsung should have made an adapter themselves, I do not understand the reasoning not to, if they did more people would have bought the damn thing.
Seems counter-productive to me to relay on third party manufacturers to do it for you

    Thanks everyone for support.
I would like to clarify that I have not started working on NXL adapter to make money. I decided to invest my time and my money for the love of NX1 camera.
I am a ex user of the Canon 5D mkII, 5D mkIII, Black Magic C 4K, Sony a7s (waste camera, always crash with metabones smart adapter).
The only thing I missed in this camera was the FF look that could not give me the aps-c sensor.
I recommend this adapter videomakers, photographers who like to shoot in manual control, and have a large park full frame lenses and photographers who use the camera for artistic photos of portraits or landscapes.
Responding to Pavel, the camera with NXL adapter, shoots at ISO 800 as ISO 1600 without NXL adapter, so even for the night is very indicated. Do not recommend to buy this adapter to those sports photographer because she would not have any benefit.
Surely you will be better than me to find strengths and weaknesses of this adapter, and only you will know to use it according to your needs.
It certainly is not perfect and certainly in the future, with your suggestions, I can improve it.
Now I'm ready, I'm happy to announce that, I am preparing the website for a Kickstarter, where you can order the NXL adapter.
P.S. Meanwhile I enjoy the Olympics on TV tonight!

It is quite a hefty price, but if I can use my vintage Soviet lenses on my NX1, yes baby, worth it for me.
I have a bunch but I cannot use them because of the crop factor, they are quite soft when you crop.
Originally bought for the Sony A7s which turned out to be utterly junk, only good thing about that camera was the sensitivity, no idea why anyone even likes it or gave it such a good review.
If the smart adapter ever sees light, we can finally use cheaper lenses for NX1, I always wanted a really wide zoom one with 2.8 aperture, but there are none for the Samsung NX1, I have to buy 3 Lenses! Just to get those winder angles than 16mm, ridicules! Even GH4 has a super wide zoom.
But thanks to Lucabutera, I can invest in more vintage lenses and even if my Samsung NX1 fails one day, I can just buy a much better camera if that hopefully exists in the foreseeable future and still use my lenses! Profit!
Old lenses are really shit with crop factor because they are not as sharp and you always loose that delicious wider range they have, Soviet lenses have really funny distortions which also gets lost when you have a crop.
But, thanks to Lucabutera, I can enjoy using them now, definitely picking this one up with my Norwegian OIL money.

I use variable ND filters and my impression is that even the ones nearing 100€/$ are not very good and create more problems than solve.
I wouldn't like to have one fit into the adapter, complicates things vastly, and raise the price significantly!

Cojocaru: It is very simple really, it is an EF adapter, then you can adapt to other mounts with cheap dumb adapters (or more expensive ones of course, I just do not see the point buying expensive ones).
One adapter to rule them all. You still need to buy the other mount adapter you need (e.g from ebay).
You then can have the FF look, but still you won't have any electronic control and/or aperture control, which in my opinion (and needs) is more important than the FF look, which If I needed I would have bought from the begining (A7ii is not that bad in that sense, ofcourse NX1 is much better, but the Sony can be found for cheap used, and have all the active metabines/speedboosters).

Kisaha reacted to M Carter in NX 500 as a cinema camera
Well, as a long-time NX1 shooter, I'll say it's pretty fantastic. You can get a really beautiful, cinematic image with it. It can really, really sing with old lenses - like 60's/70's glass, Canon FL or the various screw-mount stuff, aperture-ring Nikkors (I'd get adapters while they're still around). The native glass seems awfully "clinical" to me. The H265 is a real space-saver - even if you convert to ProRes to edit, you can shoot all day without a ton of cards or SSDs. If you use an external audio recorder and good mics, you can run the camera-out into the NX1 and if you're careful, you can get fine audio without having to synch in post (though I would 100% advise you still record externally too).
4K is absolutely the shit for reframing or post-stabilizing... but the jello at 4K is abysmal. At 1080, the jello is in the best-in-class range (but it ain't global-shutter class, it's still there). So - handheld or real action stuff, shoot 1080. I only shoot 4K if I know I'll reframe. AF can be useful, but you might test low-level (1/4) diffusion, pro mist or black pro mist, with NX glass. "Iron Man" was shot with 1/4 and 1/2 pro mist (black I think?), and we don't think of it as a "diffused" movie at all.
Where it fails is where the BMC stuff really kicks in - DR. Doing outdoor work or indoors where you want to hold a sky through windows, you'll need lighting - indoors a 575 HMI par is the bare, bare minimum and a 1200 would do much better. Outdoors, HMI or a very well-executed reflector and scrim setup. That's if it's bright and sunny and you want to hold sky color and detail. And overall, shooting flat with lighting, not camera profiles really helps. Some big, soft fill sources to bring up shadows so you can tamp them back down in post. I've played with the Andrew Reid conversion and luts, but you run the risk of big, chunky, moving noise if you go too far. Get close in-camera. But those issues are the same with most any 8-bit, non-raw camera. You really have to plan for highlights and deep shadows, and I'm a believer in printing out plenty of color reference (send images to a photo print place - have good prints) and attaching to your storyboards, and setting yourself up on set for a successful grade. It's no Alexa.

    Updates NXL NX / EF:
Hi, I worked on this adapter for a few consecutive days, the biggest difficulty was finding the right point of distance between the lens and sensor.
A tenth lower and slamming into the sensor, a tenth farther and slammed into the lens.
Find the right setting to infinity focus it seemed impossible, and some moments I was throwing in the towel with canon EF mount to return to Nikon.
All this for 0.05 of a millimeter (Canon EF mount is definitely the final flange focal distance limit).
Now fortunately, the system works perfectly and soon will publish the first tests with Nx1 camera.
    See you soon.

I disagree, dude. I've got a pretty thriving business that's equal parts stills and video and the NX1 and NX500 do everything I need and more stills-wise. Fantastic dynamic range, high mp for great detail, wonderful adaptability for vintage lenses... Honestly what more do you need? This new speedbooster will only make things better, I can't wait to see how different some of my lenses look wider and a stop faster.
