    ricardo_sousa11 got a reaction from kidzrevil in Sony A7RII 4k versus NX1 4K
The NX1 video frames do look a lot like still photographs, heres a few shots I took from 4k video - http://imgur.com/a/CCBXl - it is so outstanding how sharp the image is (please note this image has grading, still WIP, but its not raw image).
What I've realised too is, the camera handles bokeh differently between 4k video and 1080p video (or even photography), making it look like FF almost when in 4k.
You can make the footage look as filmic or digital as you want.
**The reason why theres very few actual good footage of the NX1 is due to the marketing structure. Many people bought it and use the kit lens and are amazed at the "out of focus background", this is a pro-sumer camera, that was  marketed as a "bigger" higher end point n' shoot, besides its a very very new camera and system, very ew people actually risk going for it, considering lens selection and completely new system. Let me share with you a few great examples of how amazing this camera is :

ricardo_sousa11 got a reaction from Xavier Plagaro Mussard in What "style" of edit is this ?
I wasnt refering to the individual techniques he used (such as hyperlapse), but the actual "stiching", the transitions, he seems to use fast blur with sideways/up&down transitions, and masks, speed ups/downs. I do realise this style cant be used for everything, but for some stuff it really makes it look "magical".

The Nx1 is an incredible piece of tech, an incredible camera (I keep telling this to everyone), its the most underated piece of gear in ages. I did think the a7rII would come close to it though, surprised to see its so far behind, this just confirms my opinion, the NX1 is the best 4k (and video) camera around up until the tens of thousands in price, and even then, it compares quite close.

    Great test btw !

GH4 has much lower detail than the NX1.
I agree with you though, the Canon colors are great, but I find the NX1 very very versatile, its easy to grade and look great, however, you need decent lenses...most of the footage I see are shot with the kit lens, this is probably due to the bad marketing, and with the kit lens, it makes the camera look close to what an Iphone @ 4k looks like. Pair it with decent lenses, and you have an amazing camera, that can look filmic or not, depending on what your needs are.

    Hey Everyone,

Last month I finished editing my last job with my T3i (since then i've upgraded to the Nx1), most of my jobs are weddings, even though I like doing some of them, I'm burnt from having quite a few this summer. So I've been doing some tests lately with Luts and finally decided to grade a job with it, I very much liked the end result, got a "cinematic" feel, but theres always room for improvement, so I'd like to know what you guys think of the video in general (editting, grading, filming and so on).

All the footage, apart from some night scenes in NY streets, look awfull, really terrible, so I think Ill just ignore all of this and wait for better reviews.

I do think its the best thing anyone can do, and should do, specially when starting. Having a limitation, glasswise, will make you feel comfortable while shooting, you'll become so used to it that eventually you'll just know exacly what you're gonna get without looking through the viewfinder. On these types of job, what I like to do is just walk around, quick 5 second clips, get lots and lots of dif. shots, details, and "blend" with everyone, so they dont notice im filming, I shoot from the waist, and tilt the screen up most of the times, I want people to be as comfortable as possible.
Lately I've been doing weddings, but its not what I want to do, I'm now starting to do some music videos and have a couple already lined up, but my main goal is to eventually move out(I live in a tiny Island called Madeira, and working in videography here is very very hard and expensive) and work more seriously on films and shortfilms. I can share with you my first shortfilm, done 1.5 years ago, of course I've progressed since then, but Im still quite happy with it, and one should always look back and look at how you started :

Wow, such great response ! Thank you all
It was indeed shot on a T3i, I still think this is an amazing camera if you put decent glass in front of it.
I agree with you, the blacks are dark grayish without detail (not enough DR), but it was an artistic choice, I just liked how it looked in the end.
Gear is important, but not as important as we think sometimes, its hard not to get "drunk" with all the gear talk, upgrades and all that, more DR, more resolution, more detail. Most of my gear is "beginnerish", and im glad it is, having quite a short selection of lenses (just the 24mm Samyang and the Canon 50mm f1.8) made me very comfortable with them and the FOV.
Of course its a bit uncomfortable, when you get to a job and guests have better gear than you, but hey, what matters is the end product

The transcoding pain will soon be over, Premiere is getting support soon.

The DR, is quite fine for me, I upgraded from the canon t3i, and it was a huge dif. You just gotta protect the highlights, apart from that, the NX1 has the best video quality i've ever seen/worked with (I've worked with 5DM2, T3i, D800, Nikon D7300 and a few others). Im fully confident this is the best video camera around for the price range.

    Basically this.

The Nx1 without a doubt the best IQ out there unless you go for an FS7 / 1DC and higher range cameras, it is trully outstanding. I too was set out to buy a GH4+metabones for over a year, but then I discovered the NX1 and read a bit more about it, ended up getting the NX1 and am currently editting my first official job with it, so far Im very very impressed. Its incredibly versatile, you can make it look cinematic or video'ish
