  1. Hi, My LUTs are made for flat footages (LOG profiles), but I'm currently "converting" them for Rec.709 profiles and it will be available in the next update.
I was just doing this because I exactly need to use my LUTs with the LX100 ^_^

I'll post a message here when I'm done (in one or two weeks).

About color skin, I highly recommend the LUTs made by Sebastian Castilho especially for the Panasonic cameras :
    http://sebcastilho.com/2015/04/19/pleasing-neutralising-panasonic-luts/

  2. Lightroom can edit videos, but it's not a very pleasant workflow.

Otherwise you can make your settings in Lightroom on some frames from your videos and export as a LUT with Look Converter by Picture Instruments.
Then you import your footage and your LUT in Premiere Pro or After Effects (...).

This method is really simple and powerful, but some Lightroom options can't be exported as LUT.
For example : noise reduction, vignetting, ...

    Hope it helps ^_^

  3. Hello,

I just made a new pack of LUTs especially for GoPro and action cams.

Recently I had to work with videos from an action cam on a drone, I had to help a friend to color grade.
It was an opportunity for me to experiment and to create a collection of original looks as LUT.

It was not easy to make not desctructive looks for the GoPro footages.
Image is easily damaged and we quickly reaches the limits of color grading (from my experience anyway).

Also I offer a free LUT named "Batiog" (the second one in the image below).
Download link and video samples here : http://luts.iwltbap.com/gopro

    ^_^

  4. If I'm right, .MGA files are made for screen calibration.

Here are more free LUTs :
    - Film print emulation by Juan Melara : http://juanmelara.com.au/print-film-emulation-luts-for-download
    - Kodachrome film look by Frank Glencairn : https://frankglencairn.wordpress.com/2014/01/15/everything-looks-better-on-kodachrome-k-tone-lut
    - Film look pack by SmallHD : http://www.smallhd.com/community/movie-looks-download
    - My free LUT with teal/blue-orange look : http://luts.iwltbap.com/#freeware

    Hope it helps ^_^

  5. Indeed that is very nice. I have impulz and use it with my gh4 but haven't been able to match it well with the lx100 on standard. Do you still use your flatenner lut with those settings on natural?

Yes I use it, but I have not yet made a video project with the LX100, only tests.

Found an open-box lx100 so have been playing around.  I'm using a script to downsample all the files to 1080 so i can view/work with them easier.  So for anyone interested in a windows script using ffmpeg.  Copy this "converto1080.bat" script (or whatever batch filename you want to call it ) into a folder with 4K mp4 files.  Run it and it will created 1080 COPIES in mp4_1080 (or whatever you want to call the folder).

    (...)

For Windows and Mac users, there is the freeware Rocky Mountains Movie Converter.
It uses FFMPEG with simple interface and it's really fast compared to Adobe Media Encoder, Apple Compressor or others encoding applications.

    Download : http://sourceforge.net/projects/rockymountainsmovieconverter/files/

  6. Hi, thanks for your findings I plan to try this out soon. Is this for the Standard picture style in the lx100?

    Yes, Standard.
Right now I use Natural with :

    • Contrast -5 / Sharpen -5 / Noise reduction -5 / Saturation 0
    • Highlight 0 / Shadow 0

Almost no noise up to 800 ISO.

Check this beautiful video by a user with same settings on LX100 : https://vimeo.com/116671977
You can download the 2.5K version from Vimeo, and the quality is very impressive !

  7. Sorry for being a greenhorn, but how do I use this LUT?

  8. Hello,

As a fan of beautiful classic cars I always enjoy watching videos from Petrolicious.
For those who don't know, Petrolicious is a famous website about vintage cars ; they make regular video interviews of owners of older car models.
Recently they shot a video about the Alpine Renault.

The problem with Petrolicious is that they are very discreet about the shooting and the gear used, so I "investigate" and I finally found this video was made by David Zu Elfe from itx Films.
I asked David what he had used as material and about color grading, here's his kindly reply :

Camera setup was a GH4 + Metabones + Canon 24-105mm f/4 for most of the stationary and sliding shots, and the moving car shots are almost exclusively LX100 on suction cup or Nebula 4000 (with a ring rig). Color was done within Premiere Pro's Lumetri Panel and I used James Miller's Deluts as a baseline for my grade. Cheers !

