So true. The higher end web cams have also gone way up in price. Everywhere is sold out and eBay is marked way up.
New York Times worked with the webcam footage in a cool way.

That reminds me of a certain "news" network that was constantly warning Americans that Obama was coming to take their guns away, and that the Ebola threat was all Obama's fault. And was happy to support a president who flat out lied about Obama not being a US citizen.
Fear mongering on a billion-dollar budget, indeed.

Unfortunately, it appears that transmission from person to person is quite likely when someone who has Coronavirus is still asymptomatic. Because in the US we didn't rush to provide testing kits and have a comprehensive testing strategy, the spread of the disease is far worse than it had to be.

I've seen on CNN's website interviews with people who have recovered from Coronavirus. They all have said the same thing: Don't get coronavirus. It sucks.

Which is why we need medicare for all in the USA; so people will STOP being focused excessively on oneself and one's own family, to the detriment of others.

The mortality rates of SARS and MERS were higher than Covid-19. But Coronavirus is much more contagious (at least in today's world). At the END of the SARS epidemic, only 8,000 people WORLDWIDE had tested positive for SARS. As of today, over 44,000 people have tested positive for Covid-19... in the USA alone. Worldwide over 400,000 people have coronavirus. So that is an infection rate of over 50 times what the infection rate was for SARS. (Most likely, the number of people who are infected is significantly higher and is severely under-reported, as countries like Iran, China, and North Korea are suspected of covering up the number of actual cases and deaths from Covid-19).
And we should avoid another 12,469 deaths in the US by pretty much any means necessary. Swine Flu was horrible.
Yeah, what we learned is that even after experiencing SARS, MERS, and Swine Flu, politicians will ignore the health of the people if they think that strong action to curb a pandemic would affect their ability to get re-elected.

Absolutely NO ONE is obsessively trying to kill every single germ in their vicinity. What they are trying to do is get the governments (federal and local) to implement better testing and dedicate more resources to fighting this and other diseases.
For the people who DIED of SARS, MERS, Swine Flu, and will die from Covid-19, the world will certainly come to an end for them.

The media is flawed, but in this instance I'm not sure what people wanted them to do differently? If anything I feel they were too conservative and probably should've been pushing even harder for answers/action. That's kinda their role in a functioning democracy.
It's easy to talk about "personal responsibility" and all that other stuff, but society has shown repeatedly that people have shitty judgment and don't look at the bigger picture. You need only look at the beaches in Florida last week; those people's actions will go on to impact far more people than themselves as they go home and spread it to people. It begs the question, why was it allowed to happen? It shouldn't have.

The world is in a really dark place at the moment, but I think we need some hope.
Let's assume by July or August, we'll be through the worst of it and have a Canon EOS R5 to play with.
Maybe Fuji will surprise us with an X-H2 by then and Sony with an A7S III.
And hopefully some sport will be back on as well. I was going to film some of it!
So I think we should have one thread for the virus crisis, where we share tips about staying safe, hygienic, etc. and are free to discuss our fears too. Many will lose their income streams and they will need a place to talk and get help.
But I think my role now is to boost the camera side of the forum, get some camera related blogs out and stop my own coronavirus worries taking over from that. It's very hard to turn off the news when you have loved-ones in high risk groups and places. I will now try to do that and get back down to business.
Good luck to all who are trying to stay positive and trying to work without so much negative distraction in the world.
    I salute you. 👍

In an ideal world we could agree to disagree on our politics.
But seems some don't even read what I said...I don't care which way you voted, as long as you don't bring unethical toxic idiotic posts into my community.
In addition there are literally people joining the forum to steer a political discussion in a topic or steer a thread off-topic, in favour of their idol Trump.
This is deeply suspicious and points to a kind of fake user linked to a campaign of some sort.

