  1. https://phillipreeve.net/blog/old-new-zeiss-2-828-vs-sony-fe-228-vs-minolta-mc-228/ This is the closest I found when it comes to a comparison. It has the "old" Zeiss Distagon 28mm 2.8 vs the new Sony 28mm 2.0. The Zeiss 28 2.8 seems a great lens in its own right, with the 2.0 version having that little extra. Phillip also linked to a review of the "Hollywood" Zeiss, stating the nickname is deserved, beautiful Bokeh characteristics for close to distance transistions and interesting field curvage. This is an example of the wide open character in 24 MP of an A7: https://www.flickr.com/photos/jannik_peters/26124031323/sizes/o/
  2. On S35 28mm is a beautiful focal length in my opinion! Since owning a GX85 I discovered that even more, because careful framing with it is a joy due to its ibis. So are talking about 35mm length on 36x24 sensor like the A7S you used to shoot some of the best A7S colors with? That would be like a 20mm on S35- beautiful as well! That modern Zeiss 28mm ZE is supposed to be a heck of a lens, for around 1000 USD though! The Sony with fly by wire focussing is supposed to be about equally as good when it comes to optical quality. Sounds great. I think I will do that. Heard good things about the Minolta too. Not sure if the Vivitar, Komine, Kiron and so versions are that different from eachother or if it´s just lens folklore and part of lensporn. By the way, different sort of bargain: www.ebay.com/itm/ZEISS-Zeiss-Distagon-T-28mm-f-2-ZE-Lens-Canon-Fit-MINT-Condition-/263007244223?hash=item3d3c740fbf:g:PmAAAOSwH09ZKiBI Shoot, out of likes! Lol Time big time!
  3. @mercer, if it´s 1Gbps for 4K RAW, I´d be pleased with 250 Mbit for 2K RAW 12 bit for 24p and 10bit for 50/60p. Then I would sell all my stuff to get one. Good thing I don´t have to right now So future update for codec with higher framerate will be 10bit or still 8bit?
  4. Cannot argue that:) But maybe I can. 4k Raw is too much data, old c100 codec with 420 8bit is just C100 territory. So best to buy a C100 II and a 5DIII
  5. Hallo! I am a sucker for 28mm. My Canon FD 28mm 2.8 is a beautiful lens. Most of you guys have shot with one. Or anybody out there who has not tried it yet? Not possible! I´m shooting it on m43 with a Lens Turbo giving me beautiful S35 look. Wide open it is as good as the Rokinon/Samyang 24mm 1.4 at 2.8! But I am looking for that F2.0 magic. So I bought a Kiron 28mm F2.0 in brandnew condition. But boy, wide open it is not satisfying at all! I´ve read that the Vivitar 28mm F2.0 is a different beast but so was my Kiron supposed to be. The Vivitar 1.9 seems very soft as well. So any suggestions for the bargain shopper for a nice 28 mill 2.0? The Zeiss and Pentax lenses usually go way beyond the 400 USD mark. Maybe a Canon FD 28 2.0 will do. So what are your 28mm F2.0 super deals of the season? Something like: -Nikon 28mm 2.0 -Canon FD 28 2.0 -Minolta MD 28 2.0 -Vivitar 28 2.0 cheers
  6. In Europe it´s about 8900 EUR, VAT included. That woud be a C100ii plus a GH5 plus a JVC LS300. First one having that DPAF, GH5 with 10bit and LS300 4K 422 with newest firmware. C200 with 4k 24p RAW plus 8bit 420 150/35mbit as codec sounds odd. Canon sure knows how to play the marketing game.

Thanks for testin this! Would prefer the optical doubler for better resolution. The light loss should be similar to the digital crop in the way that the smaller sensor area has more noise at the same aperture and ISO, which has been reported well about the Lumix Extele mode.

Now, would be cool if GX85 and lens are powered both by a vmount, if electronic support for lens is needed. Kinda looking pretty cool! @BTM_Pix, does the lens function without electricity, since it seems to have mechanical focus, aperture and zoom, beside the servo function? Does it cover UHD or HD with the doubler?
  9. Cine D then? Common that would be a Grand Hit! Maybe that exploit could be used for other hacks such as high big rate in HD! Out of likes for today unfortunately! How did you do it? @mercer, is gonna have to buy two GX85 cameras now!!!
  10. Cine D for GX85? How did you do it? Out of likes for today. Maybe you should give it another thread title...AWESOME: CINE D HACK for GX85! Finally Cine D for your GX85
  11. Thank you, Glenn, but rather a 5 to 10minute piece:) I think they have a presence in front of the camera. But they are my collegues, not actors, so they might not want to appear in a longer version unfortunately. And I need a story worth of 5 to 10 minutes of watching, also spoken and audible:) dialogue. Well, for now, good night.