    Interesting !
    Enjoy the video now :

  9. Just keep testing and posting, and really thx for the LUT!

If i want to go cinematic, i go for Supertone settings, and it looks good, check it out: http://www.supertone.dk/#!GH4-Optimal-Film-Setting-works-in-stills-too/c24o4/8E18836A-F271-4A14-AF0D-C575B9D5F4B6

And here is a really nice ISO3200 footage from the little camera:

    https://vimeo.com/134851191

    Thanks for the link !
And about the video, just wow
    ^_^

  10. Maybe I'm the only one interested in the LX100 today, but regardless, I continue posting ^_^

Here is a 4K still frame extracted from a video at 100 ISO (50mm f/4).
With good settings, quality is really decent.
Image stabilization works like a charm.

I'm sure that beautiful short films will be shot with the LX100 !

Click to enlarge (no JPEG compression over H.264) :

    lx100-4k-still-frame.thumb.jpg.eaea078f7

Now I have to make tests at night.

  11. Still playing with the LX100, I tried a lot of profile settings and Highlight/Shadow curves to get the best image for color grading.
Finally I recommend the following settings :

    • Contrast -2 / Sharpen -3 / Noise reduction -2 / Saturation 0
    • Highlight -2 / Shadow -2

As it's impossible to apply a real LOG flat profile in-camera, so I created a LUT to flatten the image the safest way.
I based this LUT on the rendering of the VisionLOG profile with some adjustments.

    Download (.3dl and .cube in ZIP, 2.5MB) :  IWLTBAP_Flattener_LUT.zip

  12. I got a LX100 yesterday and I just started to play with the 4K.
The image is great for a small and inexpensive camera (I got mine at €500/$545, used but as new).

Maybe I'll make a longer post about my opinion on the LX100, but for the time being I love it.
Of course we are far away from the quality of the BMCC 4K but I bought the LX100 to downscale in 1080p and get a beautiful image.
For info, I downscale easily with RockyMountains (freeware).

First thing I noticed is that the 4K image can have a grain a bit thick in dark scenes, even a low ISO.
For example below, I shot at 100 ISO indoor and in this 4K 100% crop you can see the "thick grain".
I tried to reduce this grain in a non-destructive way and finally I got this result via curves and levels :

    Before : https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/8492265/iwltbapluts/crop-LX100-before.jpg
    After : https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/8492265/iwltbapluts/crop-LX100-after.jpg
    GIF before/after : https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/8492265/iwltbapluts/lx100-lut-grain-reducer-before-after.gif

I made a LUT (.3dl and .cube in ZIP, 3.5MB), feel free to test : IWLTBAP_LX100_Grain_Reduction.zip

PS : Yes, I'm aware that a LUT can't modify an image, but just the colors ; here I tried to reduce the chroma of grain/noise and unify the whole in reducing the overall light. Hope it helps ^_^

  13. I would go for Magic Bullet Looks !
More expensive but more versatile in my opinion.

It's an all-in-one tool, you will have more fun to play with it, it's perfect to start.
And there are a lot of tutorials on Youtube about how-to-use, like this one : https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Z78NI-nL4o0

What you can do with Film Convert or Color Finale, you can do it with Magic Bullet Looks.
Also in Magic Bullet Looks you have the scopes, and it can be really helpful :)

  14. Just used the 9320 on this shoot with the BMPCC.

Aaron, I love your shoot !
I'm so happy when I watch user examples :D

Finally bought them, some great stuff in there :D

How do you use them in Vegas ? I cant find a way to use LUTs in Vegas.

Thank you so much Ricardo !

About Vegas, I never used it so I can't help you, sorry.
But I know that Magic Bullet Looks works with Vegas and if I'm right there is an option to load a LUT : https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dKH6bAq50So

Maybe you can download the demo version and give a try.

    Hope it helps :)

  15. Hallo Panny,

Yes, I used the MP4 video from Vimeo, I do not have access to the original files from Andrew.

About softwares, LUTs can be used with most popular video editing applications, like Adobe After Effects, Premiere Pro, Sony Vegas Pro or Final Cut Pro (with plugin).
Sorry but I don't know about Virtual Dub (I used this tool few years ago and from memory it can't apply LUT on video).

FFmpeg can use LUT files via command lines, more infos here : http://ffmpeg.gusari.org/viewtopic.php?f=11&t=1820
But I think it's better to use a video editing application with visual preview.

    Hope it helps :)
