I agree with what's already being said here, @DPC and @mercer, about not setting this camera up for heavy grading and that's why I use Standard 0, -5, -5, 0. I also underexpose a little as it seems to yield nicer skin tones in my tests.
I know it's flat lighting and maybe not the best example, but what do you think of those skin tones @DPC? Too contrasty or saturated? Would appreciate any feedback! It's the best I have achieved so far.
Isn't the lack of a log profile is the main reason why Luis du Mont's skin tones look that way?
    Original:

Corrected WB, lowered mids and raised the highlights:

@Raafi Rivero don't know if this is any useful for you but here's a video which could have an interview situation. Standard 0, -5, -5, 0.

Borrowing a friend's! Haven't done a ton with it yet, just testing for an upcoming narrative. Loving what I'm seeing so far!

Mostly using Natural, as that's what worked best on my GH3, but I may give Standard a whirl. I'm finding I can pull a lot back from the highlights and shadows in Resolve; holds up like a champ in the grade. Highlights roll off nicely, and dropping the mids a bit gives you a beautiful tone curve with very little effort.

However, even at ISO 1600, there's a fair bit of fine grain (not ugly, but present), and any details below 30 IRE or so get fairly muddy. Definitely more of a S16 look. I dig it, but not an aesthetic that works for everything. I'd peg DR in good light at around 11 stops, but I'd need to test in more controlled circumstances to say for sure.

Using the right glass matters a lot. My Lumix glass feels VERY sterile and the colors aren't to my liking, but my SLR Magics, Leica Rs, and Minoltas bring out the best in that sensor. Haven't tried my Canon FDs yet; might throw them on there with the Speed Booster tomorrow. Ditto my Olympuses, though they render too clinically on Panasonic bodies in my experience. (Yes, I have waaaaaaay too much glass.)

Usability is great. The screen is sharp, battery life impressive, menus intuitive, grip comfortable, and overall just a pleasure to handle. I only wish the card slot were on the side, but something has to give at this price point.

Hoping to get out and shoot more tomorrow afternoon!

Check out the thread below for some spec comparison between the GX85 and G85 which is basically the same camera with better ergonomics etc. There's a and first look from B&H on the G85 which is very informative.

Here's a video showing both noise and crop comparison between the GX85 and GH4. As you can see there is less crop in the GX85 and that's probably going to be the same or better on the G85. As for image quality I sold my GH4 when I got the GX85, but I will pick-up a GH5 as soon as it's released.

Well, the colors of your footage looks nice to my eyes!
Thanks for the kind words!! I feel like I'm getting better with every video, but some of my old footage is not that great at all. I try to learn from past mistakes and pick up tips here and there. The most important thing I have learned though is to WB, expose and light to have the best starting point (probably goes with out saying but if something is overlooked it makes it so much harder to correct in post). Basically getting to know how to set up your camera for best results.
I shot that video in the summer on my own actually using a Aputure VS-2 as a monitor with a long HDMI cable. I waited until the sun had past the windows and set WB to 6000 something. Then I underexposed by about a stop as especially skin tones look a lot better that way without a log profile on this camera . Standard 0, -5, -5, 0 and that's it.
I used Color Finale to adjust contrast, and adjusted WB with color wheels and curves. I spend some time using the built-in Apple color picker tool to check WB on the black kitchen counter. It's a little time consuming but it was definitely worth it. So actually a pretty simple setup and grade in the end
I tried for so long to get good looking natural colors and I finally feel that I actually know what I'm doing. Next up will be trying to learn how to make more creative look's for other stuff.
I get why you want the Canons though, the footage is really nice!

For me GoPro slaughtered DJI. I don't care about its speed or other specs, I care about the fact that for the same price I get a GoPro 5 that I will use on ground a lot, a handheld gimbal that is amazing, and a drone that is a perfect mix between size and stability. This thing is too small and shaky (see the verge video).
Anyone using a GoPro for action videos should get the Karma instead.

