New Panasonic G9 - multiaspect sensor?
PannySVHS replied to Marcio Kabke Pinheiro's topic in Cameras
@jonpais, Hey Jon, I have to repeat, what others have been stating. Your Fuji footage looks awesome, the few color parts are kicking all 8bit cams in the tush too. Very impressive, espially ooc. By the way, that style of shooting and editing was really super cool. I think your best so far, up with the best vignettes I have seen on the web. Not talking about the hyperstylish Watchtower of Turkey style, which i recognize as impressive achievement but do not enjoy that much really, but the rather classic approach. Really nice editing too, like you have been watching Tony Zhous essay film about editing as an imspiration right before editing:) Would love to see some Fuji Acros BW footage with an orange filter on btw. -
New Panasonic G9 - multiaspect sensor?
PannySVHS replied to Marcio Kabke Pinheiro's topic in Cameras
If it is the same old 24/28mpbs bitrate for HD in 24p to 60p, then for video the GH5 would stay the "no brainer" film camera for me. Even more, if HD is not at least up to par with G6 or G7 HD, as GX85 was two steps backwards in that regard. -
Hey Phil, Jons seems to have been read wrongly. He does not evaluate the quality of your shooting, which is fine looking indeed. He recognizes a lack of resolution in the material. Afterall it´s the longest and maybe most read thread in the web, which is all about lenses. So the quality of your shooting skills reamains untouched by Jons enthusiastic praise for the Noktons:) Hope this can put a smile back onto our faces. @mercer, man you are always pulling off awesome compositions and framing. The shot at 0.40 is especially beautiful. Cannot wait to see you shortfilm!

New Panasonic G9 - multiaspect sensor?
PannySVHS replied to Marcio Kabke Pinheiro's topic in Cameras
Ahh, still love my G6, what a fun camera! GM1 is a beauty. I think it´s the prettiest Panasonic camera. If it only had a little wheel on the back like GF1, G6, etc. have. If only my GF1 had that beautiful HD the GM1 has:) GF1 is another beautiful, classic looking camera. Weird, how details make a camera a standout design classic. -
New Panasonic G9 - multiaspect sensor?
PannySVHS replied to Marcio Kabke Pinheiro's topic in Cameras
I know, thats why I bought and film with three Panas (G6,7,GX85) and never compare them to Sony I am still exited doing footage with them with my manual focus lenses. What lenses do you shoot your stuff with? What camera do you shoot with most of the time? -
Hey Ricardo! Really nice camera work, exellent job on that! The music, it sounds a bit like the music you hear in this kind of videos a lot. So it sounded it bit cliché like in many webdoc videos:) But! We should start the Super 8bit Challenge thread and post it as a challenge with certain rules. Give it its own thread. For my taste that would be fiction shortfilms, to begin with. Also, @mercer and @mat33, these guys should be involved in setting up the challenge, cuz it was their idea and energy. Anyway, back to your video. Great camera work, superbly done. Some nerd talk: for natural profile, give contrast 0 a try:) Gives even greater tonality for post work, not worrying about pseudodetail in shadows and highlights of the REC709 curve. This is from my experience and from some others in this forum, having started with -5, then going to -2, then settling for 0 for contrast.

Nobody around here said that. So, "No!". The opposite is the case. You got something wrong here: People find the EVA a very satisfying camera. It is a really awesome camera from what the article says, which you have been cititing. But you´ve been giving a complete wrong summuary: Newsshotters article says it is a great camera with better mixed light capabilities than sub 10.000 USD cameras from Canon and Black Magic. Good low light but no low light beast, pleasure to use, great colors- even Varicam like . To use an addtional EVF like a Zacuto Gratical Eye would also be necessary with a camera like the C300 MKII, by the way, or with Black magic cameras. So I think your post is totally wrong, completley and totally wrong on interpreting the newsshooters article to its complete opposite of what is was actually stating. Renting a GH5, on the other hand you´re right about that, is a fantastic idea in its own right of course!:) "If you are in the market for a sub $10k digital cinema camera then the EVA1 is definitely a camera you should be seriously considering." These are Matthew Allards words about the EVA in the article you´ve been referring to http://www.newsshooter.com/2017/11/01/panasonic-au-eva1-hands-on-review/

