Jimmy got a reaction from Neumann Films in Why we care about the latest gear and how this all started with a post about Top Gear - for historical purposes
and then you got obsessed and failed to recognise that there are two sides to every story, a worrying trait for a filmmaker.

Jimmy got a reaction from SleepyWill in Blackmagic Pocket Cinema Camera: does it make sense to buy it now?
There are usually plenty on eBay... I love mine... It is the only camera I haven't sold or exchanged over the last few years. My jaw always drops when I get the raw footage into After Effects. It is packed in my bag, ready for a trip to Portugal on Friday, along with the A7s.

Imagine NAB without BM.
All we'd have is a sensor for next year and a slight reworking of their system (RED)... 2 fixed lens cameras (Canon, Panny)... and 1 great, but pricey C300 mk II.
BM certainly know how to shake it up each year.

Jimmy got a reaction from Xiong in Canon 5D Mark IV "will be 1080p" with Canon LOG
hahaha, I opted for the A7s as I was filming Auroras.... Someone bought the 1DC
http://www.dvxuser.com/V6/showthread.php?332554-Canon-1D-C-for-sale
At the time I was looking, the exchange rate pushed it under £2600.... Was SOOO tempted, but A7s ticks more of my boxes... No regrets.

Jimmy reacted to Julian in URSA question (big Ursa)
Yes, it's possible.
You can buy the sensor module seperate.
Mail from BlackMagic:
If you already own an URSA, then you will be able to upgrade to the new 4.6K sensor for $1,995 for the EF lens mount and $2,495 for the PL lens mount. All you will need to do is purchase this “4.6K turret upgrade” and then you can replace the turret on your URSA cameras to get this new higher performance image sensor. This new 4.6K turret upgrade is also gives you the ability to choose between the EF or PL models if you want to change from the mount you currently own.
Also good to know:
What’s exciting is we are also reducing the price of the current shipping 4K models of Blackmagic URSA EF and PL cameras by $1,000. This means if you don’t have an URSA, it’s now more affordable than ever. Plus currently the URSA 4.6K EF is the same price as the URSA 4K EF plus the 4.6K Turret Upgrade so that means you can get started at 4K and then upgrade later if you need the extra dynamic range!
So it seems like you can buy the URSA 4K and the 4.6K upgrade for the same price as the URSA 4.6K. So you'll get an extra turred for free. No idea what you can do with that, but maybe you can sell it

Jimmy got a reaction from Jaime Valles in My open letter to Panasonic. DVX200 will be lonely, needs a brother called AF200!
Agree with the guys above.... If EOSHD wants to become a better editorial, Andrew really needs to step out of the mindset of "It doesn't suit me, so it is a bad camera/bad decision".
This camera will sell well. Very well.

To address something from the article
They pack in advanced stills options on these cameras because they are stills cameras. How often does that need to be repeated?

Jimmy reacted to Andrew Reid in Canon C300 2 video
Dynamic range in the acting or in the camera?!
I think Gale did a good job with it.
The rest, especially the audio is not at the same level... but not exactly unexpected for such a quick shoot promo video.
There are a lot of uncomfortable pauses in dialogue, as if the director and actors hadn't had enough time to get into the material.

Jimmy got a reaction from dbp in Blackmagic URSA Mini - $2995 - official thread
Come on folks, this looks great but it is a bit early to announce the death of Canon/Sony/Panasonic etc.
We have all used BM products, there are always issues. The Canon will be bullet proof, Sony only slightly less... They have NDs, small battery solutions, global service centers.
I'm buzzed about this camera... But let's hold fire on the age old debate about X being dead, long live Y.

How wide do you need? The 14mm pancake will be a dream for copter shots, with global shutter and 13 stops DR... I'm buzzing for it.

Nice video with the new sensor half way down the main URSA page

Jimmy got a reaction from Daniel Acuña in Red Weapon is 8K Vista Vision
Don't forget Alexa 65, before hailing this as the new king!
This RED looks nice though, my biggest issue with the entire dragon system is interchangeable OLPFs... Such a pain. If you work with the skintone OLPF, you are really limited with your ISOs.

Jimmy got a reaction from Ivar Kristjan Ivarsson in Canon 1D C used price slips under £5000 - and why I decided to take the gamble and get one
Yea, I'm just not sure I will take the FS700/OQ7 to Iceland as it is quite a beast to carry around, especially with 5 primes and a large tripod.
Iceland is so amazing though, not sure anything but 4K, raw, 1-120fps would do it justice. Decisions, decisions

Jimmy got a reaction from SleepyWill in Canon C300 Mark II - $15,999 4K camera
Could just as easily say "Half the price of an Alexa Mini, with proper 4K"
The price tag will only become comparable to FS7, Alexa and whatever else once the IQ is revealed. IQ is the gold dust.

Jimmy reacted to IronFilm in Canon's GH4 "Competitor"
Jimmy, the XC10 has ND but..... only ONE setting :-/

Jimmy got a reaction from IronFilm in Canon's GH4 "Competitor"
Here's the thing though John... I was invested in Canon, both camera and glass.... Then Sony bought out the FS700 and it ticked more of my boxes, so I sold up and moved on. I have since moved on yet again.... I wont cry that Canon or Sony didn;t constantly meet my ever changing needs... I just move to whoever does, say in the knowledge that my needs are not the same as the next man.
Canon glass fits everything, so I don't see the issue with moving to another platform. Then if Canon do make your dream camera, move back.
and when I said "These things" I meant canon having an attempt at a niche market... why knock it, choice is great.

Jimmy got a reaction from jpfilmz in Canon's GH4 "Competitor"
Has in built stabilisation and AF. Could be quite interesting on gimbals and drones.
Clearly a niche product. Not sure why people knock these things so much.... At least they try new things.

Jimmy got a reaction from studiodc in Your realistic hopes for NAB?
Let's step away from the 16 stops, 12800iso $3k cameras for a while and think about what you realistically expect and would like to see at NAB 2015?
Top of my list is probably a Ninja Star 2 that can record 4K ProRes. I think it is quite likely and will make the current/next generation of 4K HDMI cams really sing, without the need for a large monitor/recorder, which is not always ideal for certain shooting types.
I would also like to see Olympus style image stabilisation in one of the larger cameras (C300 mkII type).
What is on your reasonable wishlist?