Not sure about the image quality and stabilization. Seems a step back from the X3 even I think..?
That said... we'll need to await further footage and reviews. But man, that thing is sexy like hell. Compact like nothing else! And unlike GoPro, this does have more safety features. The worst thing to happen is it hitting something and crashing down. This certainly wins as a quadcopter... not sure if it wins when it comes down to image quality. But I have a feeling there's bound to be a lot of comparison videos once these start to ship out! Crazy exciting times!
Although I'm still not sure this is worth my trouble... operating aerial video platforms like this remains a legal hassle in some if not most areas. Used to be a grey zone and an expensive endavour... but with it getting cheaper and cheaper and getting in the hands of people who are unresponsible with it... I'm not looking forward to be getting one so I can shoot some gorgeous footage of... pastures... just about the only place remaining you're allowed to shoot (if you're lucky... and with permission from the land owner).

Judging by your latest video posted here and for example videos from Jase and Javier Lopes (Abandon) it seems pretty close to me in terms of image, but I haven't tried the XC10 off course
Would love to see some side by side comparisons! Be sure to post them here.

No, it's not close at all. The XC10 wins in every category except for shallow depth of field. The XC10 is a professional camera. The 1080p in  it is almost as good as the 4K in the GX85. I actually like it more. But I do like lenses and there is just something really cool about using small c-mount and m4/3 lenses with 5-Axis ibis. My $20 Cosmicar 25mm and my $80 Sigma 19mm just work brilliantly with that camera.
I am definitely going all in with Canon. I just need to decide if it's worth keeping a $600 camera for specific projects that can benefit from the specific look and footprint the GX85 offers.

Thanks! Yeah, the color definitely seems to be improved. Waiting for the GH5 myself. I really miss the ergonomics of the GH4.
I used window lights with 2 x 110 cm round reflectors. I have big windows on the left and waited until the sun had passed, between 12:00 - 16:00. So basically just indirect window light with reflectors. One of the great things about the GX85 is that you can underexpose by a little and adjust contrast in post to achieve better colors and DR without getting any noise on low ISO. With the GH4 I easily got noise in the shadows in my dark kitchen, so it's really refreshing being able to shoot underexposed clean images and pull it up in post.
@Cinegain The Leica 15mm f/1.7 is really nice on the GX85

It was shot in standard 0, -5, -5, 0 with only natural light and reflectors. The edit was done in FCPX using Color Finale.

I think it's the same video quality. If I could choose now I would definitely get the new G85 because of the ergonomics, bigger evf, mic jac, articulating screen, better battery life, optional battery grip, Cine D/V, etc. Especially if you don't need/want the GH5. But if size is important the image seems to be the same. I believe frame rates and bit rates are identical as well, but not 100 % sure.
    Informative video about the G85:

@Cinegain I see what you are saying and I agree that Panasonic should have a camera that sits over the GH-line. Only problem with that is I think it have to be S35 sensor and they don't have any lenses for that, yet. They could off course do what JVC did though. It seems to me that Panasonic is doing a major overhaul with their cameras from the bottom the top. First it was better low light (G7), then the stabilization (GX85), then the (G80) with a better ergonomics (battery grip, mic jac, dual IS 2 etc) and finally the GH5 which is going to amazing no matter what they do with it. 4K 60p, IBIS, probably at least 120p 1080, 10 bit 4:2:2, V-Log etc. They have to compete with Oly as well now so I don't think there will be no holding back this time. It sounds like a camera I could have for years to come. Panny are really "fixing" all the things people have complained about.
Anyways, it could very well be that they are releasing a camera above the GH line if they see a market for it. That would be amazing but not for me at the moment. I think the GH-series is the perfect compromise as hybrid shooter and I really miss the ergonomics of the GH4 which I replaced with the GX85 waiting for the GH5.
Also the new Leica zooms look nice. Will probably trade in my 12-35mm and 35-100mm for the 8-18mm and 12-60mm. I really like the look of the Pana Leica's and my kit next year will probably be the GH5 with PL 15mm, 25mm, 42,5mm and the two zooms, and maybe the 12mm and 50-200mm somewhere down the line.