Looking at recent posts objectively, it is always the same users who end a perfectly good discussion on this forum with toxic bullshit.
    I am coming after you.
    It is a cull.
    It isn't about politics.
    It's about values!
To protect a community I love... I have no choice.
To be clear, it is none of my business which way you vote. What matters is behaviour, character, values.
If you've been a good contributor here and kind to people you get to stay.
If not, then you are going to be asked to leave and I will pursue people who return under a different name.
This is purely because there are now far too many posts being trashed and too much arguing driven by people with the wrong values which I despise.
I am going to use this week to draw up a list of people who strongly align themselves with Trump's politics of America First.
And I will be getting rid of the lot of you.
Yes you can say it's a political purge but I prefer to think of it as purely about values and about protecting users who DO contribute positively to the forum.
If these idiots are allowed to get away with bringing Trump idolising bullshit into this community then all our work will be for nothing and Russia with their fake-user farms will have won too, because I am 99% sure at least a few of the idiots are completely made-up shill users whose role is to divide us politically and weaken our online communities.
At a time when we must pull together as a camera-community, as filmmaking industry, even as a country, indeed as a world - to get through tough economic times ahead - dumb arguments which ignore factual data are a waste of time.
What has happened to the world in recent weeks is stressful enough and I personally do not need to hear from certain people in every thread. I will not be providing a platform for Red cap wearing idiots who haven't contributed a single shot or image to this forum.
I get that EOSHD has a big US readership, in fact the US contribution to my site is the largest in the world and I want to keep as many of you as possible and not lose any friends who just happen to disagree with me on politics.
But if you are going to be a shill for Trump's politics or somebody who is a complete shit-stirrer and troll, then I will no longer be turning a blind eye to it and the cull starts now...
Have fun on your way out.

I'll start by saying that that is a great film.
But is there anything more 2020 than trying to capitalise on a global crisis that is literally killing people by click baiting a six year old video?
This video is also doing the rounds after being re-purposed by a lot of people who are desperate for clicks on social media pretending it was taken during whatever passed for a lockdown in London when it was actually just pre-virus dickheadery.
Fair play though, the woman's reaction at the end is gold.

I have to say you guys should check out the Negative Lab Pro Facebook group, guys are using their mirror less and light setups and getting excellent results. Honestly I’ve used my plustek and gotten fantastic results that were as good as the lab, just takes time on the colors.
I agree with @BenEricson unless you have 1-2 hours a roll to devote to scanning, support a lab! I use mail my film out in a prepaid mailer and use Old School Photo Lab but there are tons of labs. The darkroom is another popular one. My current 35mm setup is a Nikon FE2 with a 28mm, 50mm and 100mm e series primes.

Agreed. Even if you have loads of time, it is nearly impossible to get the same color and texture that you get with the high end scanners.
This scanner is really good but only does 35mm. I’ve heard a lot of people swear by it. The output really simulates what a 35mm print should look like. Correct colors etc.

I personally would rather support a local lab and get my scans back in 2/3 days via email. I’m shooting 120 and 35 so the price for high end scanners would be too costly for it to make sense.

I actually shoot 35mm film on the regular. It’s fun and the images look fantastic. I own a plustek 8100 film scanner, which I use vuescan to scan my images and a Lightroom app called Negative Lab Pro to convert. That said the process takes me 1.5 hours, so unless I have time to scan, I usually opt to have scans done by a lab for about $14. (Less if you give more rolls).
Many NLP users make their own scanner with a light table, macro lens and camera and the scanning process is much faster than my plustek. Film is very much still alive in 2020.

The sad truth is that, in order to scan 35mm and medium format stills in best quality, you need dedicated high-end film scanners like the ones made by Nikon (Coolscan) and Hasselblad (Flextight). Nikon unfortunately stopped manufacturing the Coolscans many years ago. Today, they are sought-after items costing up to $2000 on Ebay, with many models needing SCSI or Firewire connections. Hasselblad scanners cost about $15,000.
All affordable solutions on the market, flatbed scanners (like the Epson Perfection series or the Reflecta budget film scanners) do not render the full quality of film. Solutions for digitizing film with a camera and a macro lens like the Nikon ES-2 lens adapter are rather flimsy.
