You where getting ripped of, a mount for Yashica is €100
But mine takes Nikon and need no more accessories.
Regarding hard drive space, I love how little space it eats. Compared to the BMCC its a vegitarian
But I get your points. Its as always all down to personal situation, needs, preference, etc.
    If we take the URSA.
Its first of all much more expensive. Probably twice or three times the cost after all the accessories.
A used URSA or URSA mini 4K body only is more than I payed for a fully rigged Red with media, EVF, Monitor, etc.
And if I rigg out an URSA I have a camera with very smilar specs. Both shoot Raw, bot have high fps Raw etc. Seize and weight.. yeah the URSA mini 4K might be a little lighter but its heavy enough for me not to exactly run around with it. And its lower DR etc.
But the the reason that made the final push is the Red codec. It is crazy nice to work with. Specially if you have Final Cut (which I very recently switched to).
You can use Resolve, Reds free grading software or simply import in Final Cut with access to Raw settings.
But what really sets it apart from the BMD Raw is that it flows. If I use 4.5K Raw (crazy) WITHOUT creating proxies or optimized media, its pretty much real time playback. On a base model Macbook.

Paddy, to me your kind of work (and what you say you need) screams Canon 5D (2 or 3). Superb stills - and for the experimental/art video RAW is an obvious choice and fine to use in controlled scenarios.

Would it be possible for you to do a side-by-side shoot with those two cameras? Including time to grade skin tones + full color grading. Also compare their autofocus functions.
While I'm certain it's possible to match the C100 II and FS5 (I can match the C300 II with the A7S II), I think you may find the C100 II takes less time and effort to make look good, especially in challenging light (multiple colors, non-continuous spectrum, etc.). Color and AF are why we went with the C300 II vs. the FS7 (kept FS700 for 240fps- even with 24Mbps internal codec the quality is good enough).

The word "hipster" means, something I dont understand and therefor dismiss to cover my ignorance.
So I dont really get the question.

I am not sure why you think that beards are more of a fashion or less original than being cleaned shaved.

I personally don't give a monkeys what anyone looks like.
If you want to have a swirly beard, wear a banana suit, grow some horns and have a tail (or any kind of fashion combination) then that's fine by me. Let people be who they want to be

    For these reasons:
    - To see the difference compared to XAVC-I.
    - When there hasn't been enough card space for XAVC-I.
On the Ebrahim vs Andrew debate:
    - Canon C cameras are awesome. They are popular for a reason. The focus peaking and usability is BY FAR the best I've used on any camera.
    - Sony have more bang for buck such as HFR/10bit.  Great to see them innovating.
    - Canon cameras are underwhelming but work amazingly well. Sony's are spec monsters but need a year to mature. Depends what's important to you?
    - The FS5 is not a cinema camera (yet).
    - No camera makers are crappy or garbage etc. Just different. It's great to have choice and see what works for your style.

Atomos always advertise their recorders as capturing a 10 bit file, even if the camera only outputs 8bit (e.g. 5D, A7S). You have to go to the camera manufacturer to find what the output bit depth is. I can't find anything saying its 10 bit out from Canon so I'll assume it isn't...

Nice work. The first few shots are gorgeous. That light, misty fog really set up an atmosphere. I also loved your jump cut rack focus. Jarringly effective. I'm gonna steal that.

Ummm... no macro-blocking, nope. That is the way shallow DOF looks on a S16 sensor. In comparison, a S35 sensor has a much larger area, while S16 of XC10 is closer to the "traditional" 2/3" PDW sensor. Very nice for TV news or mini-docs.

Agreed. Moire is so aggressive in RAW mode its even visible in grass and tree branches. It's a very ugly kind of artefacting too. Pro res HQ is such a huge jump from 8bit codecs anyway and Personally I enjoy grading from the Log more.
I love my BMPCC. This is the first thing I ever shot with it. Love at first grade:

Thanks, project was shot in ProRes Film Mode and colored from scratch in Resolve (No Luts used). From my experience with the camera RAW introduces more Aliasing and Moire, which is why I shoot ProRes unless I NEED the RAW workflow for color temperature or maximum dynamic range.

Truth is though ProRes imo is my preferred method of using the camera as I feel the compression eliminates Moire and Aliasing by a lot compared to Raw.

Dynamic Range, Richness and Color of this camera imo is amazing and no other camera in its class is even close.......

Leonardo Dalessandri's work is just a good example of craft.  I know it wouldn't matter what camera you put in my hand, he'd still be able to make a better travel video with a GH3 than I would with an Alexa.
So, I use that sort of stuff as my personal benchmark.  If I can increase my skill level to exceed the IQ of what he can do, then I'll consider getting a better piece of gear.  'Til then, I'll roll with simple consumer gear too for my own projects.  Hey, if it's good enough for him, right?
I've been lucky enough to travel around the world on assignment over the past decade.  I can watch that video and reflect that my own library has about 80% of the same type of footage.  Is it shot as well?  No.  Is it edited as well?  Oh, god no.
That's my perspective.  Gotta learn technique and craft; get solid there, I'm still lacking.  I ask myself, "You got a paint brush?"  "Yes.  Well, then paint."  Worry about the bristles only when your skill demands it.  I'm not gonna gripe about refinements that I can't even begin to take real advantage of.
...So hard to do when all I want is to acquire and play with a A7s!
More on point to Andrews charting of cameras, ergonomics, etc, I gotta say, the EM5II, after some getting used to, now really agrees with me for some reason.  I just like shooting with it, taking it out of the bag and getting footage.
Like many machines, some just jibe, others don't.  Don't know how to explain it.  It's like a car or a motorcycle...

As Ebrahim said the C100 MkII is a great camera too. Superior to the C300 really. It's significantly better in low light, offers 50p and the colour science is improved noticibly. Of course the C300 has a slightly stronger codec but paired with a Video Assist or Ninja Star the C100II is smaller, cheaper and outguns it. It's often sold with a free ninja Star too. Expensive for what it is on paper but it is a canon so that's a given really.

I made a mistake and bought the RX10 II because I was impressed by the "specs".
I had the camera for 2 months and hated it.
Only recently I played with the C300 again. Specs are "bad", but the image and usability is fantastic. Love the C300.

I'm a huge fan of the bmpcc.  It's the ONLY camera that fulfilled the needs of my FORBES70 prototype camera in terms of DR, low light performance, resolution, compatibility with adapted specialist lenses, solid codecs, etc.   since the bmpcc's release there has yet to be anything that comes close to its overall performance when paired with fast modern c-mount lenses.

The sheer number of so-called high end cinematographers interested in FORBES70 but who disregard it based on that fact that the internal camera is a BMPCC is amazing.  Also those who complain about anything the camera does visually are asking far too much.  £800 for the best picture available from any camera in the price bracket where re-mortgaging isn't required to make a purchase.

I hope the bmmcc does the same amazing job and better!