The BMD Micro CC was marketed with global shutter... in the end... they couldn't deliver on that promise and pulled it from the (seemingly finalized) specs (which made me order it). I was rather bummed when I found it was going to ship without the feature, which goes to show I'd rather have them release specs that they know they'll do, rather than making a prediction as a hard statement and then hopefully manage to pull it off somehow. Also... Craft Cinema Camera...
But yeah, I do get that they had to say something at Photokina. I was expecting them to! We all want to know: is it in the making? When should we expect it to hit the market and what can it roughly do?
I do think it's going to be a significant step-up in the way the m43 crowd shoots video! Like the hacked GH2 and GH4 were! In between the GH4R and (paid) firmware upgrade... and the G7 and GX80... I think we're going to be in for a treat. But you've got to be realistic. The GH5 is going to be the most productive and allround video tool in the DSLR and mirrorless market and have the best bang for buck. Yet sensorwise... it's not going to rival fullframe. Then again, that's only logical. Light gathering ability for each pixel is just not the greatest. But you know... isn't that the case with actual movie cameras either? If you look at Blackmagic and Kinefinity for example... you're expected to light your scenes and manage. Shooting ISO6400 is just not something you would/could go and do. That doesn't make fullframe options less interesting, especially for the run-n-gun type who shoots a night scene with just the camera on little to no budget... because then you can't deny the benefits of its flexibility. You can put it in any lighting scenario and it will cope with the conditions (to a certain degree). If that's the most important thing to you, look no further and get one of the Sony A7 series cameras (with their own issues; really comes down to the game of: pick your poison). I think it will be another one and a half year perhaps (2017?) before we see the new tech (organic photoconductive film (OPF CMOS) sensor with global shutter) hitting the market. That you may rightfully call a 'gamechanger'. But we're not there yet. It's a step up, as said, with V-LOG L and an anamorphic mode as firmware upgrades... with the GX80 sensor performance and stabilization however... we've seen that we can expect the GH5 to be a significant up from the GH4. And that is just how you need to see it. Still gives you struggle for wide focal length lenses. Isn't magically going to see in the dark with no noise or create crazy shallow depth of field by itself. But it is great value for the money and it certainly will be a treat to use stand alone as well as rigged up.
Secretly I was hoping for something between the GH-line and the Varicam, because getting a cinema tool step up from the GH4 and end up between 2999~9999 you'd be looking at the Sony FS5/FS7 (or something older 2nd hand), Blackmagic URSA Mini/Production Cinema Camera, Canon C100/300/500, Kinefinity Terra, (2nd hand RED package perhaps). In other words... a lot of people learn with the GH-line and when it's time to step up, their native lenses are probably useless and they have to look at different brands. If I were Panasonic, I would want people to stay in my eco system (and keep their money coming my way), hence create something Kinefinity/Blackmagic style that keeps in mind users coming from a GH4. Something like a true successor to the AG-AF100 but adhering to the modern standards and expections as well as being more compact and affordable. I mean, at around 3000 USD you buy a body only A7SII or A7RII. Can you imagine the things Panasonic would give you for that kind of money?! Something like JVC did (somewhat out of the blue) with the LS300... but done the Panasonic way with the GH heritage. Unfortunately the GH5 won't be that. I thought... ok, the G80 is now roughly the ultimate hybrid camera for stills and video. Maybe they make the GH5 really premium and focussed on video like that. But from what it seems, this is another ultimate hybrid camera... instead of what I was hoping, something in between the GH-line and Varicam (or as I've called it before 'the VC5' (a more serious cinelike approach to the stills hybrid GH5)). Doesn't make me less excited for the GH5 though. Might tick all the boxes anyways (with features that are now well implemented, ditching the YAGH-brick for a more viable solution and still being nice to use as-is, as well as being discrete on the streets and affordable to purchase).

Nice hack but no good for me - I need to swap quickly from one to the other.
5 axis - I know it works in video   Just making sure that in the menu you need "E-stabilsazation (video)" to ON. (Because without that it seemed to do nothing.