So, @mercer @mat33, what´s up with the "Super 8bit Challenge"? Nobody taking it?
-
Maybe 10bit and pixel perfect HD for 999? That would kick tush.
-
yeah, Christopher Walken is a freakin genius. I am watching Key and Peele now. Perfect combination of skit writing and superb acting. Youtube is a time bandit:) G9, are u kidding? I haven´t heard about it. I love Panasonic rumors. Where did you get that from? Maybe @andy lee, could chim in?

oh wow, it´s the official SNL youtube channel. Maybe cuz your in the US and I am not. "Normally I would offer you champanga and kaviarrrrr":) Or maybe because of embedding the clip on a European forum. Maybe try this: https://www.youtube.com/user/SaturdayNightLive/search?query=continental

Blade Runner 2049 review (2D and 3D versions)
PannySVHS replied to Andrew - EOSHD's topic in Cameras
Two weeks or so passed by since viewing 2049. Watched the original Blade Runner right before that for the first time. The original still sticks with me, whereas 2049 I remember was just worth the ride, but the original left the impression on me: striking faces, colors, sights, mood, change in pace, wonder of whats happening next, getting sucked into the scenes. -
@maxotics, @kidzrevil, love your guys discussion and exchange of info. interesting read. love especially the last two shots of your footage, kidz. looking classy, classic, best 8bit sony color ever, beautiful indian summer mood. I still assume it to be challenging to shoot a shortfilm with it regarding matching shots.

I enlarged to 200% in width and heigth and put a contrast curve into play. IPB shows blocks, Intra hardly does. See image below. If not the 4k 400mbps Intra, the 200mbps Intra HD will be superior, that´s for sure.

The 420 does not make a big difference, since 422 for 6k would need to be downsampled from around 8k to show a benefit. Banding shows due to the specific implementation of h265. h265 shows stronger artefacts compared to the h264, which hardly shows any on the gh5. A7R/S cameras nor any other DSLM don´t have an 18MP video mode with a 200Mbit h265 codec. It´s a matter of processing power, which is required. H264 on the GH5 does not show these problems. Sony FS5 already struggles with internal 10bit HD, that is less than 2MPixel video! GH5 is a technical marvel, showing off whats possible with current mass produced technology.

@mercerand @Matt Kieley, have been considering it for my search:) But colors out of AX2000 represent some 3chip magic, which the Panny cam only might show with some grading tricks. The EX1 like camera body is really something too. For 1000USD one might think about a XC10, which you have also owned before, Glenn:) My bet would be, as a whole package with the three sensor appeal and an progressive image with Canon TI resolution, in a super nice body, the AX2000 would be it, if for something around 600 to 700 USD/EU. Btw, looking for a friend shooting cool stuff, but still on minDV tape in interlaced SD. Sometimes hurts me to see his cool footage interlacing like a beast:) He wants a "real" camera, as he puts it.

Hallo Dee Joslin, why not sell the GH5 and buy the AX700, since your preferences are clear. I think you are super duper wrong about 10bit not showing its advantage. The 8bit SLOG on Sony cams, even on FS700 without update, breaks apart easily. GH5 has awesome autofocus for photos. As a super exiting camera tool for the making of fiction films, autofocus is not even desired. This camera talks cinema. I shot this camera at 8bit 1080p REC709 and it gives astonishing results, C300 Mark I quality in a moderatley lit enviroment.

My view: 1.28for speedbooster x 0.75 for 1.33 anamorph equals factor of 0.96 for field of view of Fullframe Lens. Light transition will estimate to give 1.28 stop increase due to Speedbooster XL. Blur separation will be F1.4x0.96 equalling F1.344 for a F1.4 full frame lens.

@Charlie, Hey, thanks for the interesting post! The shot outside suggests to be a POV but it does not connect as a POV from the guy inside the building, as it does not seem he is actually looking outside of his window. Also there is nothing to see outside he might be seeking to see. You have other shots to connect to two? It seems to me, the outside shot is not necessary but might rather seem disrupt.