  12. Two thumbs up. Would love to have CineD on my GX80! For 60p you might wanna give this a try and check youtube for "unlock g70":) A lot of videos, but original one is from a russian user. Totally!
  13. This is A League comic material: "I can replicate it every time...". Cracking me up, pure genius! But seriously, you have nice subtle color palettes. If there is irritation or falseness in color it is most of the time due to our monitors. Thats why I got a monitor with 99.9% srgb space and a cheap one with maybe 80% to have a little more control over color variation. Thank you very much, Jon! Maybe a longer version would make sense. Got any ideas for the story? Condition would be, same setting and location and just two actors, to keep it simple and manageable to realize in a run and gun manner. So, up for ideas to reshoot this? Maybe indeed with a third actor? Maybe with my GX80? Though G6 has something, some nice roughness to it once it´s been graded.
  14. oh, oh, pricey rig. by the way, i also find this topic of a broader interest. what are the best handheld rigs for solo shooters on s35 or mft format cameras anyways, manageing manual focus and iris too, all as one man? So this zacuto looks like a great thing. But expensive for poor nonprofessionals:) And for real cameras:) Not putting down DSLMs, I´m myself a DSLM shooter:)
  15. Hey guys, it seems your findings are not optimistic enough when it comes to the benefits of 10 bit in the GH5 for only 20% more data you get 3 to 4 times amount of shades. This example has been shown before and is showing the obvious benefits of 10bit in the GH5 versus its 8bit.
  16. Glenn, you did the right thing with the 5DIII, because it must be a very satisfying experience. I would try that route as well but to me the storage part and overall expense is out of reach for now. I think you are great at cinematography. Your approach has inspired me to discipline my shots and to plan them out better! I am still impressed what you do with handcamera work and monopod work as well- always great framing and pace and rhythm of movement. About your grading: it reflects the natural light well, which you are shooting under mostly. So your colors are not as crazy as mine What I would also be interested to see, if you would approach stronger color and tonal contrasts as well besides some of your muted and pastellic palettes.
  17. Thank you, Glenn! What an awesome compliment! Would love to do bigger stuff. It has its advantages to shoot with a cam like G6. I still think it is the best rebel cam. Sorry Canon, you´re second:) To me it feels better in hand than my G7, which has sharp edges on the mode dial and feels not friendly to the hand so to say. GX80 has underwhelming HD. 4k acquisition for HD delivery still feels weird to me. But its a very nice image. So guess gonna sell the G7, which has only been through one testrun. I bought it after my GX80 for the nice HD, swivel screen, much better EVF and mic in. GX80 stabilization is nice but not magic. I would say its about the same as the OIS from my 14-45mm lens. I still got one G6 shortfilm in the editing and post to show soon hopefully. I´m awful when it comes to fiddling with the colors, never finding an end it seems Well, thanks a lot for the beautiful words, my friend! By the way, vid shot again with the Canon FD 28mm 2.8, wide open. Great lens. Best for the price. Bought a Kiron 28mm 2.0 a few weeks ago and found it disappointing in the image department.
  18. Hey guys n dolls! Still love my G6. G7 didnt get properly tested yet, don´t like the body ergos. GX80 getting a hell lotta tested but it´s not so much fun as my G6 was. Yet. Maybe because GX80s HD is kinda underwhelming and without a cage its a little small though beautiful to hold, kinda slippery too. Bought a cage, so thats kinda helpful. Guess my run and gun days will become fewer and it´s time to get used to proper big and fat setups and cameras. Big Bertha Urs(ul)a
  19. Hey friends! time to post some g6 footage again. shot 8months ago. I lit and shot this in 1.5 hours, no planning ahead of the shoot. All quick n pretty style! Talents´voices didnt make it in the edit because of my not so pretty audio job. Edit took a looong time, because I missed some shots. So next time, at least a small shotlist:) Panny G6 still a great cam. I like the ergos better than the G7. Grip is more lovely to hold and it somehow feels more solid. Still shooting with my G6, GX80 and G7 for test shots only so far:) Hope you can enjoy this faulty exercise of mine. cheers, Marty
  20. I think the 120fps mode has the same quality as the 24p, 60p modes. Pixelperfect and clean HD resolution. How about sending that through Twixtor for 240fps and 480fps? Would be interesting to see how 240fps stacks up against the 180 VFR mode.
  21. nice, you own a kinefinity terra, who needs a mod then? Still, a beautiful thing would be a mod for micro to full hdmi in a nice batterygrip kind of thing.
  22. a 6500 mod would be nice: full hdmi and all that bells and whistles of the a6000 mod. I personally would pay for a micro to full hdmi mod in shape of a battery grip for the G85 and GX85 cameras! Just a solid battery grip with solid full HDMI functionality and connectability to baseplates.