You guys are so cool and sometimes goofy! We love ya! I know what I´ll be watching in a minute. I see, GH5 review, you guys better be nice about it!:) Edit: 0.29, classic moment:)

Yeah, and the follow up, PDW200 with 50mbit 422 codec still costs big bucks. The AX2000 seems neat, though it has three 1MP sensors, while the EX1 sensors offer 2MP each. Bargain EX3, they are still too hot to be consired a bargain:) oh, these letus adapters are bulky and make the search less and less of the bargain kind as well:) There have been some 35mm adapters outthere with pretty compact dimensions but not so much info on them nor easy to purchase. Talking about a characteric image, I think the AX2000 might provide that. It´s a DVX100 on roids, plus cards for storage. @Liam, wow, super lolofi. What can I say. Looking like super nintendo graphics. Good and for sure interesting try, but not perfect

Hey guys, I like the image out of the EX1, which is comparable to a GH2 when it comes to color fidelity and low light performance. That in combination with the super fun pro camcorder body with a nice zoom lens with rings for aperture, focus and zoom. It has NDs, great stabilization, great controls, stupid menu:) Very versatile, fun to use, nice image. And CCD magic, guys! That EX1 mojo with its triple CCD magic:) Now, finding a EX1 below 1000EU is not possible. So I started looking for alternatives, which turned out to be either cheap with not convincing image or expensive with a nice image. Speaking of Sony PDW 200, the pimped EX1 here. So I figured, if there might be some HDV camcorder in the great body of an EX1.There are some like a Sony HVR Z5, which can even be used with an additional flash recorder instead of DV Tape. But image didnt convince me enough, too much aliasing going on. So I became to open this thread. Sony F3 is the ongoing darling of this forum and really tempting. Still not a cheap package with an external rekorder. AF100 has the image of a GH2 in a real camera body. For 500EU it would be tempting. So my question was, if it gives out a better image quality to a recorder, like intraframe 8bit 422. And if it was easy to rig up and use as a shoulder camera for longer shoots. FS700 with a Shogun is ridicilous in the sense that it is so small and light and that it puts out such a great image, but I don´t like the ergos and price is still prosumer region:) There was a thread about DVX100 mojo. I look for something like that with a much better image and without tapes, for an amateur auteur price:) I think the most compelling cameras I found in the 3chip category besides the legendary EX1 are Sony AX2000 and Panasonic AC90, the latter still around 1500, though. AX2000 for 500EU would be worth a look for me, it is still runnig for 800 plus. So there are no "cheap" 3CCD or 3CMOS EX1 style cameras. I wouldnt mind trying modern 1inch cams like the X70, but these guys are not cheap at all. That´s why I was looking for alternatives, that and some CCD magic. Though the AX2000 has 3 CMOS chips. But it writes to cards, has a nice and stabilized lens, has NDs and puts out an appealing image. Hey Liam, Sony AX2000 might have some appeal:) So far my first pick.

Hey guys, It´s kinda odd, having a Lumix G6 and loving it. Loving the UHD image from my GX85 but not doing shorts with it, having a G7 in the closet laying around. But being intrigued by the AF100. There are some avid AF100 lovers around here. So my question is, if recording external with an Atomos Ninja or better Samurai (SDI) is giving me a better image than the small 28mbit AVCHD files from internal recording? What are your experiences with making it a shoulder cam, plus external recording, pluc older ENG lenses? I have also been browsing the net lately for some old school cams. Would love a camcorder with image quality and stabilized lens and body like a Sony EX1. But these still range around 2000EU. Older HDV cam don´t have the image quality of clean progressively recorded frames. Also, it should record to cards. The Sony ZV5 does that to an external Flash recorder and looks to give a clean noninterlaced image in 1440x1080. Any suggestions for clean 720p or 1080p 3chip camcorders? AC90 from Panasonic looks nice but is also around 1200- 1500 EU.
